- Today I ranked my top 6 coasters at Elitch Gardens. This is my home park, so I felt these rankings were pretty accurate, but I like to hear what you have to say in the comments below.

Whether you agreed with the video or not, check out my newest Elitches video that focuses on all the positives of Elitch Gardens.

Trust me, I don't hate the park as much as I made it seem in this video, so watch the new one to shine some positive light on Elitches.
I might be 85 years old, but I sure can still ride some coasters! This video was a great watch! Might show it to some of the folks next door.
Bless you, I hope you keep going on coasters for years to come!! ❤
Personally, i would say that mind eraser is my favorite, but i haven’t ridden sidewinder yet. Great video!
Definitely a good ride. The problem is I don't remember how much I liked it since my mind got erased.
Whenever I get off Mind Eraser my head hurts like a bitch, I haven't rode it in 2 years
Sidewinder is my favorite tbh
My fav is the boomerang
Mine is the same and boomerang is a top second but really scary!
TWISTER WAS CALLED "MR. TWISTER" !
0:10 Me who was born and raised in Colorado: "And I took that personally"
I was too, I’m just a picky coster enthusiast
So I know its not the best park but could we go easy on it? Its my home park
eh mine as well... if you get the chance to check out what the other lower 48 have to offer, let me know if you feel the same about Elitch's
@@themeparker7293 😂 It's my home park too. And somehow I've never been. Going soon. But I can say I just went to Busch Gardens Tampa and I had such a good experience I'm worried what I'll think of Elitch Gardens.
Elitch gardens is one of the best theme parks to me in my opinion none of us are trying to travel across the country just to go on rollar coasters i mean if u are u do u but im pretty sure, for the people who dont travel its a really good theme park and of course when ur comparing elitch gardens to bigger and better parks there gonna win but for elitch gardens being alot of our home parks u have too respect it
@@ezekiel.m574 its great for a GP park
@@AdventureAddict-m8v elitch gardens does not compare to Busch gardens 😂
For my top 4, I would say
1. Twister II (I love wooden coasters)
2. Sidewinder (Great when it's open, lots of airtime)
3. Boomerang (Actually surprisingly smooth)
4. Mind Eraser (Rough but still fun)
Honestly, I could see my list looking like this on any given day. Thanks for sharing!
Exactly my same list. I’m going to elich theme part tomorrow
@@nategoodman46 So today! Nice Im going tomorrow. Been a couple years because of covid :(
You’re right about lake side 😂
NO BUT FRFR
Elitch is underwhelming, but not bad. It shouldn't be the best Colorado has to offer though
I mean it not great, but I did get a little bit over the top in the video lol. Have you checked out Glenwood Caverns, in my opinion, it's the best in CO.
@@themeparker7293 I actually live on the other side of the Glenwood canyon, in Gypsum. It is great, but I don't consider it to be a full-on theme park.
@@themeparker7293glenwood is even better now with the new defiance coaster
As a Colorado native I have been to Elitch gardens a few times, it’s nice hearing from someone who has it as a home park, boomerang is my favorite ride, such an intense ride for thrill seekers like me.
I have been to elitches 8 times this season so here is my list.
#1: Sidewinder. I literally greyed out last time i rode this and i actually enjoyed greying out. Really fun airtime too.
#2: Half pipe: oh my gosh the floater combined with spinning and falling. Sensation overload! My only complaint is the length.
#3 Boomerang: I got back row one time and the G's were pulling my eyelids and cheeks down. really fun and suspenseful!
#4: Twister II: the last coaster i actually like. Little bit of airtime, laterals, g's, and a long ride! Roughness puts it down to 4 though.
#5: Mind Eraser: i used to kinda like this then i popped my back out on the third inversion one time and im never risking that again... ow...
#6: Blazin' Buckaroo: i have ridden this, i know that for sure, but i dont really remember much of it. Too tall now so rip. Im sure its a thrill for those youngsters!
fair list, also new vid in the works
Trust me, all the rides might give you headaches but this park is a blast when you have friends or smth
Sidewinder opened in 1990 not 1980. I know that because when I visited Denver that year they were advertising Sidewinder as their premier rollercoaster at their previous location. And let me say that the previous location was much better than their new location. Elitch Gardens now sucks, but the old location was way better and much more shadier on a hot summer day.
You know what I miss about Elitch Gardens?
…The Gardens lol
This is my home park, and my favorite rides are half pipe and sidewinder when they actually open tho
It'll be a bummer if these great rides don't find a new home if/when the park closes...
@@themeparker7293 lmao the park is supposedly scheduled to relocate
@@specialopsdave yeah we'll see. At this point I've heard everything lol
It’s too bad. I worked as a ride operator at the old location on 38th and Tennison, it had character. The new location is just... bland. The previous location didn’t have the most extreme rides but it felt like a old timey amusement park. It had an ambiance, ghost stories and historical significance with one of the oldest carousels in the United States. Rumor has it that Mary Elitch’s ghost would roam the park after closing. There was a security guard that would take rides employees with him on his rounds for ghost tours. I got to see the coaster graveyard and several other places in the park that the general public didn’t get to see. There was an old 1930’s model Caddy with suicide doors in an off limits area in the park. So much history was just tossed for the sake of the almighty dollar. I guess that sort of backfired on them. I’ve been to the new location and was unimpressed. I wish they would have stayed at the old location and leaned into the old timey feel a little more instead of trying to be all slick and modern. Oh well, C’est la vie. At least I got to experience the old park with a deeper appreciation than the general public.
