Recently ESPN's Seth Wickersham dropped an article giving new insights into Andrew Luck's retirement and his life after football. I read through the article and had some thoughts...those thoughts turned into this video.

Andrew Luck is painfully underappreciated as far as skill goes. He didn't deserve the boos during his ceremony. It just is what it is.
During his ceremony? What ceremony?
@@Austin.Kilgore he had a surprise retirement ceremony and the fans booed him.
@@bb-double-yuh No it got leaked he was retired during a home preseason game and everyone found out and started booing
This is why American fans are disgraceful. You wont see that in European sport.
@@Austin.Kilgore As much as I dislike the Colts being a Central Indiana Browns fan, it was the drunk/classless/loud minority that booed him. Colts fans as a whole are some pretty good people. NOT being a dick or trying to correct you btw. Just didn't want people thinking the worst of a fanbase.
Luck is a example of what happens when you’re a elite player surrounded by inept coaching and organization disarray
And carr now is an example also
He was an elite talent, never an elite player, quite the contrary player wise - a certified quitter and non competitor.
@@pepamethodman Andrew luck is a elite player and how is he a quitter would you still be playing football if you were peeing blood ??
@@deeshotcha2250 Name one hall of fame QB without chronic health issues because of football.
@@pepamethodman the shittiest take. I'm a Lions fan and calvin and Barry both retired and I would never think negative of them. They owe you nothing. They are people. Grow up.
As a Dolphin fan I think Tua should follow Andrew Lucks path and retire early. He has 3 concussions that we know of in 1 season. Scary to think what his future will look like.
Yes he will be mumbling words if he doesn't lay down the ball ..hate
To see that...but luckily he has millions so with good investment advice he may be set for life
It is scary to be the guy who has the ball or defense in the NFL unless you're a kicker, punter.
Especially when the inept Dolphins keep playomg him with concussions. He should sue them for 100s of millions.
@@DCSk8er529 junior seau???
@@ReallyoutHereGrindin Yes I included defense. Keeping it short, sweet, and to the point.
The Colts front office was actively trying to kill him. He was a generational talent whose career can be summed up as six years of being asked to turn chicken poop into chicken cordon bleu with one arm tied behind his back. And a lot of the time, he did it. Imagine what he would have been able to do on a good team. It's enough to be asked to follow one of the greatest quarterbacks ever, but Irsay also told him "By the way, we're never going to give you anyone to throw to for your whole career, ever. Now go out there and win" and he went above and beyond. It's no wonder he lost his love of the game, the Colts sucked it out of him.
As a former fighter, there is *NOTHING MORE SCARIER THAN PEEING OUT BLOOD.* I had a full-blown panic when it happened to me. Andrew's balls are legendary to me. I was scared AF and crying. This dude kept going. RESPECT. FOREVER.
Wait wat u mean Andrew's balls are legendary to u???
couldn't imagine.. sounds horrible.
How did you recover

I've thought about getting into mma (I'm 18) but then I think about stuff like this 😂
Luck won in the end. He gets to live life with his wife and kids free of football stress. Meanwhile the Colt's are validating how sure fire of a pick he was by struggling to move on from him. Colts have no one to blame but themselves.
I agree. I believe the same is the case for my Panthers and how we’ve struggled as a franchise since the end of the Cam Newton Era. People don’t appreciate what they had until it’s gone 😢
He did very well for himself cuz he was still collecting Millions in 2021
He came to visit my daughter's kindergarten class years ago. She booed him (We're Browns fans). While her teacher wasn't happy, Andrew thought it was hilarious and knew it was coming. Said all these kids in blue were smiling for the half hour he was talking and answering questions, but one little girl in orange was giving him the stink-eye the whole time. 🤬🤣Just a really cool guy all around.
EDIT: I just learned in the replies Andrew's dad was a Cleveland HS football player. Daughter's 13 now and I'm just now getting why it made him laugh so hard. *Tyvm for the info, kind stranger.*
Typical crappy browns fans

His dad attended st ignatius.
Best way to start a new year. With a great story. Andrew Luck seems like a really good dude.
From a Browns fan: he is. My daughter's kindergarten teacher wanted to get her in trouble for booing/barking at him after talking to her class. He thought it was absolutely hilarious and high-fived her for her dedication.
I still feel bad for Andrew Luck. He’s supposed to be one of the best QBs in the league. Competing for Super Bowls against the likes of Pat Mahomes and what not. Glad to hear he’s doing good.
Facts!! He was so good as a QB, he was in the Tom Brady,Arron rodgers and drew brees conversations. I think people expected him to carry the team. To produce while not having the best talent around him. He played so hard because he had to. Or else he couldn’t compete with other teams.
As a civil engineer, your metaphors were excellent and really hit deep man. Your story telling abilities are unmatched man.
@Rell 💀💀
What does you being a civil engineer have to do with anything?
@@coopzcustomz693 us engineers love to plan ahead for every single move, we don't like it when coincidences and unexpected events take over

