    This was so informative and interesting - thanks for sharing your journey!! And you’re right, there is such a stigma about men doing things that make them feel better about their appearance, which is completely unfair. We need to normalise these types of procedures and allow men to do whatever enables them the confidence to be their best selves.

    I’m considering this, the cost is really reasonable without needing a loan. I’m 48 and in the wispy stage, always wearing a hat because I can’t stand my appearance. It held out for years I’ll give it that. I’ve shaved it just to see and I just don’t look good bald, so my only known appearances lately is in a hat. Bald is fine for guys who look good bald, but not all of us do.

    As much as I would love to get a transplant in Istanbul to help with my receding hairline I probably would never do it for a variety of reasons:
    •Trying to find a good legitimate doctor since they're now a dime a dozen
    •Flying over from and back to the US and suffering from jet lag
    •Having to deal with the pain of the local anesthesia
    •Having to stay awake for the entire procedure which could take 8 hours
    •Having to shave my entire head
    •And the one thing nobody ever seems to bring up: how to stop the rest of your head from balding while the transplant area stays the same
    I would never consider doing any sort of prolonged medical procedure unless I'm under general anesthesia like when I had my wisdom teeth removed. That was fine. But I guess I'll just have to put with taking my finasteride/minoxidil combo.

    • @solohour
      @solohour  Před rokem

      I mean...the only one that is remotely a big deal is the pain...and it's for 10 minutes. Everything else is no big deal. But you do you, boo.

    Hey Michael, looking forward to seeing your results! I have done a lot of research and decided to go see Dr. Cinik in July. Thanks to covid it makes everything a little more complicated so my only question is where did you go to get a covid test in Istanbul so I can get re-entry to the US?

    Great video Michael, so interesting to get the lowdown from someone I ‘know’ and respect. I’m lined up to get mine done this year and you’ve convinced me that this is the place to go. A question for you: If you did it over again how long would you have allowed for exploring the city before the procedure and how long would you have spent holed-up in the hotel to recover before the flight home? Bonus question, how long before you can wear a hat?! Cheers from the UK, Luke

    • @solohour
      @solohour  Před 3 lety +1

      Honestly, like 10 days/2 weeks. It's an *incredible* city! You can start wearing hats in a week or so. It's pretty fragile at the beginning. But you get over being self conscious pretty quickly, because it's REALLY common in Turkey to have this procedure. Let me know if I can help with any other questions.
