+thesphynx well, I mean you have to think of the fact that he knew it would kill him. The Doctor knew that absorbing the time vortex and expelling it back into the TARDIS would cause him to regenerate. Sure, there might have been many other ways to do it, but if he was going to die, the Doctor was going to kiss Rose Tyler, even if it was the last thing that regeneration ever did. He was so in love with her, he wasn't gonna pass up his last opportunity to show her that...
She's not invulnerable though. The time vortex would've killed her, burned her up, just like the Doctor said. She's only human after all. Hint: Donna Noble
I always think when Rose says 'I want you safe. My Doctor." it's both Rose and the TARDIS speaking. Because they both love him, and would do anything to protect him.
That's always been my thought. His relationship with the Tardis has always fascinated me too. I also think that the reason the Doctor (10 was literally made from the love he felt for - made for her; yay self-sacrifice) was able to care for her so much was because she, if but for a moment, knew exactly how he felt and understood him. In The Moment (wink wink) Rose was both herself and the Tardis- two entities that loved the Doctor and understood him on many levels. Rose brought him life and fun and a chance to see the universe anew again; she unjaded him. He loved that about her. The Tardis is his closest and longest companion. He loves her. Both of these two combined... an intoxicating mix for our lovely Doctor.
In light of seeing what happened in the episode with that Tardis eating creature ”House” I am inclined to believe you. In which case when the 9th Doctor absorbing the vortex at the end of it is doubly sad because that meant not only would he die but the Tardis’ consciousness was the closest it had ever been to the person it love! 😭
That's not the Tardis. Its Rose. Rose absorbed the Time Vortex as the Doctor said. Not the Tardis. Its all Rose, the same way the end of Season 3 was Martha's moment or the end of season 4 was Donna's moment.
I always thought that at 1:28 "you are tiny" sounds exactly like the actor who plays the Tardis in the Doctors wife episode. Its a stretch to think it is all planned though, especially because that episode was a one off written by Neil Gaimen. I think its all just a fitting coincidence.
If you notice, Rose/Bad Wolf has tears streaming down her face. Speculation is, she could see her own downfall, being pulled to Petes world and she knew there was no way to stop it. Bad Wolf knew she couldn't stay with the Doctor forever.
Oh I think she saw everything. All ends. All the times the Doctor dies and all the times he/she would die. Everything. Imagine that. All futures, all possibilities...that would burn just about anyone. She even says it.
Billie Piper absolutely nailed this fuckin part. The literal, biblical awesomeness of her delivery through a strong London accent is just perfect at portraying the nervous god she’s become. “I see every single atom of your existence and I divide them” has gotta be one of the best delivered lines in the show’s history
It makes me kind of sad that everyone is dissing the "I think you need a Doctor" line when it is perfect for the Ninth Doctor. Nine always tried to make his life a little brighter with silly humor and stupid puns. In the very first episode he asked Rose, "Are you plastic?" and then, after knocking on her forehead, said, "Nope. Bone-head. :)" A little bit later, after neutralizing the mannequin arm and tossing it to her, he said, "See? 'Armless." Lines like this are perfectly IC for Nine. He understood this was one of their last moments together, that he would die after taking the Time Vortex from her, and so he did one thing he always did (make a silly joke/pun), and one thing he always wanted to (kiss Rose). I thought it was perfect.
I swear to god everyone dissing the ninth doctor pisses me right off. He was my original doctor and Christopher Eccleston bought Doctor Who back to life. He paved the way for the series. He did an amazing job and his interpretation of the doctor was seriously brilliant. Doctor who isn't the same now Eccleston and Tenant were both equally amazing and this scene just exemplifies how it.
But what about Matt Smith as 11???? He was equally as good and cute with his bow tie/suspenders thing..... AND DON'T FORGET THE "BOW TIES ARE COOL" PART EITHER!!!!!!!!!!
@Reunite The British Empire why do you think he was the most unpopular??? whenever he got angry, he was so cute with his aggressive bow tie straightening.
"I can see the whole of time and space, every single atom of your existence and I divide them" i swear i got shivers when she said this line it was so bADASS
I don't think anyone considers him underrated, he was incredible, they just didn't have the SFX budget they do now. His acting was fantastic, and did a wonderful job, the only downside was that he only did one season, and then David Tennant captured our hearts.
And then David Tennant ripped our hearts into pieces, burnt them and now the ash is still crying under my bed because I watched Doomsday yesterday X_X Over-reacting? I think not!
Damn, the master went insane by just looking at, and that bitch absorbed it. This was my favorite moment from this series without a doubt, Rose was the best companion of the doctor.
To be fair, it was the constant drumming from Rassilon in the time-locked Gallifrey that actually drove the master mad. The vortex he looked into was just the medium for the message. But still, this is one of the great moments of the series. (Sadly, Rose isn't my favourite companion by the way, but I've been watching since before Romana left the TARDIS....)