he hit some engineering references and i found it cool it's not that deep, JOHNNY.
Dude, you are one of most underrated CZcamsrs out there. Everytime I think you've peaked, you get better and better.
I needed to hear this story going into 2023 and I think this will be the year you blow up.
Can't wait to see more.
I think seeing how many of Andrew’s peers supported his decision shows how difficult that entire process was - I selfishly miss watching him play but very happy he’s enjoying the next phase of his life with family and new ambitions
Here's just another aspect of f'ed up American culture - "me, my team & WE WON!" Most NFL fans only see players on their team helps their views of being a "winner", and couldn't care less about players as human being. Colt fans booing him was the worst. "Are you NOT entertained . . . . ?"
Same man. I'm a Colts fan and I don't think I've missed a player more than I miss Andrew
Happy New Year! Thank yall for a 🔥 2022! See yall soon in 2023.
Damn, FlemLo & KTO surprising us on the last day of the year with some good stuff
Let’s get it 😎
Kto look like a mean ass pittbull to me
Being a dad is the greatest accomplishment of any man. Having a kid dominate a sport they are passionate about is one of the greatest joys as a sports fan.
Hey Flemlo. Just want to thank you for sticking with your video formula. There are others who cover football but most of them provide too much filler. Or they have an annoying gimmick. My wife and I have seen all your nfl videos and we really appreciate how organized and complete they are. You also do an amazing job of being unbiased and compassionate to the subjects, while still holding people accountable. Sometimes your voice is so soothing it puts us to sleep but that's more to do with having kids and being tired. We always go back and watch your video the next day. You keep doing your thing. Kyle
You found a niche for yourself man. I used to watch all your NCAA 14 content, and I looked you up recently and watched the Michael Oher vid. You're killing it man, keep the content coming 🔥🔥
Flemlo real talk as a man your videos have became like therapy over the years, I always learn or at least am reminded of something useful to my mental every-time. Thank You.
Damn it's only 15 min into 2023 and I've been blessed with a FlemLo joint? Bettt.
After hear Pat McAfee talk about Andrew Luck, I said the NFL didn't deserve him. This just furthers my opinion. He is a good person who wanted to make others happy even at his own expense. It just had to play itself out long enough for him to realize what that really meant. Family is the most important thing you can bring to the world and make others happy. Glad he made it.
An eloquent explanation of a cautionary tale that concludes with a happy ending. I’m glad Andrew began to value himself as a person, not a commodity.
Fantastic video brother.
I used to watch your channel as a younger dude in 2017, lost it, and found it now again. Thank you for all the childhood memories, FlemLo!
God bless.
Flem going north fast to a million. Beyond deserves it. Thanks for years of inspiration and information.
FlemLo you should make a what happened video about our guy Carson Palmer because he's definitely very underrated and nobody knows how good Carson Palmer actually was
He did solid with the cards , sucks injuries in the end caught up ,
Happy new year, FlemLo! Appreciate all the work you put into everything and appreciate you had to give up some of your holiday to bring us more excellent content
that quote has got to be the best I’ve ever resonated with.
the time old question:
how do you fall out of love, with something you loved?
been a fan for awhile now man. always a lesson to be learned with every video. Great work 🙏🏻
I miss this dude. I'm from Indy and have lived here most of my life. It was a huge shock to the sports fans of this city when he abruptly retired. Hell, the Colts have had a bad quarterback situation ever since. Some fans here still think bad about him, and I get it. And while I was somewhat upset at first when he retired, I also somewhat understood why he did it. First, our offensive line didn't protect him. He got mashed the hell up every game. The GM and owners didn't put nearly the talent in to the O-Line during the drafts and free agency. Why draft the 'greatest prospect ever' and then NOT invest in an amazing O-line to protect him? It wasn't that way when we had Manning. That's always pissed me off. I'm certain that the Colts would have won another Super Bowl, hell maybe even two, had Luck been protected and stayed healthy. The dude was absolutely dominant out there. But its all 'what ifs'. Either way, I hope he finds whatever peace and fulfillment he needs. He really does seem like a good, genuine dude. Hopefully the rest of the fans can eventually understand it for what it really is.
That’s one of the biggest testaments to his greatness. The pathetic QB situation ever since. They had a decent starter in Jacoby Brissett. And threw him away too. Their only hope is through the draft. That’s what held KC back for decades. The minute they drafted a guy in Round One they became a dynasty. Not saying that’ll fix all of Indy’s problems but it’s the first place to start.
As a diehard Colts fan, I stopped watching football entirely when Luck retired. I knew when he left, it was the organization’s fault. And I knew it was the beginning of the end for the Colts for a while and my friends keep me in the loop with football news and scores.
And it turns out I was right because the Colts have been hot trash since Luck left.
I love Luck and what he brought to the team. We dumped Manning for him. But Colts fans have amnesia sometimes. This dude used to run straight into linebackers instead of sliding. He ruptured a spleen that way I believe. I'm not saying it's all on him by any means. Grigson was a horrible GM but Luck didn't help himself at times either.
Happy New Year man ...
That night they boo'd him like that ... the Colts fans pissed me off then. I am not going to act like anyone (including myself) is perfect or flawless ... but Andrew always struck me as a REALLY good guy .. forgot his on the field talent for a second. I wish him the best no matter what he does now or down the line
Ben Maller is a great example of how reports can lose touch and have no clue what they are talking about. Hope he sees the wrong in his ways and makes improvements
He won't because he's always been that way. I've stopped tuning in to him over 15 years ago. He's a complete douchebag of a radio host, who always believe he's right. Anyone with opposing views are idiots, and he's unwilling to have meaningful dialogue, or compromise. One thing to agree to disagree, but he continues to be argumentative while berating/beating you down trying to force you to believe in his views.
FlemLo, thank you for everything you do! The humanity that you pull into every story is absolutely unmatched.
I can't believe he got booed walking off the field. Dude was an absolute legend for 5 out the 6 years he played and he was a one man team with a trash o line and a complete moron for the GM. He would have won multiple superbowls and been a first ballet hall of fame had he kept playing and been the qb of the Colts teams they've had since he retired. Shit still breaks my heart as a life long Colts fan. Watching Reich get fired for having his 4th over the hill QB in his 5 years and watching Matt Ryan out there looking like a 60 year old playing qb. Smmfh
I hope the best for Andrew in post retirement, he was a great player and we all know he's also a great guy.
I always feel bad for Luck, he deserved so much more
How the reporter broke the story was classless. Put Andrew and the fans in an unwinnable situation just to break a story that was going to come out an hour later.
Loved hearing this Story, I am grateful Andrew got to see what really mattered in his lifeafter all. As for you FlemLo, I hope you have a great 2023 and if you have any weight holding you back I hope you can fight through it.
The amount of research and time you take in these videos is really amazing. Keep it up
You got to do what’s best for you and family. Football years are short amount time of life, can not fault a man for choosing his family
Fem, I say it all the time, but you have something that a lot of other CZcamsrs do not have. INTEGRITY. That is why I come back to your channel day after day year after year. The nuance that you take every story with of these tragic heroes is something unmatched. I love your style, your channel, and your compassion. I hope you will continue to cover stories like this one for many years to come.
That 2018 was his best season yet. Only sacked 18 times. I could see a Super Bowl coming. And then bam. I’m still so heartbroken 💔.
Hey my Brotha, thank you for helping a lot of us get through COVID. Keep growing bro
It's a good day when Flemlo uploads.
Happy new year FlemLo! Here's to an even better 2023 for you, your family, and your channel!
Here i am, sitting alone two hours away from midnight on new years, and FlemLo is dropping? Goddamn..
Happy new years to everyone, but ESPECIALLY to FlemLo!
This was such a sad story, I had no idea how deep this story was. And you delivered it very well.
as a die hard colts fan i understood why he had to step down i didn't feel betrayed especially bc we had jacoby & he had potential
Not a Colts fan but was always a Luck fan. That man got decimated trying to do his job with one of the worse O-lines I had seen. He got beat down over and over but still put up amazing numbers. The booing was so lousy when the that ass Schefter broke the retirement news before Andrew got to announce it and explain himself. What a sorry way to treat a man who had given so much of every part of himself to the Colts.
FlemLo, you consistently put out such in depth quality vids. I appreciate you. Thank you. Happy New Year. Best wishes for 2023 for you and your family.
Happy New Year FlemLo & all!
yo that hair you be looking great my man; hope all is well and have a great 2023 :)

