Welcome back to Jeff's Aussie 'Pro- Street' inspired VH SL/E project build.
You've been asking, and we've heard you... so HERE IT IS! The 1st Gen Commodore is back on the channel and it's time to get things moving forward. This is a bucket list build, and there will be no bolt left untouched. We're going for a full rotisserie bare metal body restoration! But this body is hiding some secrets and surprises that we're yet to encounter...

Oh definitely! There wouldn't be many people who can say they did a build and had change left in the budget... but I can see this one blowing out way past the average yearly wage 😖😖😖
That doesn't mean the build can't happen though, just means it takes a little bit longer 💪🏻 *Determination!*

I have 3 vh sl'e and a vk calias commodores in my shed. 2 v8's auto and 2 inline 6 auto. One of them is a peter Brock HDT mockup and the other v8 is modified, engine, suspension ect... from that time period. Not willing to sell any of it tho, sorry ;)

VhSle.What a winner, one of my favourites, are you keeping the interior original, like dash, etc, and have the original badges and trims on it ? White, with the original colour interior..would be my choice, really looking forward to seeing this happen..big Simo wheels..

Kinda hoping its gonna be painted a deep purple or something not on the lost from holden, but at the same time i also wanna see that 383 under a standard beige bonnet for the sleeper effect
Got little chance of keeping that carb under a standard bonnet with that intake I reckon! Haha. If I can make it happen I will, but not real interested in putting a chromoly K frame in it to make it happen

Good luck with the build. Could always tint the tail light if its got a few imperfections , save ya having to sell ya kidney to get a replacement.
Yeah unfortunately it's not the lens that's the issue, but more the plastic housing. But thanks for the thought 👌🏻

Yeah some people are just testing the market, but people are paying it which is the crazy part! Rare spares apparently have some in production, but we all know the real deal is the way to go.

Absolutely! If this weren't teenage me's dream build I would certainly have a crack at the panel n paint aswell to save even more cheddar. But I want this to turn out better than brand new, so sometimes you just need to nut up and pay the man with the skills what he's worth.

I started building a VH SL factory 4.2 4 speed....found parts and another shell...saved it to build another...this happened a few times now I have 12 early Commodores and building 8 , couple SL/E's ...I'm sick I need help :P

When you removed the chrome from around the the top of the door where the glass closes into.
The horizontal curved part of the door and the vertical part.
How did you do this? I’m needing to do this my self.
Maybe a video, don’t won’t to damage mine when removing them from all four doors.

6:31 in the video mate. You can see we just used a flat blade screwdriver to gently pry it away from the door inch by inch. Was pretty nerve wracking as we were scared to bend it, but slowly does it.
Good work. These projects take time, and $$$.

If I can get my ducks in a row it might be sooner than that, but there's no deadline. Just do it once, do it right!

Just buy a decent original car. Sell that rust bucket, why waste your money.
