VERTICAL HAMMER SAW! Bloodsport vs Skorpios | Battlebots | Discovery
• VERTICAL HAMMER SAW! B... - Zábava
I miss the catchphrase from the old days, "The box is locked, the lights are on, it's robot fighting time!!!"
plays in my head every time
Watch old episodes then
Headcannon it forever
Agreed.
I love that this still goes on. I remember when it first came out.
not that it's a huge revenue stream, but there are toys and merchandise based off these bots. and, there are non-televised events they do all the time in vegas, where BB is HQ'ed, that they sell tickets to (these are the B team bots and old favorites not able to compete with the big boys, not helmed by the real crews).
i imagine all the space this show takes up is pretty substantial, but as far as the bots themselves, that cost is on the teams.
couple of things to bear in mind is that there are small competitions all over with all sorts of weight classes. also, there are tv shows in other countries that do the same thing (and when they come here get their asses handed to them, lol).
when i mention to someone that i love this show, they know what i'm talking about, which is surprising to me. maybe it's just where i'm at since i drive for a school system that has a robotics team that goes to competitions.
Good battle, despite some technical failures. But it's been decades, and other than the screws the arena hazards are still not worth the trouble. The hammer occasionally makes a difference, but the hazards are mostly so erratic they're unfair, and so weak they're pointless. It amazes me that they haven't been improved in all this time.
imo the hazards arent really meant to do too much damage on purpose. They're more to disrupt the action and allow robots to show control by manuvering other bots into them. Also, if discovery was doing serious damage to competitiors robots with their hazards, it would be needlessly expensive damage for the already really expensive robots
I've seen the holes for the saws do more damage than the saws themselves
@jacksigmon9426 yeah, they already have Riptide to cause needlessly expensive damage.
Don't kid yourself the screws are also useless
This and junkyard wars
were my go to shows.
Faruq's beard wins every match.
I agree that skorpios won this one. But just barely since bloodsport definitely compromised it’s weapon but other than that skorpios really controlled them
Bloodsport compromised Skorpios' weapon by getting its ass kicked by it.
I disagree. Skorpios didn’t inflict any damage to its opponent while it took significant damage. All it did was push the other bot around while breaking apart.
@@Nathan-vt1jz Which demonstrated control and aggression on their end. Not everything is about damage
To be fair Bloodsport could have fought another battle against another robot. Scorpios not so much.
This will keep the neighbors dog out of our yard AND give the ROOMBA a run for its money.
One of the closest fights I have ever seen. I am not sure who I would have voted for if I had been a judge.
Damage weighs more heavily than aggression. I would have thought bloodsport would have won based on damage alone. Thats how i would have scored it. Destroying the primary weapon is big money. Bloodsport took no damage i saw. But it was a good fight.
Skorpios had full control. Judges made the right call. The push outside the ring was key
The announcer talks like he's reading out a CVS receipt 😅
Close battle great sportsman ship between the teams
was judge Jason sleeping half that battle?
TWO AND A HALF MINUTE RIDICULOUS INTRO?! Nope.
It was all blood sports win they had the most harder hits then skorpo
Starts at 4.30
Skorpios didn’t deserve the win on this one. They didn’t inflict any damage on their opponent while taking a ton of damage.
Such a dominant performance from Skorpios, hence why they are my most respected bot
Thank you man
Absolutely one of the best wedge designs on that beast, reliable and durable. Good drivetrain, good driver, and often that's the entire combo you need.
I do not agree with that decision
I gotta say as much as these are very entertaining, I really think the championship battles should go with no time limit...to the death! Kind of lame it's timed. BS probably would have won it if it was fight to the death
Then it could end up as who has the biggest battery - not very battle orientated.
@@TheHrb1234 and that's a bad thing?
@@44punisherable Yes. If you dont understand why then I cant explain it to you the answers in the title of the program but all for you if you want to watch a three hour bot trundle.
@@TheHrb1234 I really can't imagine it actually going three hours. If one bot it knocked out (not moving) then yes fight is called but if they're both still going then keep going but three hours? I'd like to see that
@@44punisherablewhat would happen a lot of the time is both teams would lose their primary weapon and we’d have two bots moving as little as possible to avoid disqualification while retaining battery power
You Need to put your mask on!!!
The simpler the better for these bots. Hammer bots don't do to well in these days, and combining it with a spinning blade just weakens scorpios. Needs a redesign imo.
Scorpios won this and saw blaze a hammer saw won the whole thing
I love how Scorpios does almost no damage but they are very durable
No damage? They almost one shot endgame when they revealed the weapon almost sliced their drive motors or when they took off tombstones wheel They do damage it's just not explosive damage
I was here first again
Where can I get an album intro from the guy at the beginning
No way..Bloodshot took out Skorp primary weapon...that a W
They're not operating on ABC Season 2 rules, where the loss of the primary weapon was an automatic loss. Control actually matters.
@@2097Pyros in this match, it was the primary factor...the W goes to Bloodsport
@@everydaydadfixinit4803 And yet it wasn't. Skorpios was always aggressive, while Bloodsport was always running. Skorpios was very much in control of the fight by being able to pin Bloodsport repeatedly. I would agree that Bloodsport wins the damage category, but damage isn't the only factor in a fight.
