      lots of caviar today comes from farmed sturgeon, I'm not sure it is even possible to raise sharks on aquaculture farms 🤷‍♂️

    Not a Beluga Sturgeon, but we recently found a spawning Sturgeon in the Genesee River [NY] for the first time in over 50 years!

      ​@Bersztipflag as long as there are multiple pairs of subspecies of sturgeon, and people who farm them for repopulation, it's highly unlikely that the subspecies variety let alone the entire main branch of the sturgeon species will go extinct.

      Yeah and I've seen some in person in nature, very 'wicked' / tight fish... How people can be so dam heartless to hunt out the remaining prehistoric fish for short term profits (&/or especially be negligent of protecting their prime spawning grounds, just as bad if not worse because of the inevitable consequences) is far beyond me... mother nature will give humans what they reap from what we sow lol, sooner or later...

There's some least concern species here and there, and here in my state north FL sturgeon are either endangered or Very under threat by corrupt government/ failure to take down the outdated Ocklawaha river dam and soon if these B.s. Unnecessary Northwest Florida toll roads pass/ cause more urban or suburbans sprawl, and with it intensified pollution and draining the aquifer/ rivers (NW FL has the last stronghold river with robust reproduction of the gulf of Mexico sturgeon subspecies of Atlantic sturgeon -- I've seen them, they are incredible. But even few native floridians know this, somehow (the river may be cursed idk, or other barriers to spreading this info far and wide, maybe because people outfished paddlefish of interior USA via black market but...

    they mate in their teen years and live to be about 100 years old. Sounds like a human.

      Beluga Sturgeon hunt and eat baby seas in the Caspian sea. But atleast they are being raised in fish farms now.
