It's finally time to review the games in the Dark Souls series. But rather than do a weighted review, instead I'm going to give you 10 Things I Love and 10 Things I Hate about Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, Dark Souls III, and Bloodborne. In the future, I'll use this series to talk about a number of different topics in gaming outside the Soul series, so I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for the video! I wanted to give you a suggestion with your next videos in this series as a word of caution. I'm just afraid that since these games are similar, your lists in this series might be the same way. I don't want to be one of the people you mentioned in your previous video so please don't take it that way. We are all great full for the content you put out for us to enjoy and I just saw this as something that could be easy to do and may take some of the enjoyment out of something we all love. Again don't take this as an attack; take it as a tip. Thanks again for all you do!

theDeModcracy i think the top ten things you love and hate videos are great because they won't result in reviews that are too negative and fail to see the good in games- and it also prevents review videos that are too positive, but fail to that these games actually have faults.
theDeModcracy as I said in my comment on your response video, I like your videos that I have seen and like how you genuinely like the games you review and talk about. I can't wait for the other videos in this Series.
Demon's Souls has an atmosphere that I feel like they've never fully been able to replicate in later entries, definitely one of the best parts of it tho
Yeah, Ds1 has something almost similar but it is still really different. In my opinion DeS & Ds1 has the best atmosphere, arguably Ds3 & BB look better but they also have a very different atmosphere in some way.
DeS, DkS1 and BB. These are the 3 games that I love the stories of.
It's such a damn shame that DkS 3 never got quite there, it had the ideas, but something went wrong with how they were delivered and the only good part of it all was Slave Knight Gael, fighting at the very last threads of the world for the Dark Soul.

Latria's oppressive prison with prisoners shrieking in pain with the sound of a giant heartbeat piercing your ears in the distance, or Oolacile with the cackling townspeople with the sound of a child screaming in the distance over the sound of wind and roaring thunder. God, DeS and DS1 had such amazing atmospheres.

My favorite things, unmentioned:
1) Huge skyboxes/scenery
2) Absolutely desolate
3) Weapon variety
Yeah,for a game made in 2009 the graphics and scenery still hold up 10 years later. It's incredible.
I love the reverb soaked voice acting in the souls series. It gives the world an even colder and bleaker feeling. Even when in the comfort of another sane person, their voice is distant and cold, like they're not really there with you, but rather an apparition of a person who's been withered by the world. If their voices didn't echo like that their presence would be much warmer and closer, which for some characters like the doll in Bloodborne can actually be used to great effect to create a sense of comfort. Even the people who emit a sense of hope in the world, their voices are still stained by the world, crackled and diffused from their voices reflecting off the dense, stone walls.

i agree my top 5 fav are probably Twin princes from DS3, Gehrman the first hunter from Bloodborne, Abyss watchers from DS3, Great Grey Wolf Sif from DS1 and Father Gascoigne from Bloodborne
One of the things I dislike the most about demon souls is the frustatingly slow ladder climbing

I should correct and say final Souls series. I may do one off Souls videos every now and again after these 10, but it's the last big group of videos for the franchise!

Hey DMod, long time lurker, first time commenter here. Just wanted to say two things. First, and most importantly, I love the channel. Starting with the massive undertaking that I'm sure the boss ranking series was, I've gone through almost all of your content on the Darkbloodsoulsborne series, and it's downright inspirational. In fact, watching your videos was the tipping point that convinced me to try my first Fromsoft game (Bloodborne), and I've been *loving* it so far. I'm a huge fan of the way you get your points and opinions across; it's the perfect mix of (clearly very deep) knowledge and factual information, your own point of view, with a bit of humor here and there, all wrapped up in a very concise and legible package. I wish all CZcamsrs had your talent for conveying information as quickly and cleanly as you do. So, from a true fan who deeply appreciates your work: thank you. You're awesome, keep it coming.
Secondly, and far less importantly, I just wanted to bring up a minor language issue: the word "subsequent/subsequently". The first "e" in the word is pronounced with a bit less emphasis than I hear you put on it; less of a "see" sound, like "sequence" or "sequin", and more of a "seh" sound, like "second" or "segment". But that's literally the only thing I'd change about your content. Other than that, flawless!
Top notch video. The type of quality that you only find on Demod's channel. Good constructive points, good humor, and of course good editing.
I'll always support you dmod. You're genuine and make very enjoyable content, at least to me. I've been watching your vids for about a year now, and it's been genuinly a great time. You're also the chillest streamer ever. It didn't take long for me to feel like a part of your twitch community, thanks to you and the great people you seem to attract. I'm looking forward to see what the future of this channel brings. I love the the concept of this new series. I really like your points about Demon's Souls, as it was my first Souls game, and I agree with many of the things you said! I can't wait to see more of these videos in the future! :)
during my first playthrough i was running away from my first blue eyes knight and i tried quitting the game, but he stabbed me at just the second i clicked quit.
the next day i loaded up the game the blue knight was standing over my corpse and the words "YOU DIED" came on screen.

