Kandi’s voice really does “ground” this group. She’s very necessary for the harmony in my opinion.
Absolutely!
Periodddd so tired of the fam narrative that she can’t sing because she has her own voice!
She most definitely has a beautiful voice
Agreed
Agreed!
Love XSCAPE, but that Tamika has ALWAYS had something special with her voice! It’s just so clear, precise & technical withOUT all of the runs/riffs🙌🏾
agree and tiny too...
Both of the Tams are my fav vocally. Just giving ok
She has always been my favorite the most solid vocally hands down
@@Nati_OnAir very strong vocals
Yup and her baby got it too lol ❤ it
I still feel like it's rare that you can find a group where anybody can sing lead at any given time. And actually, the 90's had groups full of talent just like that. We can't find that in today's times.
I feel u but there's new group called Flo that is amazing. Check em out.
@@AngelsWorld405 I jump on that. Also, The Womack Sisters are nice too. Check them out.
Didn't Jeran analyze Flo before? If he did, I remember they had me in awwww
Kandi is not a lead vocalist, she is very pitchy.
@@ineedya123 Kandi is not consistent when she get’s nervous. But she can sing. The deal is all of them can sing and their tones as a group was phenomenal . That’s why none of them made it a solo artist.
ENVOGUE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOBODY can ever sound like Thee KANDI BURRUSS. Her voice is her own and one of a kind.
The Fact that Kandi still hit that note after all these years, sent chills...one of my fav groups..I'm mad they can't come together for this tour!!
Absolute chills! I played that part 3 or 4 times cuz I thought Tameka was gonna hit it. Kandi hit it flawlessly 🙌🏾
Jealous of each other's
A tour with them and Destiny's Child...well 3 of em anyway😅
I went to the Escape concert, one that Latocha was not at, and when I tell you I did not miss her AT ALL..! Tamika sang the hell out of her and her sister parts! She’s really THAT GIRL in the group when it comes to vocals! 🙌🏾😩
Yes, she is!!
I believe it. I hate all that running Latocha does.
I think she's ALWAYS had to play 2nd to her sister... especially after watching their show...💔
BS she carried every lapse in tTny and KANDY verse. When Tamika couldn't; Tocha could.
Tiny*
I read a lot of comments that Kandi can't sing but her range is great...she can sing low and high. She sings from her soul.
The people who said Kandi can’t sing, clearly only listens to auto tune 😂😂😂😂 these women Can sang especially after all of the years.
Tamika tore that note UP, HONEY, she sounded so good! I jumped up and yelled "SING GIRL!!" at the screen! 😩😂😂💯
She hitted a D6!
been obsessed with this performance for the last month. They did so well
I’m so glad you covered this because I’m sick of people saying Kandi can’t sing
Agreed. The entire point of a group is the harmonizing of their voices. Everyone's voice brings something different and it sounds beautiful together. If they all sang in the same registers the sound would be pretty flat.
@@cyvonn Exactly!
right. Kandi can "sang" her face off. She does not have a cookie cutter voice...
She’s gotten better. I think she has had vocal training. Her issue was she didn’t know how to do runs smoothly. She killed it on Masked Singer.
@@TS-ll4hd Thank You and people don’t understand her tone it fits perfectly when they harmonize. Now when Kandi wasn’t doing shows with them none of them could do her parts but now that Tocha isn’t doing shows with them they all are killing her parts.
It's hilarious that Understanding is one of Xscape's biggest hits and that's the main thing they don't have between each other.
😅
Wow...big facts
Ha!
😂😂😂😂😂
Actually, it’s very sad.
Tamika Scott has always been a vocal beast. It seems almost effortless for her.
Kandi be waiting for her part in understanding and she always kills it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The brightness of Tiny’s voice is just 🫦🤌🏾👏🏾👍🏾🫶🏾
All love her voice
I love Tinys voice!!! It’s just something really authentic and unique about it!
Same, always been my favorite in the group.
Agreed
Her growl was the unexpected gem for me
Totally agree!!!
Yes ❤
You can tell kandi loves to sing, she's jumping all over the scale
Kandi has range... From that high note all the way down to her lower register. She's the only one that I hear singing all across the piano keys 🎹😁 #SangKandi
That Damn Part!!!
