Buu Saga technically takes place over the course of 72 hours because Goku is alive for 24 hours and then returns to otherworld and Gohan takes 25 hours total for his ritual 5 hours of dancing and 20 hours of patience
In the Z dub during the Goku vs Vegeta pose homage. Gohan said he'll show Buu why little brother looks up to him & Buu just responded with, "He doesn't."
Buu Attacked him psychologically more in the English Z dub than he did in Kai, here.

actually he did the same in the kai dub.15:05 he attacks Gohan psychologically by taunting him about piccolo after he absorbed him saying "he meant a lot to you didn't he".
Its pretty messed up considering Gohan thinks of piccolo as a father.
The cell saga was more scifi/technological, but then they forgot this show was about magic and fantasy and took it to 110 with buu
Yeah, it was a deliberate attempt at recreating what Dragonball (Kid Goku’s adventures) was about.
Dragon Ball Super kinda tried that as well, if I’m not mistaken, but ended up with the safe formula of throwing one tournament after the other. I think it was more in terms of design than story, though.
Pretty sure GT tried the same, by turning Goku into a kid again (restraining his powers) and including Pan (another kid) as a main character, until they just decided to say ‘fuck it’ and go for Goku vs big baddie (Baby -> 17 -> Omega Shenron), compared to the episodic & fragmented adventures of the first arc.

I've always thought that Gohan's loss was more about Goten and Trunks messing up, rather than Gohan. He was dominating it until they let Buu get to them, and make them fuse again.
@Malchiel Cannon But they also just spent the last five minutes watching Gohan beat the living crap out of Buu. So there was absolutely no reason for them to do that. They paused their fusion right at the start of the fight for the same reason.

It was gotenks s fault for getting absorbed

Goku intervened making Gohan drop his guard.
Gohan would have survived alone with the help of tien and dende.

The Buu arc is drawn out way too long and is inconsistent, but some of dragonball 's best moments are from this saga! Goku vs Vegeta both SSJ2, Goku turning Super Saiyan 3, Gotenks vs Buu, Vegito vs Buuhan, all spectacular!

Its the cheap knock off Kai version of DBZ, thats why. Its also the reason why the fight seems a bit sped up.

I remember as a child watching this on the WB, the show would always stop right before Goku's battle against the Ginyu Force, and then the following Saturday, it starts all the way back to the first episode with Raditz landing on Earth. Absolute madness!😡

No, it's the same voice actor. He just went in different direction with the voice.
That's the main reason why I prefer z over Kai for this Saga, I didn't like the change in Buu's voice and dialogue.
@@EternalStorm796 Oh wow didn’t know they went in a different direction for their VAs I knew the dialogue was different because Gohan saying “I thought u was gonna kick my ass” to Buu sounded so weird and lame compared to what he says in the original.
@@Sachi10007 some got new VAs and some kept the same VA but they voiced the character differently. Kid Buu's the same actually..Same VA but different direction and not just the fact that he doesn't have any coherent dialogue in Kai..
I remember Linda Young voicing Frieza in Z got mixed opinions.

yeah.....for me kai isn't it. Buu's voice was far superior in the original dub and bruce falconor score is better for me. Even the lines i think were better like this one he says "nobody talks to me this way.....ughhh I am no foooolll" and the original fits his character much better, "FOOL! I'LL KILL YOU ALL". Especially following what he says after being that he CAN'T allow a power stronger than his exist which validates or makes sense as to why in order to show that you are the best and someone is stronger than you....you must kill them for that statement to be true.
it would be really interesting to listen/watch side by side and feel the difference!!
As for buu's actor, i can agree. But the faulconer score it was terrible compared to Kai. Kai really brought music that made dragon ball, dragon ball.

@@lordkai59 I grew up experiencing and watching both kai and dbz actually at about the same time and i guess from my experience i prefer the faulconer score. Don't get me wrong though i thought the original was great it's just that faulconor made each individual scene seem a bit iconic to me. Like goku's super saiyan theme, gohan ssj2 theme, The dragon theme (aka gohan vs cell kameha theme), The entire cell/android arc especially vegeta ssj theme and perfect cell them, and super buu's sinister theme seemed to fit his character better although as I said the original still does it justice as it was the first.
Uk I clearly don't understand how Piccolo didn't hear tha gushy slithering noise behind him with dem big ears he's got. Come on nah
I just realized this was the Kai dialogue. Honestly, I LOVE the Falconer music, but the original dub dialogue doesn't even compare to Kai's. Both in improved voice acting and audio quality.
Buu attacking Gohan psychologically in the Z dub is so much better than what he says in the Kai dialogue and for this saga the Z dub is way better than Kai’s version
@@Sachi10007 The original Dub is more loose with it's dialogue. The Kai dub is more faithful to the source material.
The blue saga was a little poorly written I think if he took his time and wrote it out a little bit better it could have been a lot lot better but this is what we got but yeah the boo saga is not the best
