VFR (barely) Family Flight Home

- Family fun at Wisconsin Dells is over and time to head back home. We had to wait a bit before departing as the weather was low IFR with fog. As soon as the fog broke there was convective weather approaching rapidly from the west. We departed VFR quickly expecting to probably need a pop-up IFR clearance at some point. Turns out it wasn't needed and we had a nice flight home between cloud layers with just enough visibility to stay VFR.
I get asked regularly, I choose to fly VFR around busy airspace as much as I can safely because it's simply more expeditious. When needed we grab the IFR.

Honestly, I'd never heard of the Dells until I got stuck holding over it during Oshkosh. Glad to know what it is...I might stop in if I get stuck in another 2 hour hold for Oshkosh. Thanks for sharing.

I wish you both the best in future endeavors, I am by no means anywhere close to being a pilot. That being said, I am a combat vet and I appreciate the pilots that flew me out of Kosovo and iraq. I wish you and the family all the best and hopefully some new videos soon!!!!

The 1BC exploded. Some guy who bought the aircraft took it to the skies, and flew it to 22,000 ft, and the cabin pressure broke the roof window.
Just kidding, the Cessna 310 does not have cabin pressurization. :)

About 16-18 years ago, when our kids were little, we spent a weekend at the Mt. Olympus Indoor Waterpark in the middle of the winter. It was an awesome experience! Sounds like it's not quite what it used to be.

Based on some posts in a pilot board, I think they both sold or are under a contract to be sold.
I think they sold. the listing video that they put up is now gone. Hope this means they are getting a new plane. I cannot imagine them not having one.

The last time I was at the Dell's was in 1967 and I was 5, our family met my cousins from California
No Coffee in the room!! Ya, thats a big problem. I have been known to bring my grinder , beans and coffee maker. Pain , but coffee is mandatory.
Try The Wilderness Resort next time. Been taking the family there for 10 years and is always a great time. I get what you mean when describing the other place.

Wow you are way behind in updates. Nice to see you all again. Still waiting to see/hear what's happening with the sale of 1BC and what your new plane is, just guessing, because I can't see you stop flying completely... Possibly move to new town and airport Controller? May a job offer you got when doing the west coast trip....
The lockdown is over, the new house is bought, closer to work, the hangar is still for sale, the ad for the sale of the Cessna was last online in December, the plane is still registered to Kevin Th. and you can google his phone number if you want more. Just download your favorite episodes, just in case, so many channels are gone right now, more to come. I really like this channel too, bought the 310 for the sim, airfield and paint job for free - not for my real world flying - just for fun, and took a flight to Rough River State Park, just like in the real world, when I came in from Oskosh after some very hot days with the shows. Glad you are enjoying this lifestyle too! Many greetings from Germany!

Hello Kevin and Jaime. Great video. I see 1BC isn't on Controller anymore. Does that mean that she's been sold? I see you're still the owner of it on the FAA Registry Database, but that doesn't get updated very often, it seems. Keeping us all in suspense. Are we going to have to wait until you run out of videos to find out what happened/is happening/is going to happen? :) Regardless, thank you for the content, thank you for everything you've done so far.

My daughter moved out to DC(and is married) and I hate driving out there from Chicago. I'd love to be able to hop into a plane and head out east to go visit them. It's a great way to travel, but very pricey for my occupation to support.
Ever take Amtrak's Capitol Limited to DC? Wife and I did several years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Certainly not the cheapest or fastest way to get there, but if you're in no hurry and enjoy scenic views, then I highly recommend it.