Tiny too listen to them sing the national anthem
That high note in understanding, the other girl never tried, because she's the only one who had that range.
I've been saying it for years, Tamika Scott has the best voice out of the group. Her voice is so clean and clear. If Kandi don't do anything else she's gonna hit those low notes and that high note on "Understanding"!😂 The girls can sing!!!❤
Tonight is Tiny and Tamika's song! In my opinion, they both shine in this song.Kandy and Latocha shines in Understanding!
People sleep on the incredible vocalist that Tomeka Scott is I swear! Everybody did incredible. Kandi isn't the best singer, but she holds that low note and that high note was flawless!
The Scott sisters are definitely the best singers in the group; however, I do think Kandi has the biggest range because the Scott sisters (as incredible as they are) are not getting down to those low notes Kandi does nor are they reaching her signature high notes. I remember when they toured without Kandi and when they did "Understanding", Tameka sung Kandi's parts but never attempted that high note that Kandi does. I think Kandi really showed her range in this performance - her lower register in "tonight" and then her upper register in "Understanding". She hit the lowest notes and also hit the highest notes and that's what we call range!
Khandi shines as an individual. I feel like she gets lost in the group. She's amazing and has inspired moments.
I have a whole new respect for Khandi’s voice after seeing her perform on and win the “Masked Singer”. I just think that some of the songs they sung back then, didn’t really capture her voice, like the songs she choose to sing on MS.
Yeah she did well in that alto/ semi baritone vibes
I agree
You are so right to pick up on Tiny’s quartet vocal influence! Her dad was in a quartet! Her choices and placements are smooth and natural with a lil umph like quartet styling’s.
🎯🎯🎯🎯
I love them so much, even though Tocha cannot resist doing just a tiny bit too much (even in the backgrounds). Quiet as its kept, Tamika Scott is the real powerhouse though, so it was nice to hear you show her some love here
I always felt her sister’s voice was better. Also, she doesn’t over sing and her riffs are simple, yet affective.
Tocha is so aggravating to me.
@@nunyabizness4824 😂😂😂 I feel u!
@@nunyabizness4824 yes. Her runs are way too much and sound so erratic
I feel like she let her sister shine because she always had to take up for her
Loved this performance. Tocha’s mic was way too high tho. I love how Tameka has mastered her voice. She’s powerful without over singing. I love them!
I agree. Tocha is an amazing singer, just overkills it sometimes. Fall back and sing straight notes like your sister. Tamika is very consistent and kills it, for the good, every time!
@@marlynhunter6384 She tries to over sing everyone else to act like she's the she's Gladys and the other girls are the pips
@@marlynhunter6384 Sister Tamika has always been the best singer, in my opinion.
She really has mastered it. And I feel she doesn’t get enough credit
Lol Toscha voice is just powerful. That mic isn't turned up😂
I would love to see you analyze Chanté Moore's performance on that same BET Awards, it was amazing!!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE JARON‼️‼️‼️‼️
Please do!!
Chante’s performance was definitely otherworldly! She’s definitely a talent that I’d say is underrated.
@@shawnjones4527 I agree. It's funny tho that I was in a fight on Instagram over Chanté vs Mariah Carey, while I just said that Chanté was underrated as a singer specially when it comes to whistle notes and Mariah wasn't the only one capable of doing it. People went nuts... It's sad that the mainstream industry didn't support Chanté as she deserved.
@@evelynoliveira922 and Chante is older than Mariah and ain't lost a LICK of her voice!! 💯
If I were these new singers, I'd go in the studio and cry after that performance. I miss this era of music. I live in the nostalgia of the 90s I swear!
The new girls need to set down…..as the old folks say, not sit down but SET down!
Tell it again!! 😆
I do too.
There's music after the 90s? Baby I can't tell 😏😅
Her voice grounds their sound, folks can hate and slice it however they want but there is clearly something missing when she’s not there. And people forget she sang a LOT of lead to get them out the gate!
