Yet another perfect review from Mr. Rangeman :)
Mate, first your wonderful reviews series on the GPR-B1000 convinced me it's a perfect watch, so I bought one. Couple of days ago I was looking around your videos and I saw the ones about this GW-B5600. Result: this morning 1st hour I went to a shop and bought one :) It's wonderful also...
Conclusion: mate, your reviews are having too much influence :) I wonder if I should unsubscribe your channel :))))

Thank you so very much for your feedback and I'm glad I'm helping good and bad LML :-P
The GW-B5600 is a brilliant little G-Shock, and really useful setting the alarm/s and such in the dark :) I've done another video/s on my GW-B5600 with a mod, very easily done, but just to show what is possible... I've called it Max69 after Mad-Max :)
I feel all channels like mine are a bad influence, but as the world is going down the tubes, might as well spend what you can and stuff your Guinea Pigs so they have a great short life like you LML :-P

You bet I saw them both the retro max69 and the other video with the black stainless bezel DLC.
I've tried to find level1000 but sadly didn't managed to find him on ebay, but also cousin "ali" from Asia is doing the job (with a two months delivery, sadly).
Hence, already on the way from Assia (aliexpress) i have already those two bezels (also the retro watchband), some nato straps, some adapters and a bumper (i think it's called that "wire").
Still thinking if sandpapering the retro one will be applied...we'll see depending on how it'll look on the warn wristband. Deliberation time remaining....minus sixty days :)) and, who knows maybe you'll bring some more ideas on the rangeman or this model and keep us busy :)
      Wish you health!
      All the best from Romania.

*Pardon me if I’ve mentioned this here already, but I learned a hidden hack to manually check the last atomic radio signal reception. This was first done by Greg Anderson - The Good Timekeeper, in his review of this model. You access the Diagnostic Mode by pressing buttons B, C, & D (Light, Mode, & Receiving) simultaneously. A “J” or perhaps another letter will appear in the date window. In this instance, that J indicates one of the radio transmitters in Japan. Then pressing C (Mode) “RX” follows the “J” from the previous screen. Subsequently the screen that displays the last radio wave signal reception (not the Bluetooth connection time sync & update) is shown, with another press of the C (Mode) button. It will have “RC” along with the last received date and time. Another depress of the C button will take you to Home Time Mode.*

It was my mistake with hands up on this... I wanted to say Kaunas but couldn't remember the name, so looking on the map I just picked Riga for some unknown reason... I should know as I've been to Kaunas twice. I made a video there testing the GPS on three watches (Fenix 5X Plus vs Instinct vs GPR-B1000) and there you can see the beautiful Old Oak tree park. I absolutely loved it there... Myself and Mrs Rangeman went there for Christmas one year, and the next year in May we decided to go again but for two weeks. Became a local knowing the town and living in a rented apartment. Will be going back again next year, but on the coast by the sea for a week :)

Hi, first of all thank you for such a complete review and tutorial. Being a non-native of the English language I do appreciate your calm and clear speech. You are right, it's easier to understand for us non English speakers.
I have a question, how do you feel the negative display holds up for this model, as a daily watch? I only have the 1 G-Shock DW-5735 with the golden dial, which I enjoy. Had the classic DW-5600-E for a couple of months but found the display weak and underwhelming, and the the buttons were crap. Now I had the GD-350 with negative display, which was perfect, but found that the style and size was too big for my taste. Just would love to hear your POV now that you’ve had the watch for more than a year.

Hey buddy, cheers for your feedback... I do have a disability with dyslexia so my talking is a little different, but to non native English speakers they all find it a nice pace to follow, and you're another viewer who's given me a nice boost with a compliment :))
For a daily watch the GW-B5600 is a brilliant watch, the negative display is really nice in day time, but come the evening, you will need the backlight being honest. The negative display is really made for those who want the all stealth blackout look, but being on the side of practical with the need of an easy to read display, then positive is the way... there is a gold version of this watch, well not so gold, more on the face of the watch, but that's the only version to have a positive LCD display (GW-B5600BC-1ER) there might be another one thinking about it, but the model number I've mentioned is with a yellow/gold display that's easier to read than negative.
The GD-350 has one of the best negative displays, so a shame it's a little big... now have you seen the CBX-100 G-LIDE?? this has some nice features, but does have a different way to navigate around this watch, plus it's not solar... I've not seen one in person, so can't give you my honest thoughts, but does look slender and uses the MIP display, which is really sharp in all lighting.
Is it the negative display you need the most??
      Cheers :))

To be honest, I haven't had a negative display in a long time (putting a side the GD-350), and kind a think I'll give it a chance, just put in the order from Azmn US; back at home the watch goes for like between double and 4 times the price. If I don't enjoy it I'll flip it.
Curiously, the CBX-100 is available here for the retail price, but have seen some videos on how it functions and looks, and don't know if it is the right fit for me.
I confess I'm a vintage and diver fan, but having my first G-Shock last year opened my eyes to this great watches.

Such an excellent detailed review. This video should have way more views.
I think the GWB5600 is the best travel watch out there. World time, five favorite cities for quick access, and time swap. Although it's not needed, the app makes finding and changing the time zones you need so much easier, so it is appreciated.
The square form factor and resin build is low key, as to not draw attention from would be thieves. Combine that with all the other cool little features, tough solar, and G-Shock toughness and you have a great international travel companion.
Now, if Casio would just make a positive display in a colorway that I actually like... Perhaps something that looks like the standard 5610. What's the hold up? This watch has been out for some time now.
I like the display of the GBX100, but underwhelmed by the looks of the bezel and less robust world time features. Love the sunset and sunrise times though.

