Quinni is the first character I've ever seen that actually represents autism well, so naturally I forced all my friends to watch Heartbreak high lol ✨️
The autistic representation from Quinni was also the first I’d seen that I absolutely fell in love with. It was real. Heartbreak High is by no means a genre I enjoy, but I watched all of it for her. While Quinni still represents a very small representation portion of the autistic community, as stated in the comment above, she is something that the media hasn’t really shown. Yes, there needs to be more autistic POC in media, autistic people with various sexualities and gender identities, and autistic people with various body types, that’s unfortunately not common. Chloe is presenting a character that gives an idea of autism that can hopefully lead to more representation in the future 🤍
Awesome. I remember, when I was a kid, I was fascinated by a little brown frog on the kitchen window, and my Dad said to me, "Don't just stand there looking at the frog." I couldn't move away. And I loved the little brown wood frogs that we used to get and I wanted to keep one as a pet, but I wasn't allowed to.
Just finished watching the Angeline episode. I know it must have been quite difficult to act out a meltdown when you aren't actually having one, but it was so well done that I felt all tight in my chest and almost cried. I'm also feeling super bad for Ca$h's character, because I'm demi as well, and have been broken up with because of it. Didn't lose my "Vcard" til I was 24 bc of it, and when I finally did, my mom made a comment about it being about time and thinking maybe I had just been far in the closet afraid to come out. Nope, just hadn't found the right person yet. I do find myself extremely uncomfortable with the massiive amount of sensual content in the show, tho I appreciate the message of the importance of consent. I'm also very much against the fact that the show seems to be normalizing and even pushing teenagers drinking and using recreational drugs. I went to a small high school, 29 kids in my class. And they did party (Tho I was never once invited). And bc of drinking and drugs, 2 students were hospitalized. Neither by their own will, but bc of bullying. I graduated in 2007 back when the awareness and tolerance enjoyed by today's youth didn't exist. The one closeted gay guy was a DD and someone spiked his soda. And the one autistic guy had the same thing happen and it reacted with his meds and he had a seizure. Thankfully everyone survived. But that's why I think it's wrong of them to have that in the show.
I first saw you here on CZcams and had no idea what Heartbreak High was until you posted a video about being Quinni. Of course I immediately had to watch it and finished in 3 days. You are phenomenal and it is so refreshing to see autistic actors play authentic autistic characters!
I have been following her for a while, and just the other day I find out she has a netflix show, I watched the whole ass thing today and oh my god I love Quinni so much. I went in not expecting much, but I have never related to a character more in my life. I love how developed she is as a character, and how her autism affects her problems, but her problems aren't because of her being autistic. Her issues are so relatable to me, including *minor spoiler alert* Her issues with Sasha towards the end of the season, where she's feeling infantalized by Sasha, and like Sasha doesn't really understand how important the book signing is to her, and how shes made to feel guilty for not being able to go to the party with Sasha, even though Sasha had also made her plans to go to the book signing vaguely unravel, even if sasha doesn't see it and isn't doing it intentionally, and how Quinni doesnt really understand that sasha wants her to be with her at the party, and how sasha doesnt understand why quinni cant handle it in her already stressful chaotic day, and how her nonverbal episode wasnt just 5 minutes long, and it visibly affected her for several days, including one of the things i find particularly amazing and phenominal, a visible drop of her masking for several days, where shes not as expressive, wears her headphones, stims more visibly, is nonverbal, and isnt wearing her usual eccentric hair and makeup. It shows a side of her character that I feel like not only I as an autistic person relate to so ridiculously hard, but all of us. It really brings me back to all the times I've felt guilty for being "too much" and not knowing how to make someone else who I feel is "dealing with me" happy in return, as well as being gaslit into thinking I'm fully the problem, and the people around me feeling like im their responsibility and they have to baby me, even if it comes from a place of good intentions like sasha had. Anyway, all I'm saying Is I'm obsessed to an unhealthy degree now, and season 2 cannot come fast enough. This show is the best representation I have ever and probably will ever see and I'm so glad something like this exists on such a readily available platform for not only me to enjoy and relate to, but everyone including nuerotypical people to get an insight on what challenges we may face as well as other people around us without pushing an ableist set of ideals like a lot of other shows do, that you can tell are written by and acted by neurotypical people and have zero neurodivergent insight whatsoever *coughs* sia *coughs*

AND I HAVE A COUPLE REASONS WHY. 1.Mayas music is very calming and I think it’s something Quinni might like 2. Mayas music is amazing and underrated and she deserves a shoutout 3. Maya and Robin Buckley are icons in the lesbian/ queer community 4. Robin is headcanoned by me and a lot of other people as autistic or adhd.

The sensory overload scenes and the nonverbal episode Quinni showed were truly amazing. She made me feel seen as a young autistic lesbian :)
