I lost my Shih Tzu Samantha about a month and a half ago on Sep 8, 2022. I brought her home at 8 weeks old. Everyone who met her fell in love with her because she would get so excited to see them and she let them know it too,. Losing her was the hardest thing I've ever been through. When I first decided to get a dog I figured I would have approximate 15 years with the dog I would eventually get but what I didn't count on was how much I would love her. I miss her SO much.

We recently rescued a 14 year old Shih Tzu male that was abused to the point that he has bitten 3 different owners and was to be put down. We have him now, we were both been bitten by him at first. We are gaining his trust day by day and he hasn't tried to bite for several weeks. We know what triggers him and excessive petting is one of those things. Grooming and claw trimming are two more. Picking him up must be done very carefully. Handling him is very tricky we use a cone collar and/or a muzzle to groom him. He is a good, friendly little dog 99% of the time but that 1% WOW! He likes to sit on our laps or beside us on the couch and snooze. When we get up he jumps down, trying to pick him up off the couch will result in a bite attempt.
We thought he deserved a good home where he'll be cared for and treated well. He'll never see the inside of a pound or rescue again.

My Shelby was a rescue dog I rescued her from my ex-wife who actually rescued her from the animal shelter, she wad getting tired of the dog and wanted to take it back to the shelter, and myself had never really been a dog owner but I took over and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.. makes me wonder who rescued who ♥️, my dog is all of those things in the video and much more and I wouldn't have it any other way.
i adopted Henry when he was 9 . hes 15 now and he makes my world happy. i know he is at the age that his time is limited and I'll miss him so so much. so i just make sure every day that he knows how much he is loved.
Alfy is my heart. He peeps through the window, barks at birds, loves his teddy bear and hates having his teeth brushed. He likes to sit out on the verandah in the evenings. And really doesn't want to be treated like a silly. He is my everything.
Mine loves his cuddles And always likes to be with me or beside me even follows me to the toilet and sits between my legs on the floor which I find annoying but it’s all part of this type of dog ownership 😊

My little fur baby is a blessing . Not only is she a great guard 🐶 but she is also a great nurse sensing elevated blood pressure and learned CPR compressions by age 2. I can’t imagine being without her

I rescued a Shih Tzue, he came from a puppy mill, he doesn't know how to play or go down stairs it's so hard to watch, but he is learning. I Love him so much, he does this thing like circling he does it all the time I'm taking him to the Vet April 7

I did too. 29 dogs in the house. He didn’t play at all. Started him 1 day a week at doggy day care. He loves it and loves all of the dogs.
Mine doesn’t know how to go down stairs. He will lay down, and wait for me to pick him up and tote him down.🤣
He does go up the stairs with ease, though.

Watson, my rescued Shih Tzu, does get fed up with too much snuggling, especially the older he gets. But, he follows me from room to room and has to be with me all the time. He doesn't hate the bath, but gets fidgety when trying to get his thick fur completely dry. He loves walks, car rides, and the words "let's go." He is not especially active. Likes to nap most of the day and only occasionally plays with his toys (always by himself). He does not fetch or tug with me. Just likes his toys to himself. He is not fond of other dogs and, if one comes to visit, he insists on being in my lap the whole time. Don't know if he is afraid I will get attention from the other dog, or he is afraid of the other dog. As long as he is in my lap, he is fine. He is always sweet and very tolerant of my attention. Best little dog I have ever known. Rarely barks, except when someone comes on our porch. He never bites! Don't think he would even consider it. What an angel he is. Would definitely have another Shih Tzu, but not while he is around. He wants to be my one and only.