Couldn't agree more, from what my dad has told me...
We went today and all the rollercoasters were open, which sounds like it rarely happens. Unfortunately for my kids the Blazing Buckaroo broke down right when we got to the front of the line. Also had some trouble with the Kaleidoscope but they got it fixed pretty quickly. My kids absolutely loved it so there’s that 😁. Mind Eraser used to be my favorite but I wasn’t sure my back would survive it these days.
glad to see u caught it on a good day
thank you for saying nice stuff about my favorite theme park i totally agree with what your saying
Finally someone knows how to pronounce the park but also knows how horrid it is
glad you liked it
Calm down bro it’s just a park
Also twister II and mind eraser DO have 2 trains
At least the past 3 times ive gone they did
But then again the past 3 times ive gone half pipe and sidewinder were open also so maybe i just get good days idk.
It literally JUST hit 10k views like 30 seconds ago. Congrats!
thank you thank you, now time for the next vid
A few random things:
Everyones favorite ride in kiddieland seems to always be rockin tug. JUSTICE FOR CRAZY BUS!!!!
My friends went on mind eraser a few weeks ago and they said there was barely any head banging. And when there was they could barely feel it. Also they were in the very back which is the most rough, right? Did they just get a good ride or has coaster studios been LYING?
In terms of flat rides. Troika is my JAM!
Spider is also really fun but the problem is whenever theres a line at all it takes sooo long for them to load it up. A long ride cycle. And takes a long time for them to get everyone off. Its only worth it as a walk on in my opinion.
Dont know why i didnt comment this on your newer video but, there you have it!
well thanks for commenting regardless
@@themeparker7293 crazy bus is too underrated and it makes me megasad
@@illegalpizza7285 maybe one day it'll get the recognition it deserves
@Theme Parker anothet thing that makes me megasad is the fact that im too tall to ride it now. :(
When I went on mind eraser my head only bumped on the twisting upside down
It’s funny that you mentioned that mind eraser wasn’t the best model because when I recently went to Elitch’s, while I was riding dragon wing I saw somebody coming out from mind eraser on a stretcher
hahaha no way!
@@themeparker7293 yeah I’m pretty sure they had a neck thing on so I’m sure you could guess what happened
@@lilcannoli5044 wow
I saw someone go on it, and when they pulled back in she was having a seizure…
i’d probably agree with these. i went on the sidewinder for the first time a few weeks ago and it was actually a lot more fun than it looks. when you start, it’s a lot faster than you’d think and the drops are actually pretty scary, it’s super fun though, i definitely recommend it if you ever come to elitches
Agree 100%
Yeah but are any of these coasters ever open? I swear to god everytime I go the big rides are never open
Typically the guaranteed opens every time I’ve gone are the mind eraser, boomerang, and for some reason I’ve seen the half pipe open 9/10 times, but the rest are a chance
Especially side wineder, half pipe, and the canyon water one which are the best rides in the park
Yeah most of them are I went on all besides side winder P. S mind eraser is really fun just don't go on it if you have a weak stomach
most of these are but sidewinder is closed a lot tbh
My home park used to be BGW. Want to go to Elich at some point, but I’m not expecting much. The SLCi rode at KK was bad, and they were the new trains. So Mind Eraser is probably going to give me a concussion, lol. I also lived nearFronteir City in OKC, but it was on the other side of town, so I never got to go there.
Yea Elitches uses some old trains, but it's still not horrible...hopefully you have a good time at Elitch's if u make it. Let me know if you like Diamondback or Sidewinder better
Busch Gardens Tampa is by far my favorite theme park I've ever been to. Animals and roller coasters? Sign me up! The SheikRa is my favvv I love how it makes my stomach drop TWICE per ride. Six Flags Chicago is my 2nd fav (Raging Bull and American Eagle 👌) but I haven't been to a lot of other theme parks besides all the Orlando ones
I’m going to elitches this weekend and it’s going to be my first time on a roller coaster
I can’t wait for them to open elitches back up! 😭
Same!
There open
Nice video! Haven't been here since 2018. I also 100% agree about Lakeside. That place is sketch as hell.
So i am prepping my self for next week, i am going to elitches 😰 and i am terrified of rollercoasters but i don’t wanna be a woos infront of all my friends cuz it’s a band class trip.
DUDE YOU ARE ME 😭 i’m going tmrw and i’m so scared 🥲
1. Sidewinder (They've done a much better job keeping this one open for the 2022 season and the launch and first drop combined is just so much fun)
2. Half Pipe (The spinning sensation combined with the launch is great it just sucks if your pod doesn't spin much)
3. Twister 2 (It goes fairly fast, has good air time imo and I think it just a really solid, fun wooden coaster.
4. Mind Earaser (It can be fun but I don't like having to focus on not banging my head during the ride plus the line for this often get really long.)
5. Boomerang (This coaster is just really boring to me and the line moves real slow.)