Kartissa Tom baker was my favorite, and there is no other for me. I was just 10 years old and sitting on a 8 inch black and white portable tv...... Dr. Who was all there was. Nissa, Teagen, and K9...... Oh the memories of the imaginations we had back then. good stuff yeah!
Bad Wolf is a badass concept. The Doctor isn't in awe of the bad wolf really, he's scared for Rose and that shows the kind of people the both of them are. Rose is just trying to make things right, not really seeing the dangerous amount of potential for change she may cause. She just wants to protect the man she loves. The Doctor knows that in order to save Rose, he has to die but he does it anyway, sealing it with a kiss. The words Bad Wolf are now for a purpose, ending the time war and Rose Tyler- for she herself is a purpose of the paradox.
Completely. Rose meant the world to me growing up and she helped me get through so many hard times. She meant just as much to me as any of my friends. Maybe even more. I really did adore her. There was no equal feeling to me then getting home, even after a horrible day of bullying, and putting on Doctor Who. Made me feel immediately like everything was right in the world :)
@@TheTardisDreamer I feel this, I first saw doctor who around 2015ish when it aired on Disney xd for a short time. Rose was such an inspiring and well written character.
You think it's a long time since this was aired. but I can remember: "There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream. People made of smoke, and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger. Somewhere there's injustice. Somewhere else, the tea's getting cold. Come on Ace. We've got work to do."
"Everything Dies" how interesting that that was the first lesson that the doctor taught her when they were travelling. Taking her to the end of the Earth to watch Earth and the Sun die. Got to love Rose, She understood the Doctor thanks to this and helped him heal so much.
I miss the Davies era so much, there was just a raw power behind his writing, a mythology. It wasn't just a sci-fi show. Now, its still good but the raw emotion, the simultaneous vulnerability and unattainability of the show is gone.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Nothing against modern Doctor Who, but the era of 9 and 10 had a certain mystical quality to it that nothing else has. It was a like a parallel world you could get lost in. Despite the cheesy special effects, the stories and characters felt incredibly real, and we all laughed and cried along with them. From Season 5 onwards, it was a completely different show. All the charm and mystery were stripped away and it became just another generic, quippy sci-fi drama, with 11 just acting like a goofy child all the time, the stories just becoming more and more convoluted and always having to incorporate some kind of pop culture reference or social commentary. Going back in time and messing with famous historical events is fun, but with a few exceptions, post-Davies Who just doesn't have the emotional weight of the 9 and 10 era (although I will say that "The Angels Take Manhattan" was a hell of an episode). I'm not saying the newer seasons are bad, by any means. I found Matt Smith kind of annoying, but Peter Capaldi had some great moments ("Heaven Sent" is good but "Hell Bent" is very underrated) and Jodie Whittaker has done surprisingly well with some rather lackluster stories. But it's Eccleston and Tennant's Doctors, and the Rose era in particular, that reminds me why I fell in love with this show, and it's those seasons that I keep coming back to.
@@mayotango1317 I think Chinball's era has a lot of good potential, especially if stories like Revolution of the Daleks are made. I think the moffat era was a pretty low point, with stories like Day of the Doctor and Asylum of the Daleks. The show will probably never truly die.
2:00 did she say "the Time War ends"? Maybe that's when she sent herself back to become The Moment's conscious and ended the Time War in the 50th anniversary.
This was the remnants battle, the final war between the last of the time lords and the last of the daleks. Thus being the last battle in the legend of the time war.
My GF's online name is River. And her persona is an anthro wolf. As is mine. Funny how many circles we travel, n'cest pas? Not even a Whovian, she doesn't get the reference or the show, it just happened. As a teen, I wanted to see how far from a nuclear blast I could walk, went from the Bronx to Ossining NY, following, you guessed it, a river.
That makes it SO real.Just after hurricane floyd in north carolina I noticed the road was out. a good 9 foot drop into rushing water. I turned my truck sideways to block the road, my headlights lit up a little boy stuck in tree roots quite a ways out into the field. Cold water, mud, tangles. I got him into my truck cab. He said he was 4. He said his name was Russell. He said his two sisters and his mom are out there somewhere. He ran to the edge of the right of way / shoulder in front of my headlights. Standing in the rain at midnight...in his little white Tee-shirt with a cartoony blue smurf face on it. I radioed the sheriff and some good ol' boys with coon hounds. National Guard and US Marines showed up. They gave up the search - helicopter and all...next day. Little Russell was right! His mom and sisters were out there...somewhere. car and all. Under the mud. Probably for good. The scene of that cute little quiet kid at midnight standing in cold rain not crying - not saying anything (He should be sleeping in his cozy bed!) - with that cartoony blue smurf face on that white tee-shirt - in my headlights. I'll never forget it. With the windshield wipers going. The mystery of how he wound up where I found him. Mom had just picked the kids up from her sister's. The kids had been sleeping. "Punky fish" is exactly what happens at a time like that. Some genius decided to leave that in that scene.