Fifi doesn’t like being forgotten or left out of sight while I’m in a human conversation. She barks at me until I pick her up and hold her. She is so nosey, and wants to be in the know of what’s going on or discussed 🐶
My Shih Tzu does love her space, she wants to be in the same room with me but not in my lap. Maggie is 2 yrs. she’s keeps us laughing , all the things you said are so true. You got to give them. exercise and she loves to walk.Thank you for information.
My Shihtzu loves me. He follows me where ever I go. He starts to cry if I leave him alone for 5 minutes. So that means I keep him with me all the time. He even sleeps with me. He sleeps in my bed and

My shitsu, before she passed of cancer, hated loud noises. Everytime an ambulance passed by while I was walking her, she would howl. So it must had hurt her little ears. I miss her sooo much. She was a rescue. I'll know I will never get that lucky again to get a small dog like her.
So so sorry for your loss of your beloved baby. I too lost my BabyGirl last September. I was blessed to love her for almost 17 years. Please don't give up on getting another one. I waited 4 months for my Kelsea . She's also a Shih tzu. So thankful that she's in my life. Again really sorry for your loss . It's a heart breaking challenge to go through. VR
Caroline Rye I'm so sorry for your loss it really hit home as my 15yr old shzue rescue baby has cancer and not doing well 5yrs ago we went to pick him a friend he backed away from several but when he seen this baby Maltese he started dancing very happy so we brought her home oh how he loves her and trained her well but i kno the time is coming soon and it's so heartbreaking i can tell my orther one can smell the cancer me and my fur baby has been through so much together myself and my Maltese are gonna be so lost without him 💔
Vicki Ross I'm sorry you had to go through that as well it's so hard I'm glad to hear you got another sweet baby as i wrote the other comment my boy has cancer they're wanting me to let them put him down he's found a place to hide and i try to keep him comfortable i feel I'm being selfish some tell me to let him pass at home but i do no it's time, this video just popped up on my phn, and as i read both of yall had lost yals just so heartbreaking i have to find the strength to do the right thing 😢
Our little guy has his own personality he is very loving and loyal he Is treated and care for with lots of love and he returns that love 100 % we would be lost without him he makes all our days enjoyable ❤
I just don't get how anyone could not pay attention to these beautiful sweet little creatures. When they look at you with big bright loving eyes the heart melts. My little boy loves being hugged, petted, scratched at tail and kissed. He is not crazy about lod noises especially fireworks but doesn't have meltdown over it. I have to disagree with most of what shihtzus hate because they are all different and I've had 3 shih tzus in my life and none of them have ever NOT DISLIKE BEING LOVED ON. in fact would/will get upset with you for ignoring them.
My little guy Zippy was left outside on a run in New England weather. Someone called the dog officer on the abuser and he was taken. He was so broken he required attention he wasn't going to get. He's getting what he needs now! :)
I agree....my little Piper loves people, kids, hugs, kisses, and all the attention she can get.......if you could sit 24/7 and rub her belly, she would be your best friend forever.
The only noise she don't like is the smoke detector, when it goes off

She follows me, hanging on to my ankles or feet, everywhere, if she can't see me
She is a registered service dog, so she got to fly to Texas with me over Christmas, she didn't like take off or landing 😂, but she survived

We adopted our Shih Tzu 1 year ago, when he was 8 yrs. old. Poor Toby had never been outside...was trained to use "pee-pads." Although the owner had several cats, Toby had never seen another dog...or a blade of grass. We rescued him when his owner passed. It only took 2 weeks to house break him. This past year has been so much fun watching him discover the world he never got to experience. He still doesn't really play with toys.... prefers a dish towel or a sock. He does act a lot like a cat though...lol. We love him!