Happy to say I'm a soul's fan from the very start. Demon's Souls blew me away and it's been great to see the series grow and expand in the dark souls and bloodborne games.

Well I might as well put my experience with you as well since these are gonna be the last of the dark souls videos for a while or even forever. The first video I ever saw of yours was that giant ass list of bosses, it was so deep and impressive that I stuck around I realized later on with the areas videos that you didn't really want them, small differences in the videos really showed. While this is in perfect timing with dark souls ending I wanted to say two things.
Number one I have had a blast listening to all of the rankings and even though I'm sad you and SO MANY others didn't enjoy DS2 I see why, personally it will always have a sweet place in my heart as it was my first dark souls game. I get that compared to the others it wasn't as great but beating up the three sentinels was the hardest boss fight I've ever had in a video game, it felt amazing when I finally beat them. I would say that you could've went though the bosses under a different light and had different experiences but everyone has their favorite builds. I guess me running around with a greatshield and the zeiwehander might be have worked out better.
Anyway the second point I wanted to make was to ask if you wanted to do other boss rankings on other games, perhaps on the Zelda series though your perspective.
I wish for the best and I hope you finally get to enjoy your channel now.

This is a good video. And I saw the pervious video, and I respect your opinion. Though I feel like you should finish off the areas for the sake of closure amongst fans. I'm not saying they have to be your number 1 priority, but it would feel more complete when you are finally done. Also, I don't think these should be the last series. I think you should make a video on your ranking of all the games, your least favorite to your most favorite, but you would not need to go in much detail since basically all of your complaints and praise will be in these videos. I'm not saying you have to and I'm not trying to pressure you to do it. I just feel like when the series ends, it would feel more satisfying.
I love this idea for a new series, leaving my only problem with it being that I wish I had the opportunity to play Demon Souls

Ahhh demon's souls, how I've miss you so much. This game make me fall in love with the series. The atmosphere, the first time I got invaded by real player and the big bosses. Its just magnificent to think back.

I love the idea of this series and cant to see your thoughts, whether good or bad, about all of the games. The only thing I think would make it better is to start out with the 10 things you dislike so you can send off each game on a high note
I'm not sure whether I love or hate the fact that Demon's Souls can be so easily broken. You can make the game pathetically easy by either starting as a Royal, or going through the longer (but much more fun) process of getting the crescent falchion in 4-1, moving 1-1 to pure white world tendency to get the purple flame shield, blazing through 2-1, skipping all of 2-2 with the shortcuts, killing Flamelurker with the stupidly strong falchion and purple flame shield (weak to magic), and picking up the Dragon Bone Smasher and killing Dragon God, all before even fighting Tower Knight. The amount of souls you get from that process combined with having a weapon with high base damage makes a good chunk of the game way easier if you've had enough experience with souls games to know basic stuff like dodge timings.
Plus the fan-made wiki had plenty of ways to cheese your way through bosses, and world-tendencies. I remember the first 3 times I beat Flamelurker, I just bought 150 arrows and fired at it from behind a skeleton barrier where it couldn't reach me but the arrows hit it, and don't get me started on Maiden Astraea.
Or just use the stockpile Thomas glitch to multiply the boss souls to eat them. 999 boss souls. Nom nom nom.
@D2daK87 Pretty much what I do every playthrough nowadays. Here's my guide to to break DeS:
step 1 (optional): breeze through tutorial and no-hit vanguard
step 2: breeze through 1-1 (optional bonus objective: collect cling ring/dragon hoard)
step 3: sequence break 4-1 (roll from ramparts to regen ring)(optional bonus objective: get crescent falchion)
step 4: kill adjudicator
step 5: dope adjudicators soul
done. make your build stat requirements and destroy the rest of the game