To prevent your head from banging on mind eraser I would lie your head back
Thanks for letting me know about Kaleidescape!! We love Meow Wolf!!
First off, FINALLY SOMEONE IN THE COASTER COMMUNITY CAN PRONOUNCE ELITCH CORRECTLY!!!! Good job!! Being a Colorado native myself, I completely agree with your rankings. Sidewinder has to be the smoothest coaster in the park, and it definitely is my favorite because of the airtime on those drops. I have to disagree with you about Kaleidoscape though. Kaleidoscape seems so pointless and weird like some sort of LSD trip fever dream. I get that it is an art piece, but I just think it was a dumb decision. I rode it once and didn't like it, rode it again and I disliked it more. I definitely preferred Ghost Blasters even though it wasn't a unique experience. I found a couple of errors in your video. They actually did have a kiddie coaster before Blazin Buckaroo, it was called Cactus Coaster and operated from May 27, 1995 until 2012. I grew up riding that one back when Six Flags still owned Elitch's in the early 2000's. Sidewinder actually opened at Magic Springs in 1980 and opened at the original Elitch Gardens in 1990. Also, Lakeside isn't sketchy man, just because it is a low budget park doesn't mean that it is sketchy. I actually prefer Cyclone to Twister II, they also have better flat rides except their Spider isn't as good as the original one at Elitch's. Lakeside is way better at night too with all of the neon and florescent lights on all the rides and buildings.
Thanks for the info, it's nice to have a Colorado Coster person in the comments. IDK Lakeside after dark is just not where I would want to take young kids.
Also thanks for the corrections. I'll pin the comment so more people can see the mistakes. This was my first crack at a theme park vid, I'll try to script better next time.
@@themeparker7293 you’re welcome. I understand your view. I grew up on lakeside so I have my own opinion on it.
@@themeparker7293 for sure! Thanks for the pin! It’s, you did a good job! Gotta start somewhere!
I used to call it Elietch Gardens 😂
They made Twister II Into Twister III and it’s MUCH SCARIER
Interesting order to put those in. Elitch's is also my home park. I would rank them as follows:
1. Twister II
2. Mind Eraser
3. Sidewinder (I rarely see this not operating)
4. Blazin Buckaroo - so much fun for such a small ride.
5. Boomerang - While smooth its just a boomerang.
6. HalfPipe - I am to tall to actually ride this so there is that. This ride is closed so often its not even funny.
A typical day for me at Elitch Gardens is i head over to Mind Eraser to check the line. If its short ill ride it a couple of times, if not i head to Twister II and marathon that till i get tired. I usually only ride those 2, throw in sidewinder too depending on the day. I only ride Boomerang if im there with someone else who actually wants to ride it.
This is the only park I can go to 😳
Glenwood caverns got updated with defiance, one of my favorites, short but sweet
Now that i've gotten over home park bias i can say you were right in this video
During one of the biggest drops on twister 2 the lap bar came up, it was scary
I think you’re the first person I’ve found that likes the sidewinder more than the mind eraser 😂
In riding it this year bc I'm not gonna be scared lol
I think a lot of people enjoy minderaser, it's a close second, but I'm just not a fan of head rattling at all
Haha. I’ve been to lakeside at night alone plenary of times. Didn’t notice it was that sketch. I’m pretty oblivious thi
Do they still have the disaster canyon water ride there?
To the best of my knowledge: yes. It is coming back this summer after Memorial Day
As someone who has been to eliches multiple times, i don’t think i would change anything on this list. 👍
thanks boss!
Good video 👍
Glad you enjoyed!
You know to avoid Elitch Gardens when Sidewinder is the number 1 coaster in the park lol. As a former CO native who visited Elitch Gardens often, I can say this park is so sad…
6: Blazing Bronco
5: Mind eraser
4: Half pipe
3: Boomerang
2: Twister II
1: Sidewinder
I'm a coaster and enthusiast, moving to Colorado in the next year or so. What other decently nearby options are there?(like within an 8 hour drive)
Lagoon over in Utah is about it. Luckily a quick flight to Dallas to hit up Six Flags in Ft Worth is affordable.
We also have Glenwood Caverns, Lakeside, and Santa’s Workshop.
Heritage Square closed.
I love this park 😢
Everytime I go to Elitches the Half Pipe is always closed😭
If only it was better run 😭
I went there yesterday and the boomerang was closed Twister II almost got struck by lightning and the Brain Drain had an operator error while I was on it and we stalled upside down for at least 45 seconds.
Edit:The Brain Drain is definitely my favorite I loved being upside down lmao.
wow! sounds like a crazy day!
@@themeparker7293 it definitely was
for my top 5
1) sidewinder
2)boomerang
3)mind eraser
4)twister 2
5)shipwreck falls
and then brain drain is a really fun thriller and so is tower of doom.
I love that the coaster count has actually gone DOWN since I moved away. It used to be home to the first Volare, since god forbid they get anything nice.
Most of the staff at ask always say sidewinder opens at 2 pm, but the days are like a 50/50. I agree with sidewinder being first. Love the airtime there!
I remember the first time I went down sidewinder I was so scared because of how fast it was going down
😂😂 fellow Denverite loving your honesty of how sad this park is. Didn't see twister go once all last year.
Yea it happens
I from Colorado too and I love this park.
I think it’s a nice park too, I just get kinda bummed knowing it’ll be gone in a few years, hopefully something bigger and better will replace it!

