    The problem is they need to learn to eat in a sustainable way. You can’t spend the rest of your life eating 1000 calories a day and working out 6 hours a day. Moderation is key and moving each day.

      And unfortunately, she had her own show where she taught people the same techniques and would get mad that they didn't get her results.
      I hope she's doing better now and isn't trying the same approach as before.

    I know the issue isn’t with Alis’ discipline. She lost the weight and maintained that loss and great figure for 5 years. That obviously requires hard work and dedication. It was only after that sexual abuse that she retreated into that a scared person and most likely gained the weight as a defence mechanism to fend off unwanted male attention or become invisible. That’s really common in sexual abuse. Or perhaps she merely fell into depression and comfort ate her feelings. Either way, it is understandable and I don’t blame her lack of motivation or dedication. Trauma is real and the effects can be ugly. But I know this is something she can overcome. She can lose the weight again and I wish her nothing but the best on her journey 🙏

    I find it ironic that TD Jakes, of all people, is dispensing advice to Ali Vincent. After all, he also authored a diet book called "Lay Aside the Weight", after he lost a considerable amount of weight, and he has gained most of his weight back as well.

    The dirty secret about a LOT of people who are skinny or whatever, is that they aren't doing ANYTHING to be that way. Which is to say, they are not, NOT eating. And working out...what's that? These particular people were born with a TERRIFIC metabolism that doesn't need to be kickstarted or whatever. The others of us HAVE to go that extra mile and sometimes you WILL burn out because you have to do so much just to maintain. And don't get me started on calorie counting. I knew someone who started at 1600 calories per day. At first they could lose weight. Then over time, 1600 calories was only good enough to maintain. But THEN, 1600 calories and they started to gain weight all over again! This person even went to the doctor and the doctor said he was OK, that he didn't have a THING to be worried about. And then BOOM the weight came back. He didn't want to gain the weight back and he didn't do a thing to let anything go. It's like your body already knows its going to be heavy or skinny. You DON'T have to be 500 pounds, but sometimes you're NEVER going to be 110 pounds either...😑.

      Most Americans need to aim not to be obese than anything else. There are only few people with "terrific" metabolism. It is mostly about diet. It is not even about exercise.

    • @bimbowithadegree420
      @bimbowithadegree420 Před 6 lety +16

      Lance Catterall No they were just put on a wrong, harmful and unsustainable plan that only shredded water weight and burned fat in a way that honestly they could not be expected to maintain at home.

    • @Yourhandleshouldbeatleast3
      @Yourhandleshouldbeatleast3 Před 6 lety +2

      Lance Catterall No, their metabolism slowed down and their leptin increased.

    • @darkounet2585
      @darkounet2585 Před 5 lety

      The metabolism slowing down is not everlasting. It has been proven back in the 40's with the Minnessota Experiment. As soon as you start eating more, your metabolism fires back up. You can still reverse-diet too. That's kind of the whole point of doing it. Increasing your metabolism while not putting on a substantial amount of fat.
      If metabolic adaptation was everlasting every anorexic that did beat the disease would become obscenely obese once they resume a healty well balanced diet. It's not the case. Same goes for every bodybuilder out there when they drop calories for an extended periode of time to prep for a show.
      I knew nothing about nutrition a few years back and lost 100 lbs +. I did crash diets, basically starving myself on probably not more than 1000-1200 calories a day for extended periods of time, while my maintenance clories being somewhere around 2.500-2.600 calories a day. So a pretty severe caloric deficit. I nevertheless never gained the weight back.
      Problem here is that they all lose the weight in a way that is not sustainable for them in the long run. They don't learn about nutrition, TDEE, macros and stuff like that. They're provided with meal plans and do tons of cardio. They learn nothing that can help them sustain the weight loss in the long run.