Hey my friend... thank you for your fantastic comment :) Not heard of the GBD5600, must be a new release? I think the biggest concern on the watch is the negative display, and having a MIP display would be a great way forward. The positive display version has the gold surround, but gold isn't for everyone, so not sure why CASIO haven't added another positive display with the stealth black surround? You can mod the LCD displays and change the colour just to add, but you need to be confident to take upon that mod.
I like the GBX-100 G-Lide, can't wait to see what it looks like in the hand, but as of yet, no new G-Shocks released in the UK???

I did see your Max69 video. That leather strap looks surprisingly good with the weathered look of the bezel and keeper.
I do wish Casio would get on with more positive display versions of the GWB5600. It is almost the perfect watch for my needs. If they do not come out with more soon, I may indeed need to resort to modding a negative version, but I would prefer not to.

That might be tight... I know trying to find the resin bracelet isn't easy, so links are going to be tougher. Now, I've ordered a resin bracelet off eBay which fits the GW-B5600 and yes it's aftermarket, but would be interesting if the links are interchangeable??? I have a 7.5" wrist, and I remove about two links only, which is about an inch... my micro setting is on the second hole with two holes left to make it bigger. The bracelet in my opinion is worth it, as it's so comfortable and easier to place on quickly. I will be reviewing that resin bracelet when it arrives, as I have other ideas for it, but will be comparing it to the original anyway, and swapping links would be something I would do anyway. • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 4 lety +3

I have to be honest, if you want a negative G-Shock display that works then it's either MIP displays which is used on the GPR Rangeman, G-Squads and the new G-Lide... or for me the GD-350 which has the best negative display for LCD. The GW-B5600 I have is a cool watch, but it's one of those G-Shocks that I like being the stealth type... all black with the blackout display just adds to the mystery of it all... but if you need practical then positive all the way. I use mine during the day, as come evening it's becomes a struggle and the backlight needs to be used. I've seen the negative display on the King and I wasn't impressed, so went for the yellow positive display, but the GW-B5600 is just a tad better, but not by a huge amount. I feel you want the negative display and are in the in between line... so maybe the new G-Lide is better suited... does have some cool features such as notifications and ((VIBE)) alert, and if you don't like the wording like 'G-Lide' like me, then you'll be pleased it's only on the strap side when worn, so swapping the strap would solve this. There is the GW-B5600 positive display, but I know this isn't for all with the gold surround.
Maybe you need to see one in the hand to judge, but from what you're thinking I would say it'll just as hard as your King.

@@AhmedBinTariq I like to make people aware of options too, and so you have a spectrum of choice. I know the wanting can turn into something disappointing too, so being honest is the best way for me, as I gain noting but an unhappy viewer.
I've done some modding on my GW-B5600 giving it first a DLC black bezel, now it has a retro vintage style with a leather strap, and I've called it the Max69 with Mad Max being its origins.. videos are found in my playlist.
I like the GBX-100, but have ideas about how I like it to look, so far it's not properly released in the UK yet as far as I'm aware???
I'm doing a mod on my GW-9400 Rangeman, which can be seen in the Ultimate G-Shock Case video, where I've removed the print on the LCD display, which meant removing the reflective backing to reach the print. I didn't like the lines in the sub-dial, as you can't see the LCD especially when it's in sunrise and sunset mode, so now it's just blank, but decided at the time to remove it all so it's all fresh... but the backing needs to be replaced as once removed thats it... I've removed the front polarised film too, as I though the print was on the front, so have replacement films coming in... the front film was bought from eBay which is for a Nintendo, but it'll do the same job... and the rear I've found through Bang-good website. I was looking at using yellow, but have decided to go further and swap the LED's to red LED's just for something different. You'll need a very sharp blade to remove the top polarised film, I used a fresh spare retractable Stanley blade... then you have the glue to contend with, so I used GM tar remover... takes a while to get it all off and clean. I'm not sure just by placing a yellow tint will have the same effect, maybe you need a yellow backing too, so worth looking into it first, and maybe ask on the facebook watch group 'G-Shock Collectors WORLDWIDE' as many mod their display all the time.

The phone finder feature will effectively work in a small area, indoors it will typically work within a room. If you run it in the living room but the phone is in the bedroom or your car it will probably not activate the alarm. It works best for checking whether the phone is under some paper, a blanket or cushion, or just out of sight. It's also worth mentioning that because of the audio alarm this is also about the same distance you may hear the alarm from so it's not an impractical limitation. Phone updates and connecting to other watches seems to disrupt it so I test it every so often.

I don't think I want my G-shock syncing with my phone. Seems like an unnecessary complication. I like that my current G-shock syncs to the atomic clock and uses solar to extended battery life. These features let it keep perfect time without the hassle of manually setting the watch, winding or changing the battery. The strength lets me not worry about it breaking or scratching. I really like that the watch is durable and hassle free. But syncing to my phone just adds complication without simplifying my life.

    • @WatchUP69MrRangeman
      @WatchUP69MrRangeman  Před 3 lety +2

Good comment... the side with G-Shock with their hybrid series is that the features can be set using a connected device, and this is useful for say setting multiple alarms in the late evening, as we all know the backlight on G-Shocks die after 3secs max normally, so there's a side... also adjusting the time when you land in a new time zone instantly, as atomic syncing won't work if the watch city code isn't matching. It does make things easier, but can make it more complex.
I really enjoy my vintage 80's G-Shocks, this is totally off the grid... cheers for your feedback and thoughts :)
