For some reason this was one of my favorite Chicago Bears teams with Steve Walsh as QB. I totally forgot that Butthead still played with the Bears. Kevin Butler was always one of my favorite kickers of all time
Jim Kelly’s play at the end shows that athletes are a different breed. Halfback next to Kelly in the formation. Bad snap near both of them. Kelly taps the ball back to the HB, who runs for a short gain. It took a split half second to think that up. No question these are elite of the elite

52:22 … this may be the play that ended Merril Hoge’s career. Doesn’t look like a thunderous hit, but he might have taken a knee to the face while executing block. Hoge had a concussion in the preseason that didn’t heal before this game. He’s in the game one more play before Bears take him out. Once he got to the locker room he had a cardiac arrest and nearly died.
How Drew Pearson got away with the most obvious push off (offensive pass interference) of all time I will never know. The "hail mary" was the result of horrid officiating.

I wish that I could go back to these times

Wannsted’s Bears very pretty forgettable!
That one playoff win in 6 years was pretty good though.