The way I'd score this one:
Damage: 4-1 Bloodsport
Control: 2-1 Skorpios. Here, being able to fend off Skorpios gets Bloodsport one point, but nothing more, since Skorpios dictated the pace of the fight the whole time.
Aggression: 3-0 Skorpios. Bloodsport was running the entire fight, and Skorpios was always attempting to engage Bloodsport
Total: 6-5 Skorpios
Again, the idea that Skorpios should lose solely because it lost its primary weapon is a mindset that is operating on an old, obsolete, and sport-damaging ruleset, one that the sport is still feeling the after-effect of to this day, even as they clean up the mess it caused.
@2097Pyros imho...heavier damage over the better push bot is more determinant. But I can respect your opinion and see your point
@@everydaydadfixinit4803 It was why I gave the Damage category to Bloodsport 4-1. Skorpios DID cause damage, even if it wasn't nearly as much as Bloodsport. The other thing that I do think should be taken into account is that while Bloodsport did warp Skorpios' weapon, the hammer-saw was already non-functional by that time, meaning that Bloodsport isn't actually responsible for Skorpios' weapon being disabled. So technically, neither one did any functional damage to the other (and by functional, it means damage done to vital systems, like weapons or drive). Again, the lion's share of the points do go to Bloodsport, just on the amount of visual damage done. However, if Skorpios' weapon had still been fully operational when Bloodsport warped it, then I would have given it a 5-0 Damage spread, since now Bloodsport would have inflicted functional damage to Skorpios, while Skorpios inflicted no functional damage. That would have given Bloodsport the win.
You'd be surprised what little things like weighing cosmetic damage against each other (when neither bot inflicts functional damage), and who is actually responsible for what can decide a fight.
how can you watch this and think bloodsport won? it's absurd. i get that bloodsport did some damage, but it clearly, laughably, lost in the other two categories.
"Did some damage"? Bloodsport all but knocked the primary weapon off Skorpios. Bloodsport was in exactly the same shape it started the fight in. Skorpios needed a complete rebuild.
@@bryansummers3219 i don't see it barely hanging on. it was damaged, yes, but hardly dragging behind like a dead appendage.
that's why there are three categories, though, so that just one thing doesn't dictate who the winner is, and that's how it should be. control and aggression was clearly in scorpios' favor. so often these bots do more damage to themselves than their opponent doles out, or failure of components just happens.
Thank you It's nice to see someone who actually understands the judging
Scorpios wasn’t aggressive, it was defensive. There’s a BIG difference there. And they certainly didn’t win the damage category either. This fight was bloodsport all the way.
It was taking an aggressive posture the entire fight by continuing to engage with Bloodsport, while Bloodsport was running the whole fight, even after Skorpios lost the weapon.
@2097Pyros bloodsport needed to so it can speed the weapon up. i agree skorpios was defensive and preventing that weapon from firing up but bloodsport did a hell of a lot more damage running or not.
@@2097Pyrosthey lost their weapon, and their only way to prevent further damage was to interrupt their opponents weapon. Bloodsport had this one, they just couldn't maintain distance to do more damage. I think the machine that maintained all of its functions should have been the victor.
Noted: no matter your damage taken, pin the other bot enough, and you win. Gotcha.
Points are awarded on control and aggression, as well as damage, so you could make a case that Skorpios had the edge on control and aggression (if not damage). That being said, "you never want to leave it in the hands of the judges", as Kenny said. Glad they added an appeal option in the current season because the judges don't always get it right the first time.
@Ay Nako! Yeah, I just wish they'd change the way points are assigned.
Doesn't the guy with the beard get tired of speaking in that voice the whole time?
Ah the battles, the nerds, the cringe trying to be cool team moves….always awesome to watch these lol crazy how many years it’s been now
Bloodsport got robbed
When was this filmed? I see masks on everyone.
Aug 2021, still covid protocols followed
They must be blind that's bad judging yea you won but your teeth got knocked out amd you have brain damage ha.i would say who ever took the most damage bloodsport won .
So, let's just ignore aggression and control as criteria?
This decision is wrong, they spent most of the battle without a primary weapon and didn't do any damage.
Scorpios clearly lost this fight… but I suppose bloodsport really didn’t generate a whole lot of offense so…?
I mean Skorpios did control the fight
I would say Scorpios won on control and aggression but lost the damage category
I agree after about halfway all scropios could do was use its body to pin or push bloodsport around it was no longer actively attacking or capable of such, just stopping bloodsport from annihilating it tbh
Don't think we watched the same fight here... Skorpios did what it does best, controlled the entire fight the entire time, which = a win.
4-1 damage to bloodsport
2-1 aggression to Skorpios
3-0 control to Skorpios
Total of 6-5 Skorpios, what's the problem?
people are afraid of robots they wear mask. WEIRD.
Masks aren’t weird. Explain if you disagree
@@dippyfresh1116 show your face weirdo, you gonna mug me?