As a person who has majored in Arts of Music…. I wouldn’t say a person has a huge range just because they are HITTING a note of a certain range. Hitting & sustaining notes and melodies are two different things. Sustaining not just the note that’s being targeted but sustaining that range in the entire song or more than a few seconds. When you have a huge range you have to protect it to sustain it and Kandi has breath and time for these high notes because she isn’t sustaining the song at its best. LaTocha control in her lower range is crazy. Kandi is amazing and her high notes are clear but still. Kandi’s approach and the Scott sisters approach of range are of course different but the Scott sisters has more range. Someone who doesn’t offer as much as the best vocals in the group HAS to bring something to the table like writing and signature high notes. Now when Kandi doesn’t sing with the group, the group sounds off because I agree that her low notes are insane. Her lower range shines a light on her tonality. Just as the upper range shines in the Scott sisters. But yeah.
@Blessed AndFavored chile u hit this right on the nose......yes, yeesss, & yeeessssss to all that u said. I been arguing wit ppl for forever about Kandi's voice. Yes sis can sang but those Scott sisters are something different & special. Everyone acknowledges Kandi for her low range & being able to hit that high note that she hits in -Understanding but like u just stated hitting & sustaining are 2 totally different things.......if anything Latocha is HITTING, SUSTAINING, & everything else a person can do to successfully be able to send chills through ya body wit just their singing voice.....but I can admit that they're 1 group where EVERY last member can actually SANG!! They all can carry if need be & they all can lead on a song if need be!! Not every group **especially in today's time** is blessed wit the ability to where they're all able to possess that type of talent
No the Scott sisters, Tamika.
@@reseyworld right
One thing bout Kandi & yall can say what yall want but she gonna always hit those high notes!!!
Tinys always been an underrated vocalist. I love her work with Mariah Carey
What work is that? I was unaware. I'd like to check it out.
@@meandepiphany That is what I was about to ask. Not sure if they meant to say, they would love for her to work with Mariah Carey or not.
@@meandepiphany Mariah Carey did a remix with Xscape and DaBrat of always be my baby…
@@loviedove3171 also they wrote songs for her rainbow and charm bracelet albums
Yes! Tiny is underrated & needs to be acknowledged for the talent that she is.
Kandi’s voice is an instrument. Ignorants could never understand. This group can’t do without her. PERIOD!
Periodt!
Right
Yes they can chile
@@greatnessbound you right they can and have but has never been as successful without her. Now that she’s back and another member is gone the group is booked and busier than ever soooo. Yeah
'Ignorants' as a noun is finishing me
Love XSCAPE! I don't really care for Kandi's lead voice but it is everything when she sings bottom during the course/hook parts. I really like the way their voices blend.
Tamika definitely has the best voice. But I love this group. Who Can I Run To will always be one of my favs from them.
On me
This the comment! I love her and Tiny’s…
Tiny & Kandi have unique voices!!!! Kandi can sing in my OPINION! My girl definitely does has a DISTINCTIVE VOICE doesn't mean she can't sing though!!!!
The bottom line is, they all have great vocals🎤🎤🎤🎤
I love when Kandi sings “Tonight” make me want to look into her eyes too 😂😂😂
Love them all but tiny gave me goosebumps, she’s powerful to be so tiny and khandi killed it with that high note
💯
They sound great. It always blows my mind how artists can sing the same song for 30 years and still sound good
Yaasssss I looove it! I feel like Kandi singing “tonight” was like she was telling a story lol but on understanding… that high note gave me chills lol wheew chyyyy
Tamika and Tiny were always my favorite voices in the group.
So much Tocha hate on here. They all sang and shine in different areas and that's why we need ALL 4 OF XSCAPE (as if they can hear me)!!!! Tiny's grawls, Tamika's control, Tocha's Runs, Openess of her notes that is piercing beautifully and Kandi's low lows, high highs and harmonizing with her unique voice.
People really be sleeping on Kandi like her lower register isn't top tier and so is her higher register. I love me some xscape and love this type of music man. I wasn't around when they were out but I just love them. Another great analysis
Is*
What a time to be alive! You may have missed it in real time (it was so fresh and amazing to witness) but that’s the beautiful thing about real artists. Their work never dies and every generation gets to enjoy it
Her lower register is far from top tier.
Kandi's range is amazing! Random thought I'd like a rock album from Kandi.
I recently watched all Kandi's performances on The Masked Singer and I said she did the BEST with rock songs, her voice sounded so full and strong!