My nearly 9yr old Shih-Tzu is the most amazing companion dog ever. He has a wonderful temperament and loves people. Generally follows me everywhere or will stay put as long as he can see me. He's not to keen on his baths but tolerates them well, loves his groomer although he is very sensitive around his face though. Like a lot of dogs he dislikes been pat on his head from above so I alway pat the side of his face. Loves daily walks, rides in the car and sharing his toys. He's not a barker unless a noise surprises him, but his biggest fear is thunder and lightening. Even his secure thunder jacket doesn't stop him shaking, so now the drapes get pulled, the music goes up, and I play games to try and drown out the noise and distract him. Wouldn't be without him ❤
They have special clothing for dogs who are afraid of lightning and thunder. It’s supposed to calm them. I haven’t tried it, but it might be worth a shot!
@@judedeprey6831 Hi. Yes that is what a bought him It's called a Thunder Jacket and it is supposed to apply a tiny bit of pressure on him as if to comfort. Unfortunately it hasn't worked on him at all 😪
That's funny, petting my Zippy on the side of his face will get you bit but the top of his he likes. He does not like to be towered over while on a chair, he starts to growl. I tell him no and make him get off the chair for a few to let him know growling at me has consequences. He's getting better one day at a time.
My Shihtzu on the other hand loves cuddling all the time and follows me everywhere I go. She is a very playful doggo and likes to have guests around. She doesn’t mind playing with other dogs but not all of them and yeah she revenge poops if I don’t let her follow and guard me in the bathroom. She is a little ball of fur who is loving and follows her momma’s commands,but also know how to take advantage of the fact that she is everyone’s favourite.
I’ve had 5 Shitzu’s I’ve never had one that’s active! One of the reason we have gotten Shitzu’s is I have Fibromyalgia it’s been the best with these breeds. Mine love attention but are very picky about who picks them up. The Shitzu I have now was badly abused but has bonded with me. She loves having her tummy rubbed, and being close to Mommy even if that means sleeping on my head 😂

Yes I own a Shih tzu, and what he gets sorely distressed about are loud noises and fights & arguments between people.
Mine is ShiTzu/Beagle. She rarely wants to be out of my sight. This is the absolute smartest and most loving friend I've ever seen. She lets me know when she is really happy or excited with a smile. This varies from just her lips turned up s bit all the way to a full grin with her from teeth showing. She learned early that if she thinks she's in trouble based on the tone of voice she will quickly grin and I can't be upset anymore because she looks so silly I always crack up instead. This dog goes absolutely everywhere with me. If she isn't welcome then I'm not going.

Well, Oliver loves to be cuddled, to be caressed, following his master everywhere, if master is out, he is getting very sad… all the opposite of what’s said in that video and he is a pure Shitzu 😁😁😁
You absolutely nailed this one! Buster only let us hold him about the last 3yrs of his 17yrs. He had to be between my husband & I during a thunderstorm.
We have 2 Shih Tzu's, brother and sister, Mork (male) and Mindy (female) that have totally different in personalities. Mork is Mindy's protector. He is pretty laid back but doesn't like being messed with by other people especially kids. He has a place that he can go to for quiet time. Fireworks and loud noises don't bother him. He seems to understand everything we say.
Mindy on the other hand loves to play with everyone, especially kids; she can go all day. She is a bit slow when asked questions of. It seems she thinks about it forever before doing what we ask! Mindy is scared of Fireworks and thunderstorms. She literally shakes. Sometimes she will let us hold her and another time she will hide behind the couch or under a table. Seeing as neighbors aren't considerate when letting of Fireworks, it makes it hard to use tranquilizers. We don't mind the Fireworks if they are only let off on 4th July or New Year's eve. But its days before and after.
We love and adore our dogs and wouldn't change them for anything. They brighten up our retirement days.
I know all dogs are different, and good video for those considering a shih tzu. All mine have been rescues except for one rehomed fella. They all love attention and belly rubs, being held like a baby forever. My little gal was a puppy mill survivor and she adores people. wants to greet everyone she meets. she loves affection but she is content to have her alone time too.
All true,I take my boy for a daily walk. He runs and plays but definitely enjoys quiet time alone to rest when we get home

