Tim Frisco works with baby Hugo and his older sister, Val, in their backyard compound on Cole Bros Circus. Then watch as the two young elephants strutt their stuff under the Cole Bros. Circus big top..
Good question, Reem. You'll notice that Anthony (a third-generation elephant trainer), who is presenting baby Hugo, is using the guide as a tool to prompt or reinforce training. Anthony's father, Tim Frisco and Tim's wife, Patti, also are carrying billhooks in another routine. I've videotaped the Frisco family around elephants on numerous occasions, and they all carry the elephant guides at their sides whether they're giving the elephants their daily baths (see my separate CZcams video, "Circus Elephant Spa") or leading the elephants from their corral to the big top, or while giving elephants. It's a federal requirement. You might also want to see another of my CZcams videos, "How to train a baby elephant," where Tim Frisco discusses training methods.
Thank you so much for sharing! I LOVE elephants. I attended your circus in Greenville, NC. I rode the elephants and was in total awe! Thank you for the job you do. I can tell you love them. I live on a small farm and raise animals. I look forward to seeing you all the next time you come to Eastern NC. Take care and God bless you and your family.
Whether or not these animals are abused or beaten to perform tricks, it's still disgusting that these magnificent creatures are stuck on the back of a moving caravan most of their lives to spend a few hours performing tricks for pathetic onlookers. Disgusting that this is even trying to be justified.
Nice to see something other than a chopped up PETA propaganda film. I grew up in a circus family and have never seen an animal abused, in fact quite the opposite. And when I was younger there was a much wider variety of animals in circuses like llamas and zebras that weren't so much trained animals but animals that merely paraded around on "Spec". Even the ornrey llamas on my grandfather's show were treated better than the humans.