@@skeggjoldgunnr3167 Hope you don't mind a reply a year later. What you wrote is very powerful. Your story, and the tie-in to "punky fish," will stay with me for some time.
Damn, Rose looked into the time vortex, Donna may have become Doctor Donna, but rose managed to look into the thing that drove the master himself insane and she resisted it. The Rose Mistress. lol
What the Master saw was the Untempered Schism, through which you can see the entirety of the Time Vortex, which drove him insane. What Rose absorbed was the Heart of the Tardis, which is only a piece of the Time Vortex. There are many Tardises, all powered by a piece of the Time Vortex, but there is only one Untempered Schism on Gallifrey. The Schism allows you access to the entirety of the Vortex, which is way too powerful for even a Timelord to handle. That's why The Master went insane. It was his mind's way of protecting itself from something he was never meant to see. Rose didn't go insane because she only saw and absorbed a little piece of it. Still enough to drive her insane and kill her, but it takes a little longer. When Nine took the power out of her and inserted it back into his Tardis, the energy caused his body to degrade on a cellular level and forced him to regenerate just to survive and that was just a tiny piece of the actual Vortex.
The untempered schism is what the master saw and it didn’t drive him insane. It was the time lords who planted the drumming inside his head to create a link between the time locked Gallifrey and the outside world. “You are diseased. Be it a disease of our own making”.
@@Thatsnotmyhandle I'm pretty sure it was looking into the Schism that drove The Master to insanity. The drums in his head were only planted there by the Timelords to act as a beacon when the time came for Gallifrey to re-emerge. Every piece of canon lore I have ever read, heard or seen has confirmed that looking into the Untempered Schism is what caused the Master to lose his marbles. He became afflicted by the drumming sound at the same time he looked into the Schism, but it only served as a link for the Timelords to find him again when the time was right. Ofcourse, being afflicted by the drumming didn't help The Master's sanity any, but it didn't cause his insanity.
"We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be"
Oh I completely agree! I will watch it over and over. But will usually just stop when it gets to the current Doctor. I'm not really sure how I feel about him. I've seen a few episodes with him in it. Just not sure.... Lol
I really miss that "song" at 3:40, it gave the show a mysterious and somewhat spooky aspect, which to me is what Doctor Who is about; the mysteries of time and space. Not running around like an action hero, gloating on how awesome you are and telling all the baddies to run. I think Moffatt is pumping his inflated ego into the doctors character
Absolutely agreed. The fourth dimension will always be more interesting when its' representative isn't banging on about coffee planets. I mean, how does the 11th even know all this stuff? Even 2000 years of TARDIS travel without sleep would hardly be enough to see the entirety of the UNIVERSE.
10 did explain she never meant to make him immortal she couldnt control the power she brkught him back and intended to just bring him back once but being a god of time at that moment she made him a fixed point in reality but it was a fixed point of nothing he was alive he shouldn't have been one so the universe kept bringing him back cause he in its eyes was meant to be alive he needed to be alive no way about it thats why in torchwood he described it as not coming back but being dragged back into life its why he gasps when he comes he is literally dragged back from death and it hurts
Perfection. I don't give a toss what anyone says, this is one of those pivotal moments that needed a line like, "I think you need a doctor" to add that bit of humor. The speech itself is dark, far darker if you look at the subtext. I think the line was perfect and this was a brilliant scene.
Still get chills. I feel when Rose says "all that was, all that ever could be" she's referencing Journeys End and Donna at the same time, she saw what was going to happen and got so emotional. Love the foreshadowing tbh
Bad Wolf is, at least to me, one of the most terrifying entities in fiction. Because she always speaks calmly, with a voice that is almost scared. The almost childlike demeanour of an entity that can tug at the entire fabric of spacetime continuum with a gesture is more terrifying than any giant Lovecraftian creature or a loud, furious divine. The inability to comprehend even the notion any kind of a limitation, be it physical or moral, displays just how powerful she has become, and it instils such a sublime terror.
Think about this: with all the sight and wisdom and power of the Bad Wolf, even it was confounded by the observation of seeing the sun and the moon, the day and the night, BUT WHY DO THEY HURT? It's like God asking how something works. If they don't know, who does?
This is without a doubt one of the most exciting & incredible moments in all of Doctor Who. No giant special effects to make it cool.. Just good l acting, & pure writing genius! I remember when I first watched this, & it blew my mind! Rose saved him. Spread a message through time. Brought Jack back. And I love how the genius continues with tying in SOO many great things back to this (point and time) Especially what she said to him as BAD WOLF. "The time war ends?" Brilliant! "The Moon & Stars..the day & night.. But why do they hurt?" Agh! So much awesomeness!