@@SirEclectic I honestly think they that is more of the genre that best fits her voice. She does well with r&b in the group.....but as a soloist I think that would fit best
Hmmm...I never thought about that but it could work.
Nooooo
Whoa that never crossed my mind but OKAY!
I luv Tamika's voice. It was VERY smooth.
I was never fond of Kandi's voice, but she did amazing in this performance! It's like she put her all into it, and I can see it and hear it! This was a good xscape performance! Good job ladies!🔥
Kandi voice is different and it make a good combination. They sound so good together
I LOVE Kandi's voice. She kills "Tonight". Jaron, your analyses of these vocalists is absolutely brilliant. So are your demonstrations. ❤
Hands down Tamika has always had the best voice however I love them all together.
Facts
You mean Tiny? 🤣
Tamika Scott
Dude you better SANG! Keep on giving us the "how to" instructions. Got me throwing stuff at my laptop while I'm at work.
Tamika voice has always beeny favorite... Her sound so natural and she don't have to do all the extra stuff
Every time he said "SING KANDIIII" I peed on myself a little 😂 So cute.
He’s so nice!!!!!!!! 😂 especially when it comes to Kandi’s pitch
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I thought I was the only one who noticed.
His face said it tho lol
Cause the pitch was off😂
@@ashleydenise9875 Where was the pitch off??
Deliver them high notes Kandi! They all sounded great and she shows the range of her voice. Their voices have really matured. 💕💕
Kandi has the kinda of voice that’s hard to find. When it’s good it’s good. The others are easy to find. In my opinion 🤔
Tamika and tiny sound so good. They never try to over sing they give just enough. Sometime all the runs make a song sound sloppy to me if they are not executed well
Tamika's Vocals topped it all..
I continue to say that each of the ladies voice compliment the other. Love the harmony but Tomicha’s voice is very inspirational and is hands down the ‘Luther Vandross sound of the group!’
Agreed. Their harmonies are beautiful.
That Dang TAMIKA !!! OMG , SHE HAS A VOICE ON HER !!! SHE CAN SINGGGGG!!!
Tiny’s voice is the glue of Xscape!
I think it's Kandi. Her voice really binds the harmony. I think they will be vocally discordant without her.
What type of glue gorilla glue for hair 😅
@@kyryltaraewa4487 I wouldn’t buy a ticket, if Kandis not on tour. Because no one can sing her parts.
@@kyryltaraewa4487OH NO!!! 🤭🤭🤭
They all have very distinctive sounds. ❤❤ to hear them as a group. Kandi’s voice is amazing. Collectively they make good music.
They still got it👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 They all can sing
Kandi is amazing she can carry that bottom and top.
Escape got their much deserved flowers with this one! Kandi definitely knows how to turn lemons into lemonade! I'll never forget the Phaedra & Porsha's side-eye when Kandi told them Escape was going on tour. Haters gon' hate! But you can never block God's blessings! The girls have never sounded better!!
Sorry I hollered when you said Kandi knows how to turn lemons into lemonade 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@moni23me I was quoting Kandi's mom, LOL! She is very talented!
I've seen them live when they were on tour with Tamar and Monica and they did not disappoint!!! The show was great! I still ove their music. Timeless.
Tamar had the best set of that tour , I wish she put more into her own music
Same, was a great show! Xscape showed out!
That tour was indeed incredible! One of my favorite concerts for sure! ❤
I loved that show too…I always tell people that it was a concert of SINGERS!!! Just pure talent.
They came to Mississippi!
Each lady brings something special to the group.
Kandi sounded great when she hit that note we know who got the voice in the group. Great job 👏 good performance
Knowing what we know now, you can tell they started off a bit, a fluster, but the professionals they are, they get right nitty gritty wit it! I loved this rendition. Now we need EnVouge to get themselves together enough to have a good medley rendition of their greatest hits.
They all can sing, but they are absolutely great together ❤️ 💜
So true. Their voices are really mature yet authentic to the 90s. I have been watching this performance over and over for the last few days. Someone said Kandi’s voice is an instrument, Tamika’s voice is crisp and Tiny’s is underrated. So accurate. I think the average non-vocalist mistakes riffs and runs for best vocalist. I love how you technically explain the other sounds and tones to your audience that the average non-vocalist would assume is not good signing.
