    Snake oil, the stock intakes are already designed to be operational at max efficiency. Also unless you tune the ECU you are not adding any air into the fuel mix. Tale as old as time, but sure, it looks cool.

      This. Just risking a warranty fight.

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP Před rokem +2

      I think that might be too general of a statement, even if largely that might be the case for newer turbocharged engines. Either way, I've heard of people just enjoying more induction sound, so even if there is no discernable performance advantage it still might be something that people want (similar to many exhaust system installations).

    • @sawyermartin4434
      @sawyermartin4434 Před rokem +5

      @ianpaddick2003 No, it's not. That is not how warranty claims work. A manufacturer would have to prove without a doubt that the aftermarket part installed directly caused a failure in order to substantiate a voided warranty, AKA, totally irrelevant if you're replacing your intake.

    • @berkit1959
      @berkit1959 Před rokem +2

      Watched another video about these. Have to completely replace everything back to the cylinders to actually get a higher volume of air. There's always a choke point.

    Wet filters can cause problems shooting the oil into everything else. Also can mess with sensors and have to clean those before cleaning turbo's. I was k&n till i had to clean sensor once a year and then had problems down the road with build up.

    You could probably get away leaving that plug out. The trim pieces near the headlights allows for airflow towards where that hole is. So you probably would only suck in hot air while in traffic. (This is all a wild a$$ guess by the way). I left my grommets out when i did my S&P intake install.

    Oiled air filters with turbos is usually a no go. There is so much pull from the turbos the oil comes out of the air filter and sticks to the turbo blades causing a future failure. Maybe new turbos don't have that issue I know the old ones did??????

      I havent heard of that issue before. Obviously an over oiled filter can allow something like to occur, but if it's properly applied (like is from the manufacturer) it should be fine. I think Banks Power has a good video on how to oil filters when it comes time to clean them.

    • @ryanbrown918
      @ryanbrown918 Před 9 měsíci

      There will always be oil within the Compressor side of the chargers. Thank PCV System. This doesn't hurt the turbos in the least. Intake valve build up is of more concern, but oiled filters are a non issue. Just did 2 short blocks on these things. Both had oil within the entirety of the intake tract, including CAC. You people think in to this stuff too much.

    Ignore the boomers crying snake oil. CAI at a MINIMUM without a tune, will get you better sound and a faster spool on a turbo vehicle. With a tune you can expect even more. I’ve had cars with OEM boost gauges show about 1psi gain too without a tune.

    Called a "Butt dyno" when you add parts like this, and actually does nothing for performance but you "feel" it's faster. If you did not modify boost/turbo/downpipe/exaust AND fuel map that air filter mod will not do anything as your stock computer will control air flows and temps. You can see by monitoring your IAT and your Air/Fuel. No changes from stock. Companies that sell these products ALWAYS post ridiculous claims of HP/TQ gains when test after test on consumer dynos show no changes. In fact, many times you lose power with a CAi on an otherwise stock vehicle.