1:13 The moment when s the doctor tells her " you are going to burn" and she says " i want you save " , always gets me. She s ready to give her life for his without even flinching. What a contrast to Amy who demands that the doctor is ready die together with her because she doesn't want to live without Rory (in the episode amy's choice)
Rose is my favorite... She has a reason to be so selfless though.. She's in love with him. The others ...not so much. That is why Amy was the way she was... Her eternal love was for Rory and not The Doctor like Rose's is.
ultimatehaxor123 Speaking of Clara, here's an idea. Since she saved the Doctor's time line from being corrupted, wouldn't that make HER the most important woman in all of creation rather than Donna? If the Doctor dies, everyone is doomed.
DeathGodRiku I like Clara, but up to now i did not develop any real emotions for the Character. As much as i was annoyed by Amy, her leaving in "the angels take Manhattan" really got me emotionally. I don't think i would feel s the same for Clara up to now
Jenna DeWitt Yes but there is a difference between "i not in love with you" and "If i don't get what i want you have to die with me". Amy really dominated the doctor which is not a healthy thing if you think about it. A timelord, able to understand and the universe, all that was, can be and must never be, basically doing what a human wants who does not have this insight.
Nobody tops Rose Tyler. She's just so awesome. And when the Doctor says "come here"...the emotions come flooding back and I choke. excuse while I cry... :,)
theres something really beautiful about murray golds music in this scene and in Doomsday. the vocalizing is so mysterious and gives a sense of wonder. i dont know if this makes sense at all but it "feels like outer space". thats as best as i can describe it but its so fitting for a show about a time and space traveling alien
I'm a die hard classic Who fan and I LOVED this scene. to see the Dalek emperor going from arrogant to cowering in fear in less than 2 minutes at the hands of a shop assistant from London
cak01vej besides Time Tots are capable of looking into the schism because of their DNA. Rose is just Human. Not to mention she actually became one with the Time Vortex. Besides it was the romantic moment a lot of 9/Rose fans were waiting for
Marilee Boer Yeh it was jsust like how donna got the mind of a timelord and became the first human timelord metacrises The DoctorDonna it almost killed her cuz a mere human mind cant handle it
I" can see the whole of time and space every single atom of your existence and I divide them...." I'm sorry, but that is THEE most badass statement in any movie ever. She becomes a Demi-God! She defined reality and disassembled it in the daleks. 😂 That's like God "the creator" saying; eh, I'm done with this, and reversing us.
+Anthony Mirabile Exactly. That is how a omnipotent being should be portrayed. I love the Bad Wolf, even if she is just like 230 Volt lightbulb on a 100.000 Volt energy source.Burning insanly bright for a fracture of time.
“I COULD DO SO MUCH MORE!” “Wilfred. It’s my honor.” “How many seconds in eternity?” “I’m the Doctor! Basically, RUN.” “I didn’t know I remembered their names...” 9’s corrupted “FANTASTIC” when torturing the Dalek in the episode “Dalek” “Just this once Rose... EVERYBODY LIVES!” “Doctor... I let you go..” “I’ll always remember when the Doctor was me.” “I don’t want to go...” may seem like a basic death line, but it’s the opposite of Ten’s catchphrase “Allonsy!” Even from the same episode as Bad Wolf the “Coward, any day” line is great. Because remember “Never be Cruel (killer) or Cowardly (Coward). The Doctor’s choice here is making him choose between two evils. The same two evils he promised never to be. “Gallifrey falls no more!” 13’s look of pure pain and anguish at Gallifrey destroyed, again. Bad Wolf is a great moment, but it’s not the best NewWho has to offer. It’s not even the best in that episode.
Same yo. It's such a cool entity. However, considering that it is a physical embodiment of "deus ex machina" they couldn't really do anything that didn't involve a nearly omnipotent being instantly solving every problem. I do think they could've explained why it DIDN'T do much else better. I think they also could've worked side effects of it into Rose's character such as brief points where she can tap into the power and other such things. But alas, they did not. RIP what could have been!
Maybe it's because I then watched Star Trek next generation and saw the character Q and thought bad wolf could've lived on as like a part of Rose that separated itself and looks and sounds like her but acted more like a chaotic neutral character who comes and goes as she pleases and the doctor finds guilty for causing this, I dunno sounded better in my head
+kawaii muffin rainbow when I said that, I was referring to the fact that the Daleks exist for eight more seasons and still more. most of the seasons have been out for years now, so really, it's not a spoiler, when you shouldn't have come here in the first place if you didn't want any
These people aren't just "actors" They are more than that. You will fall in love with them, you will feel their sadness when they are saddened, you will feel their happiness when something great happens to them, and you will feel the excitement of their adventures. You may think it's just a "show" but it's not it's SO MUCH MORE!!The Doctor, rose,Martha,Jack,Donna,Jackie,Mickey,Amy,Rory,River,Clara and many others have taught me so much about life, people, love, even myself and in these thoughts there is always something back there,In the back of my head whispering to me every time I hear that wonderful sound of the universe,it's saying "Here comes the Big Bad Wolf HAPPY BAD WOLF DAY!!
