    Just watched your west highland way videos and this one was a bonus 👍🏼 Thanks for getting me through my nightshift!!! Think I'm going to do the same next year, just started walking so I'm a bit of a novice! Done the cairn table a few times but that's it! You make it all look so easy as well 👍🏼

    You had great views from the summit a bit jealous there, I went up last year in May for the 3rd time and had zero visability and the snow was up to the base of the trig point. Roll on your 2017 videos.

      I know how you feel Nigel, I first went up in 2011 and also had zero visability just wind, sleet and snow at the top, felt like a big waste of time (didn't get snow like you did though!). I got lucky this time, picked the best possible week for my trip.

    You had a good year mate, I hope to see you back out again next year, doing some more hiking and making video's. Atb Glenn,

      I might do a bothy trip before the end of the month

      That will be good, I quite like going to visit a bothy now and again, but I don't really like staying overnight in them either.

      It's the mice that bother me Oh and the chance of having to share with a snorer

    Good video Andy. One small request, next year please pack a lens-cleaning kit for your camera gear! The lump of dirt in the middle of the lens was distracting.

      request noted Anthony, it's actually a new camera I need but haven't any spare cash at the moment

    Well done Andy, great video of the WHW too, did you stay up Ben for the night? Planning on doing the same route late Sept 17 for Bowel Cancer charity...your videos will help me plan my wild camping stop-overs.....thanks!! How heavy was your pack by the way lol ;)

    I've been watching your WHW videos to help me plan where to wild camp. 👍🏼 I'm planning to do the same route in July, WHW then Ben Nevis to finish off my trip. I'm a novice walker/hiker..I've never really hiked solo before, this will be my first time. Will there be available maps for Ben Nevis? Where can I get one? Inputs will be greatly appreciated. ☺️

      Ordnance Survey Explorer 392 or Ben Nevis Summit Harvey Map XT25 should do the trick. The Ben Nevis Tourist route starts at the Visitor Centre in Glen Nevis, it usually gets very busy during summer so just follow the crowds and you'll be fine. Also have a look on Walkhighlands website>> It won't let me paste the link here so search it on Google.

      head for the hills Ah, thank you! When you say Tourist Path, does that mean there are other paths? I'm meaning to challenge myself with this Scotland trip..not sure I want to just be following the herd. :-/ That being said, I don't really have much experience. I don't even know how to use a compass, to be honest.

    • @hfthscot
      @hfthscot  Před 6 lety

      There is an alternative route called the Carn Mor Dearg Arete, once again you can find details on Walkhighlands but CZcams is not letting me paste the link. It is much more difficult though and you would really need a map and compass and some hill walking experience. I'd go with the tourist route, just make sure to start early morning or late afternoon to avoid the crowds.

      head for the hills I climbed up Snowdon, does that qualify as hill experience? Lol. Although I tagged along with a Mountain Leader so I didn't have to read the map or use a compass. I climbed a couple of mountains in North Wales, in Philippines, and a hill in Norway..but the highest so far was Snowdon..and Ben Nevis is higher than Snowdon. Oh dear.... :-/ How early are we talking here?

      @hfthscot  Před 6 lety

      first light! 5am lol. Also you should choose a week day as weekends can be very busy. The path is fairly easy to follow by the tourist route, you would probably get away with using the Walkhighlands description.

      The borders of England, Scotland and Wales are man-made. Ben Nevis is in northern Britain and was there long before Scotland came into your imagination...