0 frames backstabs, Bed of Chaos and the two bosses that precede it, Capra Demon, the first encounter with Seath, Tomb of the Giants and its dogs, the Darkmoon Blades system that makes them invade only players with a much lower SL, the steps you have to take to access the DLC, black magic, Pinwheel being such a pushover (did they expect new players to make their way through the catacombs despite the really though skeletons at the graveyards and the necromancers?), resistance
You know, considering your love for bosses, you could try the game Furi, DeMod. Pretty sure you are gonna love it.
One other thing I love about Demon' souls, was the music. It sounds like a cheap tokusatsu show, which just adds to the whole feel.
Cheap? Really? Compared to nearly any other ost of its time it sounds a lot more real and subdued. I mean compare it to the VERY obvious midi of 3d zelda games or Tales of series, etc. Is it because of the small ensemble of instruments?
I was refering to a few pieces but more specifically the intro music with the horns and all. If that doesn't scream 1970s kamen rider/ ultraman I don't know what does. Haha.
Love: how different items cost differently depending on where you buy it. IE: Spices in 3-1 Hate: Nexus feels empty/useless especially if you have done multiple playthroughs.

I'm not sure if your voice just changed with time but compare this to any of the videos in the SoulsBorne boss quality ranking playlist and you will definitely hear a difference in voice/tone. Is this just a voice change due to aging, something happened in your life to slightly change your demeanor overall, or just a lack of enthusiasm? If any of these what did you do while making the SoulsBorne boss rankings to keep your enthusiasm up? I still love your content as much as ever but I did notice a change over time.

Makes me sad I don't have a system to play Demon Souls. It looks like a great game and the beginnings to one of my new favorite series.
I think that series idea is awesome.
While all of those are good, I would also make a nod to Maiden Astraea and Garl Vinland. Sure, people can just blaze through it without having much of an impact, but the build-up to me is what makes it so memorable. Up to that point you have faced some of the most brutal environmental designs and -- lets face it -- quite a few folks left this one for last because they didn't want to deal with that crap. But then suddenly you have a boss that just wants you to leave it alone. Garl Vinland will only chase you up to a specific point "holding the line" to protect the woman he has sworn to protect. Maiden Astraea also doesn't really do anything except when you get up right up in her face wtih Garl still alive and she'll punish you with Wrath of God. And when you kill Garl and talk to her -- she KILLS herself. This left such an impression on me that if you are even a little bit invested in the world and the characters within it you have to take a moment to assure yourself that what you just did had to be done in the scope of the narrative.
The fall damage is quirky in this game. You can fall a long ways and take little damage but it does reach a threshold where it will straight out kill you
For me easily the best thing about this game was giving a storyline to dying, and it being a big part of what made the multiplayer elements so enjoyable. Speaking of which the way co-op was handled I thought was incredible. I also miss helping people beat a whole area, with only one firelink shrine per area that was a very big part of the first game, now there are so many firelinks per area that yeah someone might pick up your sign at the start, but you are more likely to wait and wait and wait... which is no fun.
These souls videos get tons of views, maybe you shouldn't end them. It brightens my day to listen you to rant about horrible areas or bosses. Many people would hate for that to end
World Design
- How to worlds are designed and how they feel. Fantasy style is very good and varied.
Nexus
- Design and growing. Nexus looks very good and NPCs populate.
Penetrator
- Best boss character in the game, this is just the type I really like.
Stockpile Thomas
- One of the characters that is not annoying or douchebag. And he carries your stuff.
Boss variation
- There is so much variation with bosses. Most of them have something own.
Boss variation is definitely one I think I could've included. There is a great variety in this game and they tried some really off-the-wall bosses.
Demon's Souls was my first Souls game and it was brutal. Played it launch, didn't know what the hell I was doing.
The only thing i kind of hate of demon's souls is not be abble to consume souls in batchs but only one by one, even equiped in the item slot...
my favorite is the last boss fight, that is the only boss i can beat

Want to know you in response to your last video, and the fact that you sometimes read every comment, I hope this gets read. Want to let you know as a longtime fan that I appreciate the passion and gusto with which you make your videos, and how much you love the community, and making good content, rather than throwing out garbage every day. Keep doing what you doing, don't be afraid to share your opinion nor to ignore faulty, illogical ones thrown at you.

Perhaps a few one off videos here and there, and if there's ever new content released by FromSoft I'll be all over it. But giving my balanced opinions on each games strengths and weaknesses is the last thing I really want to do. There's so many other games and topics out there to talk about. I don't want to limit myself or our community to a single gaming franchise.
Demons souls was my first game and by far the best pvp weapon was dragon bone with cursed.
I love the idea of character/world tendency, but it was so complicated to keep track of, it didn't work that well.