"you can not hurt me, I am Immortal" - emperor "You are Tiny" - Bad Wolf this is the moment when i realized the doctor is not always the most dangerous force in the universe. I.E. BadWolf, DrDonna, TheImpossibleGirl. Three forces of the universe even the doctor must stand aside for. Best Show Ever!!!!!!
Does everyone here hate Nine or something like that? I'm just getting "CHEEEESSSYYY" for his brilliant line of "I think you need a doctor." Like seriously, if it's called Doctor Who and he's referred to as the Doctor, there are going to be puns like that. This was the best scene I've seen in a long time.
"I can see EVERYTHING. All that is. All that was. All that ever could be." I can still remember the chills and sense of Awe when I first heard that line. At that moment Rose is the Ultimate Power in all Eternity. Absolute understanding of reality. Even knowing that it would burn me up, I would still gladly look into the Time Vortex for that.
****SPOILER ALERT***** holy crap. it just hit me like a ton of bricks! the moment that gallifrey burns is supposed to be a timelocked moment. it was unlocked by the bad wolf. hence why the moment takes the form of bad wolf. i feel like a total dunce for not figuring that out before now.
and why she said 'I create myself'...she saw the war and created 'the moment' so that she could pull the future doctors back to save Gallifrey.. I can't believe they had that planned all along, but it's a very neat solution!
Okay, Okay, stick with me here. What if when Rose was giving that speech about death, she was actually seeing The Doctor die for the last time, and that is why she cries in this episode and acts all weird around the doctor when he's first Tennant?! That would be soooooo cool!
She acts all weird around Ten when he regenerates because she saw his face at the end of his life in The End of Time, when Ten spoke to her. This is why she asks if he's Slitheen (because she remembered his face). She met Nine shortly after.
There will never be a better companion for the 9th and 10th Doctor than Rose she loved them and there relationship was by far the most sad especially with David Tennant aka the 10th Doctor and Rose :(
"I can see the whole of time and space, every single atom of your existence and I divide them [...] The Time War ends [...] I bring life" This was the most amazing speech of all the show. It gives me chills every time I see it. I always thought there would be more to this story. Because, it is her the one that actually ends the Time War here, I think the change of director from Russell T. Davis to Steven Moffat hugely influenced the course the show took. I am not saying that the show became bad with Steven Moffat. I like the 11th and 12th Doctor. The show is still entertaining, but it doesn't have as much magic, at least that's my opinion. I would have liked to see how the show would have continue with Russell T. Davis as the director. The first 4 seasons were, to quote the 9th Doctor, "FANTASTIC"!!
Well, as it turns out, if you take the Moment from DotD to be at least influenced by Bad Wolf, then she actually DID end the Time War! THAT Time War anyways...
I quite understand what you mean...to hold the power of god in your hand, to simply command it, and so shall it be. With one word, wipe out an entire race.
You see the thing is, once you realize that you can have whatever you want whenever you want it, and can control the whole world with no effort, that will unavoidably corrupt your morality. It's just a fact of people. Nobody can remain righteous forever with that kind of limitless potential.
2:00 Holy sh** just made a connection I never caught before. I need to rewatch these episodes more often. Did Davies mean for Rose (as the bad wolf) to have ended the time war while doing all this goddess stuff? Is that why Moffat put her in the 50th?
So anyone ever notice the whole Rose teleports out the door between arrival and starting her speech could be her going and doing literally all the things she does with Dona, day of the doctor, and the other times she interfered in order for the show to progress as it did?
When the Doctor's theme kicks in at the end - fucking perfection. If RTD can bring a fraction of this quality in 2023, I'm gonna fall in love with Who all over again.
"I think you need a doctor." probably THE cheesiest line in WHO history, but god dammit, Ecclestone delivered... I don't think any other doctor could've pulled it off. & that kiss was the sweetest, most romantic kiss as well. WAAAAY better than the one at the end of The Name of The Doctor with River Song.
When she says "I can see everything. All that is, all that was, all that ever could be", it makes me think of the idea that everyone sees this when they die and go towards 'the light', and that expert meditators can see this when they're in a certain state.