I moved home for a few months due to a renovation. My parents would argue & I would see a little white flash come into my room to jump on my bed in fright. My parents pretty much stayed at home so he was happy to be with them watching them just incase they were going for a drive as he had to be the first in the car. When died suddenly, my parents' health declined too. Sadly they seemed to lose the drive after 12 years with him in the house & being cared for. He knew if I went out late Friday, I was probably shopping that meant a "present for him" & he would wait for me to get his pig's ear LOL.
He had a habit of jumping on beds & sliding around kicking things off with his feet. Often there was a Squeaky Toy dumped on a bed to annoy us but when you see that little face with a ear over one eye - how can you not like them. Post Men delivered on a squeaky moped so he knew who was coming & would bark until the noise stopped. Once a week there was an ice cream truck that delivered bulk popsicles & the like but with a Ding Ding - Ding Ding bell he would go berserk as the driver went up & down the streets.
My shitzu mix, is a sweet adorable soul. She has to be wherever I am, she loves giving kisses, and being next to me or on my lap. Love her so so much.
Mine hates loud noises, so she has a "thunder house" that she hides in if there is a thunderstorm. It is a dark plastic container with a hole cut out. She loves it. She also likes alone time.
Pixel is a black long haired shih tzu he is my 5th rescue dog. I have had two shepherd's and two terriers , shepherd's my favourite. But pixel has ev ery one of these traits. He hates being bored. Not fussed on hugs. Very nosy but loves people and animals . When on walk he goes up to people a d familys like long lost friend's lol. He hates noises and his alone time. Spot on.
Chase the love of my life. My daughter gave him to me he was nearly a hand full. He was wonderful from the start we played together like two pupies. He loved everyone and would let you hold him and carry him around. Loved to go in the car. He only weighted 5 lbs. Chase went to Doggy Heaven when he was only 10 yrs old. He was limping so I wanted him seen by his Vet but she didn't have time. I took him to someone else. SHEs
Mine is 21 years old he is an amazing little fellow and is frightened of nothing he has been fed home cooked food all his life consisting of beef , chicken , rice or pasta with peas and carrot , nothing with sugar, some dry dog food, and chopped raw chicken necks for his teeth , you need to check their eyes , I use a damp cotton pad and eye drops as he has dry eye , he also has arthritis in his back legs but his heart is good according to the Vet...they are amazing dogs an x they deserve to have caring , loving owners
Can't thank you enough for the information about shih-tzus. My dog is 11 years old and through her whole life she's been. allergic to certain things. I've been quite careful about it. Recently she developed some problem with her eye. I've been using Tobramycin 0.3%. I hope it will help. Thing are improving but slow.

She loves to be cuddled. She hates to be alone. She thinks she is one of us, hates being left out. She has to sit at the table & eat her dog food, wants to be part of the family.
Mine will follow me everywhere and wants to be with me all the time but she does not want cuddles. Often she will just get up and go behind the lounge so I guess that's wanting her own space. This breed is the best ever.

Well it makes more sense now when I try to get my little girl out of the bed and she gets super grumpy!!!! She's not done resting and it also makes sense when she pushes my hand away if I try to rub her belly sometimes!!!! Glad I watched this because I was worried I was being a bad mommy to my baby!!!! Now I know when I should give Sweet Lucy her space!!
My Nala is a rescue dog. I rescued her from a couple that my husband and I worked for. He would throw her outside in the freezing rain when he got mad at his wife.... I was finally able to save her when his wife, who had a gambling problem, needed money to go to the boat.. anyway I only gave her 300.00 and it was the best 300 I've ever spent. I couldn't have made it thru this last year if It had not of been for her. I lost my mom and brother within 7 mo of each other and Nala kept me from becoming a basket case. My husband thinks I'm weird because I said I wouldn't take a million dollars for her... I really wouldn't. You can't put a price on love and I really love her. She has brought us so much joy.

Chewbacca is my little shadow and follows me everywhere in the house and yard. He loves lap time. He does not like loud voices or yelling. Thunder and lightening do not bother Chewbacca, I believe because I did not make a big deal out of the thunderstorms in FL when he was a puppy, same thing for fireworks. Chewbacca also sleeps in my bed and night and lays against me most of the night. He will wake up, but then right back to snoring. Chewbacca also rarely barks, and only during times of exciting playtime. He loves to travel in his chair behind mine, and is a good travel partner everywhere I go.
I’m on my 4 Shitzu. I have owned the breed for 45 years and LOVE them. I have never gotten a bad or spoiled dog. But you are 100% correct on your comments about what they like and what they don’t. I have my 4th male, he is 1 years old and full of mischief like they always are. My last one lived to age 17 and was blind and deaf from birth. He was the best dog I ever had and I miss him terribly. But my new pup is an absolute love. We have always owned black Shitzu males but we now have a blond male and he is so awesome I just cannot believe it.