This group by far is one of the best...EVER
Once again Tamika Scott coming through with flawless vocals!!! She is so underrated!! S/n: His facials at 8:48-9:00 tells you all you need to know! Lol!!!
That’s the other one
Oh, you mean LaTocha
BRAVA ,BRAVA , BRAVA, BRAVA!! I was in highschool when they came out, so they bring back so many memories. I love they way their voices has matured and showcasing the vocal ranges they have. I missed the Soul-Train awards but I'm glad the footage is available. They all still got it but them sisters are on point. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow, Tamika and Tiny sound great! I've never heard Tiny sing before
They give me chills. They ALL can sing
What’s crazy is as a kid I had my favorite and as an adult I have my new favorite. I appreciate all of them but I don’t think Tamika Scott has had her moment yet. After she apologized for her behavior with Kandi I really listened to her music and her voice is ageless, timeless, a great fit for R n B . I think she is the bridge in this group of phenomenal women.
Please do Whitney Houston He's All The Man That I Need live version when she preformed for the troups 🙏🏾. Like this comment if y'all agree 🤞🏾
That performance was beyond AMAZING!!
🔥🔥🔥
Oh you just brought a tear to my eye… I’m going to watch that next..
Got chills just thinking about it!
I have always felt that people never put enough respect on kandi name.. usually a real singer does tho.. like she be covering the bottom and people don’t be understanding how hard that is.. kandi be killin it frfr.. they all sound great tho
I love Kandis voice on the chorus to “who can I run to”.
Breath control is what it is an they still articulate them notes
Tiny baby girl got that voice.
I absolutely loved this performance! They killed it! ❤❤❤❤
All of them can SANG!!! Them and EnVogue were my favs in the 90’s some of the best quartet groups ever!
I really loved this performance, one of their best live performances! ♥️
"You better growl Tiny" 😂 Tiny and Tamika are my faves and I'm about to play their song "So in love". ❤️🔥
I loved this performance. Everyone has a place. I really loved your analysis of each.
I know these are not “reaction” videos but your reactions bring me so much joy. And also, YOU BETTA SIIING!
They are better together than apart, i love them their harmony together is so beautiful
You better critique this!! Great video Sir!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
The Scott’s always got my vote. I love their voices. But, Tiny does her thing in this performance and Kandi is still growing on me… overall the performance was 🔥🔥
"SING Kandy!". He sounded so cute in that high pitched voice.😂😂😂
I think they are the best female group harmonizing which is crazy since they have so much friction lol they voice and stage presence you cant tell they have that much friction
I have loved the blend of their voices from day 1!!!
I love how people have always underestimated Khandi like she wasn't the best vocalist in the group. Plus, she wrote (with Tiny) most of the songs not to mention what she wrote for others.
Stop with these lies she didn't write most of Xscape songs and tiny definitely didn't. The Scott sisters are the company ces of the group.
The sisters delivered like they always do! Kandi really told the girls to watch their mouths and, Ms Tiny, I forgot how good her voice is.
Thank you for breaking this down. There are notes that Kandi can do that the rest of the group can't do!!!!
Idc what anybody say kandi I love hearing kandi sing Tongiht she sounded like she was getting more comfortable and her lows are so damn good I love them
They sound so great together, their voices blend so nicely, same with Envogue ! 🔥
Tamika Scott and Tiny are the vocalist of the group. LaTocha can sing but she can be pitchy at times and also her misplaced runs that she’s loves to do. Glad she was more controlled here.
“Misplaced runs” has me cackling… because it’s true.
You are really sad to tell these lies. When anyone who isn't a liar knows the Scott sisters are th best singers in this group.
Tocha sings in cursive
I cant pick a favorite voice in this group. They all bring something and hold their own. Definitely one of the best groups for vocal ability.
I wish they get it together
Cause together they bring so much joy to everyone❤️
ESCAPE Still Got IT.
you got it black sisters. I feel it in my soul, tears of happiness.😢drop from my eyes❤
Thank you so much for analyzing this! Excellent as always...
Love your videos and the way you analyze the vocals. Always informative and inspiring . ❤❤❤❤
I LOVED this video and the recap of Xscape singing. I’m a 30 year fan!! This really took me back. I’m a new subbie. 🎉