There are those who channel the father of lies, but there is only one mediator between God and man, that’s Jesus. We can’t talk to the dead, however some people make the mistake of talking to their demons who masquerade as the dead. Read Deuteronomy 18’s warning. However, there is a real spirit of prophecy, and that also is the testimony of Jesus and we don’t seek knowing the future for our benefit, but for kingdom benefit. There is something both beautiful and somewhat exhausting about an extremely deep relationship with God through Jesus, I’m not talking about the average Christian, I’m talking about when the experience is extremely similar to what this video shows and that’s actually why I’m watching this clip. One of the commandments is to rest for a reason we must rest and rejuvenate in the Lord. And when you truly have revelation, you have revelation that Jesus is the only way. To know things can be very hard and it’s impossible to carry it on your own. The burden has to be carried by Jesus. God gives very good gifts, but the gifts are to bring glory to him and not to craft our own ways that reject his perfect ways. Moses wasn’t even allowed to enter the promised land, yet he had to Vail his face because of the sparkle as he glowed from simply distant interactions with God. There are things that are very hard to carry, and we cannot carry them without Jesus. Make sure that you renew the mind daily with scripture and prayer. Read the actual words of Jesus. Start in the book of John. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you the truth, be very careful to submit to God through Jesus so it’s not more than you can handle. And if you’re not yet a believer. Read the Romans Road to salvation along with scripture. God is good. His ways are perfect. The devil doesn’t come looking obviously evil, he will take the good desires of your heart and lead you ever so slightly astray till you’ve completely missed the goodness of God and the only way of salvation and you’re calling and how to live so others to can be saved from eternal separation from God and all his goodness. That’s what hell is. But God forces know when to go to heaven to be with him, but true hell is something so much worse than the cartoons of the lake of fire that hasn’t even happened yet. People can’t comprehend hell, because hell is the stripping away of every single ounce of goodness because God is not near hell, therefore without God there is such darkness, such pain, such stress, such depression, but with God it is all the good, so much better than our ideas of things like love that are perverted, because it is truly God who is love, light, peace, truth, and joy,
Emperor: “You cannot hurt me. I am immortal.” Rose: “ You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space. Every single atom of your existence and I divide them.”
"You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space. Every single atom of your existence and I divide them. Everything must come to dust. All things. Everything dies. The Time War ends." I saw this reboot when it aired back in '05, was about 12 years old. I didn't think much of this speech again until high school, when I had experienced more classic SciFi (and obviously gone back to watch the original, having had time between seasons). This speech is up there for me as one of the greatest of the series, definitely in the top ten. The juxtaposition between the Bad Wolf and Rose's personality in that particular passage makes it feel as though she were being possessed by some Lovecraftean nightmare. Gives the show that hard SciFi feel, even if it's super fantastical. As demonstrated by the CHEESY AS FUCK line "I think you need a Doctor!" God, I love this show.
This scene. I don't care what plot twists they do and what "shockers" they do. This scene is the best scene possibly in the history of television, at least in my opinion. It's all at once, spooky, chilling, exciting, emotional, intense.... Between her eyes, her defeat of the Daleks with MATH, her speech, The Doctor's face, the kiss, the Bad Wolf reveal, THE THEME AT THE END, and not to mention that kiss.... I could go on and on about this scene. I'm obsessed with it.
the fact he sacrifices his life for Roses.. moves me to tears... when he looks at her.. with a look of peacefulness.. it's just all full of feels and stuff so tragically beautiful.. and brave...
Rose, being one with the time vortex which means she existed throughout time simultaneously, saw what the Doctor had done to his home world, so she went back in time to the end of the time war and appeared to him as the bomb's AI and helped him to instead save his people. She changed his history.
Mainly the Daleks really need a second eyeball, a functional pair of legs, and a personality makeover - but, of course, then they would no longer be Daleks.

Porno.
cof cof Series 4 Rose Tyler cof cof
You get that with the episode set outside the universe, where the TARDIS is a person:
"I stole a TARDIS."
"No; I stole a timelord."

@@attackonvariousfilms5389 Yep. The Doctor was a Slitheen the whole time
It makes me kind of sad that everyone is dissing the "I think you need a Doctor" line when it is perfect for the Ninth Doctor.

It's this right here that always proves Eccleston was so underrated.

Rose is over liked she was good but not that good
To be fair, it was the constant drumming from Rassilon in the time-locked Gallifrey that actually drove the master mad. The vortex he looked into was just the medium for the message. But still, this is one of the great moments of the series.
(Sadly, Rose isn't my favourite companion by the way, but I've been watching since before Romana left the TARDIS....)

No one will ever be as amazing as Rose. Oh, how I miss her.

Got to love Rose, She understood the Doctor thanks to this and helped him heal so much.
Lot of friggin depth in the first season
The show died with Chibnall and the stupid childish Jodie Whittaker.
Agree. I stopped watching.
@@mayotango1317 I think Chinball's era has a lot of good potential, especially if stories like Revolution of the Daleks are made. I think the moffat era was a pretty low point, with stories like Day of the Doctor and Asylum of the Daleks.

It's funny that such an emotional scene can make me burst out laughing when I look at the words 'punky fish' on the back of Rose's jumper :D
Once seen it cannot be unseen.
@skeggjold gunnr that's devastating, I'm so sorry.
The Rose Mistress. lol
Amen
The Heart of the Tardis accesses the entire Time Vortex. The Doctor even said “You’ve got the entire Time Vortex running through your head.”