Boomerang was the first coaster I rode and the backwards part rally f'ed me up on top of cementing phobias of heights. Cant go in rides that go upside down to this day. I will littersly ride the log foom once and the twister two the eat of the day with a stop at burger stall #? At some point mid day.
I wish six flags would buy elitch gardens back they made the park 10 × better.
I agree with that, but pros and cons for sure!

Twister 2 is actually capable of 3 train ops but hasn’t done it in years
I was thinking it was possible, but thanks for clarifying

My top 6
1. Sidewinder (great airtime and fun when open)
2.Boomerang (smooth and fun)
3. Twister III (better with new trains, hated the old trains)
4. Half pipe (hardly ever open but fun when it is)
5. Mind eraser (absolutely piece of sh*t)
6. Blazer Buckaroo (good for people looking for something not to thrilling)
Thoughts on the brain drain?
My first ever roller coaster was the wooden coaster at Lakeside but I don’t remember what it was called 😭
It's the Cyclone.
I know this was filmed over a year ago. But I was told it’s going down hill there building a new one over by the airport. Im not sure does anyone know.
This is my favorite park, so I don't really appreciate the hate on it, but the ranking is cool👍
I made an apology
The only part that I think you got wrong was Sidewinder opening in 1990 not 1980. I could be wrong but I went to the original Elitch Gardens twice. Once in the mid to late 1980's and once when Sidewinder first opened in 1991.
Now when I go to Elitch Gardens is to take my daughter there. Everytime I go there, I think to myself, THE OLD ELITCH GARDENS IS MUCH BETTER AND HAS A BETTER LAY OUT.
Let’s gooo Brady jersey in Denver, I’m not the only one haha
i like elitches its fun ! mind eraser is my favorite ride in the park. lakeside sucks and its very sketchy i agree. but the glenwood park is fun too :).
Why is lake side sketchy?Or is that your opinion and if so keep it to yourself and what does 8 pm have to do with it?
Just an opinion, but that’s what the comment section is for, so I’m glad you replied. 8pm was referring to sunset, so after dark basically

The original Mr Twister was an intense ride with steep drops and fast and rough. Twister 2 has always been much tamer. Have no idea about Twister 3 Storm Chaser.

@@themeparker7293 My understanding is that Twister 3 isn't any different from Twister 2 as far as the ride itself, but I have no idea if that's true as I don't live in Denver anymore and so won't be at Elitch's any time soon if ever.
not me literally going yesterday (a sunday in july) 😂
I did the boomerang and the number 2 it was fun
