WE RESCUED A DOG IN FRANCE AND FOUND IT A NEW HOME - ALL IN 3 DAYS!

- This dog rescue video isn't like what I normally post on my channel, but as a huge dog lover I just had to share the experience! We were on a family holiday in France last year when this very timid, stray dog appeared outside the house we were holidaying at.
She was so terrified and skinny and didn't look like she had eaten for weeks. We slowly got her to trust us and were able to give her some food and a soft bed outside for the night. She was still far too scared to come in to the house, god only knows what she had been through up to that point.
The clock was now ticking as we were due to fly back to Australia in 3 days but we were determined to find her owner before we left. We tried everything to locate them including calling the local vet clinics and animal shelters even with our terrible french skills, but with no luck! We even drove her to the local police station, where they scanned her but she had no microchip.
We could only conclude that she'd been abandoned... the french authorities were reporting they expected some 100,000 dogs to be abandoned that year in France - a peak following the Covid pandemic. Most of them being simply left on the side of the motorway to fend for themselves when their owners set off for their summer holidays in August!
So we were now confronted with the stark reality of a dog with no home, we were leaving in 2 days, the owner of the house lived in another country and couldn't help and we had no idea what to do! My sister in law who was holidaying with us even considered hiring a car and driving her back to England to re-house her there.
Getting desperate I put a post Facebook and by some miracle we heard from an Australian family that had just moved back to France. They had 2 young boys who desperately wanted a dog and remarkably lived only 3 hours drive away. So the night before we were due to leave we popped the Countess - her new temporary title - in the car and met her new family half way on a french motorway.
Since then we've received updates from the family and I'm pleased to report she has settled in and in a wild twist of fate, has been given the name Whisky, which coincidentally is my own dog's name! Happy days.

Well done. I have 2 GSDs that I rescued. Yesterday, my wife came across a GSD that had been dumped. She was able to get him to get in her truck. He is literally only about 6 months hold and is now our 3rd GSD who has joined our family.
I love German Shepherds! Kudos to you for rescuing just 1... let alone 3!

funfact for you Nikki: in The Netherlands there is not a single stray cat or dog.not 1! granded its only a very small place in comparison to ozz which is 185X bigger,but its a start i guess

Yeah when we spoke to the local Police they said if you take her to an Animal Shelter, with her having no microchip she would have just been euthanised in a day. So we were so happy when we got her a home so quickly. I got the feels!! That is the power of social media!
@@nikkiosborneofficial yw nikki :). i dont know the laws and rulse in ozz on animals. but overhere chipping is mandatory by law. castrating is a choice but many opt to do so.which prevents unwanted doggie births. so there is no moral justification to give a dog a death sentence because they arent wanted or strays in 24'. also overhere besides chipping,if they're dumped people usually instantly call the animal ambo who collects them and either gives them back to the owner or goes to a shelter,to which they get propperly cared for,NOT killed becaus they happen to be a stray. in all honesty nikki,i think you could do a lot for animals with your platform like you unbuggered the koalas. #unbugger-the-strays!? lol i dont wanna sound like a crazed activists or something,im just a doggie lover.killing a animal becaus they are strays to begin with or flat out dumped,is in my opinion animal crualty.you remind me of a qout,be it in your case in a animalistic context: Whoever Save One Life, Save the Entire World. im not religious by any stretch of the imagination,nor do i know if this can be applied in this context.but im sure you get my point nikki,the stuff you do rather it is for helpless animals,or make a stand for autistic people,you are geniun good work,and you're a good person. and no i dont mean to suck up,im just dutch honesty