I wish Doctor Who was still like this. It feels like a completely different show now.

I really miss that "song" at 3:40, it gave the show a mysterious and somewhat spooky aspect, which to me is what Doctor Who is about; the mysteries of time and space. Not running around like an action hero, gloating on how awesome you are and telling all the baddies to run.

Perfection. I don't give a toss what anyone says, this is one of those pivotal moments that needed a line like, "I think you need a doctor" to add that bit of humor. The speech itself is dark, far darker if you look at the subtext. I think the line was perfect and this was a brilliant scene.
Those terrifying words
"But I Can"
Still get chills.

"The Moon & Stars..the day & night.. But why do they hurt?" Agh!

1:13 The moment when s the doctor tells her " you are going to burn" and she says " i want you save " , always gets me. She s ready to give her life for his without even flinching. Rose is my favorite... She has a reason to be so selfless though.. She's in love with him. The others ...not so much. That is why Amy was the way she was... Her eternal love was for Rory and not The Doctor like Rose's is.
Jenna DeWitt Clara
ultimatehaxor123 Speaking of Clara, here's an idea.

“I COULD DO SO MUCH MORE!”
“Wilfred. It’s my honor.”
“How many seconds in eternity?”
“I’m the Doctor! Basically, RUN.”
“I didn’t know I remembered their names...”
9’s corrupted “FANTASTIC” when torturing the Dalek in the episode “Dalek”
“Just this once Rose... EVERYBODY LIVES!”
“Doctor... I let you go..”
“I’ll always remember when the Doctor was me.”
“I don’t want to go...” may seem like a basic death line, but it’s the opposite of Ten’s catchphrase “Allonsy!”
Even from the same episode as Bad Wolf the “Coward, any day” line is great. Because remember “Never be Cruel (killer) or Cowardly (Coward). The Doctor’s choice here is making him choose between two evils. The same two evils he promised never to be.
“Gallifrey falls no more!”

Am I the only one who wished they did just a little bit more with Bad Wolf?
Tadicuslegion78 they did with the end of series 4

These people aren't just "actors" They are more than that. You will fall in love with them, you will feel their sadness when they are saddened, you will feel their happiness when something great happens to them, and you will feel the excitement of their adventures. You may think it's just a "show" but it's not it's SO MUCH MORE!!The Doctor, rose,Martha,Jack,Donna,Jackie,Mickey,Amy,Rory,River,Clara and many others have taught me so much about life, people, love, even myself and in these thoughts there is always something back there,In the back of my head whispering to me every time I hear that wonderful sound of the universe,it's saying "Here comes the Big Bad Wolf
HAPPY BAD WOLF DAY!!
(Slowly claps)
*claps* BAD WOLF!
spiritfinder321 ' m atter
"you can not hurt me, I am Immortal" - emperor
"You are Tiny" - Bad Wolf
this is the moment when i realized the doctor is not always the most dangerous force in the universe.
I.E. BadWolf, DrDonna, TheImpossibleGirl. Three forces of the universe even the doctor must stand aside for.
Best Show Ever!!!!!!
This speech makes me want to watch doctor who from "Rose " again. Also do think this is one of the best season finales we have had in doctor who.
It's not hate, it's just the feeling that line gives you. Extremely cringe and sticks an invisible palm to your face xD
i like when doctor who is cheesy.
"I can see EVERYTHING. All that is. All that was. All that ever could be."
I can still remember the chills and sense of Awe when I first heard that line. At that moment Rose is the Ultimate Power in all Eternity. Absolute understanding of reality.
Even knowing that it would burn me up, I would still gladly look into the Time Vortex for that.
Mutant dalek: "I am an immortal god"
An actual God: "you are tiny"
Me: *sharp inhale* "brutal"
You may not like this scene, but it's still probably the most iconic moment of the revived series.
Honestly, this is why Doctor and Rose were such an iconic pair.
****SPOILER ALERT*****
holy crap. it just hit me like a ton of bricks! the moment that gallifrey burns is supposed to be a timelocked moment. it was unlocked by the bad wolf. hence why the moment takes the form of bad wolf. i feel like a total dunce for not figuring that out before now.
That is also why she said "The Time War Ends"
and why she said 'I create myself'...she saw the war and created 'the moment' so that she could pull the future doctors back to save Gallifrey.. I can't believe they had that planned all along, but it's a very neat solution!
The Doctor; „But this is wrong, you can’t control life and death!“
Rose/Tardis/Bad wolf; „But I can.“
The Doctor: 👁👄👁
Rose: *turns herself into a god to protect the doctor*
Bill: "I'm gay"
Okay, Okay, stick with me here. What if when Rose was giving that speech about death, she was actually seeing The Doctor die for the last time, and that is why she cries in this episode and acts all weird around the doctor when he's first Tennant?! That would be soooooo cool!