Happy New Years Flemo thank you for a great 2022 can’t wait to see what you got next year
Happy New Year !!!! Eternal Success and Blessings for you and your entire family.
It’s a sad commentary of our species when football fans think a human being personally owes them their body and mental health.
Awesome content, Flem!!
really inspiring considering I am also struggling witn my own identity as a person and found real clarity in this video, thank you FlemLo for another great therapy session. 😆
Good one brother, music, story, production all of it

Great job Flem. I love you vids. Can’t wait for the next Bengals vid to drop. Salute on the background music, it’s Dope.🙏🏿💯👑

As a Bears fan being from Indy, that's who we rooted for, but when the Colts came along we had another team, I still root for the Bears and The Colts. We loved Luck when he was here, and we loved him when he left, we only wanted what he wanted, we knew he was hurting mentally and physically. he is a smart person period! God bless Him and his family...Amen!

Damn Flemlo as a Colts Fan an Indiana boy this one hit home hard well research produced and delivered! You the podcast sports GOAT respect and your time will be coming RESPECT
Wow, genuinely some powerful and stuff to find himself and and just be him. Sometimes I guess the quirks, the qualities, the nuances that solidify the M.O. we are familiarized with can be meant to keeping us focused and grounded. Sometimes though it overtakes and supercedes everything in our lives holding us hostage until purpose finds us. The first bit of the vid threw me off a lil. My bad insomnia keeps me up so I spend some time listening overnight and am a fan of The Ben Maller Show. Dude can be a real character with his sometimes outlandish, cringe and controversial takes. I dig because I appreciate those who carry original opinion like him, you, Brandon Perna, McAfee amongst some others but Ben's take with the Luck story I wasn't on board with. Thanks to you and everyone with originality, multiperspectives, creativity, humor and empathy. Love the channel.
Hey flem I just want to say your progress throughout the years has kept me inspired and I appreciate it bro...keep up the heat 🔥🔥🔥