She acts all weird around Ten when he regenerates because she saw his face at the end of his life in The End of Time, when Ten spoke to her. This is why she asks if he's Slitheen (because she remembered his face). She met Nine shortly after.
MercuryDomini that's just your theory, but good one
i could watch this over and over
There will never be a better companion for the 9th and 10th Doctor than Rose she loved them and there relationship was by far the most sad especially with David Tennant aka the 10th Doctor and Rose :(
Imo Donna was best for 10 but yeah also for some reason when I was younger I gave Rose a bunch of unneeded hate but she’s awesome
this was so well done and acted, when Doctor Who felt real.
"Every atom of your existence and I divide them"
Gosh! What a good strong line!
This is one of the most powerful scenes in all of Doctor Who. I get chills and I always end up bawling.
With rose and the doctor it was so good I never wanted it to end and when rose was gone it broke my heart.
The power she held. Imagine that... Just for a moment.
None should be able to control life and death it's wrong!
Why is it wrong?
I quite understand what you mean...to hold the power of god in your hand, to simply command it, and so shall it be. With one word, wipe out an entire race.
+Gamer24/7 For the reasons you want to use it for...
"I want you safe. My Doctor, protected from the false god." That line hits HARD every single time.
I had a dream last night I was the bad wolf, it was pretty epic
Did you burn?
I had a dream last night that I was shot by a dalek.
then I woke up as soon as it shot me.
I think it was telling me to wake up.
I had a dream last night in wich I met all the doctors.
It was some sort of convention and there were jelly babies for all.
It was pretty awesome.
Henrique Neves I would like a jelly baby please.
Henrique Neves I Don't Have Many Dreams... :( I Just Go To Sleep, And Then It's Been 8 - 12 Hours... But It Felt Like A Second To Me... :(
Everybody gangsta until Rose's eyes start glowing.
This is my favorite speech. I love Ross. She was the best companion of them all.
(lol rose)
+Amanda Seilhammer (dragonrose21) i think she was the best as well, and the fittest.
So anyone ever notice the whole Rose teleports out the door between arrival and starting her speech could be her going and doing literally all the things she does with Dona, day of the doctor, and the other times she interfered in order for the show to progress as it did?
So Jack and Lynda die but Rose only brings back Jack... rude
Jack can never die
Mikayla Malfoy I know, that's what i'm talking about. Rose revives Jack and accidentally makes him immortal... but Lynda is still dead
She is all the way like "I mean i COULD bring everyone back to live"
Well, Rose didn't love Lynda. She loved Jack.
she's in love with the Docta :3
I like Series 1 because it's much more down-to-earth.
Rushy literally. The whole of series 1 takes place either on earth or in orbit around earth.
When the Doctor's theme kicks in at the end - fucking perfection.
If RTD can bring a fraction of this quality in 2023, I'm gonna fall in love with Who all over again.
"you are tiny. i can see the whole of time and space. every single one of your atoms and i divide them" chills
"You cannot hurt me... I AM IMMORAL!"
*"You are TINY!"*
I love how she says “I bring life” like she’s actually breathing life back into jack! Best scene in dr who ever !
TheDevonnMarieShow tea
THE TRUEST TEA
The kiss at name of the Doctor was alright, this was good too but I think we can all agree Doomsday was the best
rose tyler really said THEN PERISH to the dalek invasion, what an icon
“YOU CANT CONTROL LIFE AND DEATH.”
“but I can 😐💅”
“You can’t control life and death”
Rose: *fucking does it anyway*
People can’t comprehend hell, because hell is the stripping away of every single ounce of goodness because God is not near hell, therefore without God there is such darkness, such pain, such stress, such depression, but with God it is all the good, so much better than our ideas of things like love that are perverted, because it is truly God who is love, light, peace, truth, and joy,
notice how its the bad wolf scene and the up loaders profile picture is a wolf
2:31 "how can i let go of this? i bring life." my favorite doctor who quotes. always doctor has changed, sometimes fall and lost. but it will forever
Emperor: “You cannot hurt me. I am immortal.”
Rose: “ You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space. Every single atom of your existence and I divide them.”
"You are tiny. I can see the whole of time and space. Every single atom of your existence and I divide them. Everything must come to dust. All things. Everything dies. The Time War ends."
I saw this reboot when it aired back in '05, was about 12 years old.
As demonstrated by the CHEESY AS FUCK line "I think you need a Doctor!"
God, I love this show.
"See every atom of your existence and i divide them"
Best Line Ever
the daleks really need a new emperor
Now that I am emperor, they don't.
Dalek You are tiny. I see every single atom of your existence and I divide them!
BadWolf Interesting, but I'm still here.
U JELLY ROSE? :troll:
Mainly the Daleks really need a second eyeball, a functional pair of legs, and a personality makeover - but, of course, then they would no longer be Daleks.
After years and years this is still one of my favorite moment of TV history. RTD was a genius man...