SO true. My babies hate most of the things on this list especially being bored. They all must have my touch. When sleeping, they have to touch me . I LOVE MY BABIES
I feel so sad over the loss of my Shitsu. I was scammed out of my life's savings to get another Shitsu. I am more heart broken than ever. I know in my heart that I will never be able to get another Shitsu. And this makes me cry everyday.

Ive always adored them and have 3. Never seen a shih tzu that didnt enjoy nearly constant attention and petting pretty much all the time. Totally happy laying in your lap when watching TV or other sedate activities! They even have to be close enough to touch you when they sleep if you allow it. As for for being bored…nope. Perfectly fine snoozing on the couch all day no matter what activities are offered although they are very playful when awake no matter the age. Shih Tzu alone time?? Never witnessed that! I have noticed they don’t like for you to get in their face. Our breath is horrible to them! And last but not least, a good diet is important but to a lot of Shih Tzu, it includes poop. Impossible to break them of eating their own poop. Id say Shih tzu are very different, more like cats at times than dogs just not as standoffish.
Just got one gifted to me it’s a puppy and having trouble potty training him he has a big personality and totally understands everything but sometimes chooses to do what he wants 🤦🏼♀️ it’s my first dog so I’m kind of overwhelmed a little thinking of buying him some obedience classes.

I was given an older shnitsu and she is the best dog ever she loves to cuddle and curl up on the couch with me to nap she never goes potty in my house and loves being petted I guess I got lucky😁
My shih tzu is a 12 year old rescue from Kuwait. She loves to follow me around and only likes a couple of my friends and family that visit. She gets anxious when anyone else is in the house and will almost sit on my feet to keep away from them. She loves visiting the vet hospital and loves the staff there. They spoil her and she hates to leave. She has some visual impairment and hearing lost but can find her way there no matter which way we go. She wants to go there everyday and is so calm when being treated. She has a history of being abused. She also loves her groomer at Petco.
I have a Shih Tzu of 7 months. Have been with me for 4 months. My major issue is his inability to be alone in the cage when I have to go for grocery shopping or appointments. I had left him on the cage, for at least 1.5 hour, IPad recording and he had cried the whole time. Did not pay attention to the treats I gave him.

I grew up with big dogs....and my Shih Tzu was a unplanned rescue....I found him running out in front of my car....he was hiding under a SUV....and I couldn't find his owner and didn't want to leave him afraid that he eventually would be hit by a car....so I drove a block to my home got a old cat carrier and some deli turkey and coaxed him out after a hour...I took him to the Vet to get a shot so the groomer would bathe him...I walked around the Pet store while he was being groomed and bought things for him....I spent approx $300 the first day....its been a couple of months....the first 2 weeks was a ride...between the barking episodes every evening like clock work (of which has stopped).....and a couple of accidents on the carpet....because I wasn't taking him out often enough....I'm used to my freedom and didn't think that I could commit...its like having a child....but we have our routine now....he was already house broken....so he is a keeper!!.....but can I ask?...why do some people bathe their pets in the kitchen sink??....what is with that?....dogs no matter how cute, have germs..bacteria....feces... urine......there is the bathroom for that....I personally use one side of the laundry tub...the washing machine drains in to opposite half....its perfect...its deep .....I have to be careful and hold him during his bath, because its a long way down if he tries to jump out onto the laundry room floor.....
My little guy Baxter hates loud noises, arguments and being bored. He loves to play!!!!! My Shih-Tzu Buddy hates the same things but is happy with lots of hugs, car rides and sleeping. I ❤ my doggies. 😊

My shih tzu Cocco he is a diabetic medical alert service dog n none of these traits apply to him. He's 100% shih tzu. He does have some quirky behavior . He expects to be feed his wet pate' dog food cubed n feed with a fork. Will only eat dry dog food out of my hand. He fetches anything that is safe for him to pick up in his mouth. He is never alone , I should have named him shadow because he definitely is my shadow. He never wants alone time. N he loves tasting me that's how he tells that I need to check my blood sugar levels. He also smells when my blood sugar is too high or too low. N retrieves my glucometer. N will yell at me to test. If extremely too high or too low. His favorite place to visit is my diabetic specialists office. My doctor takes him n walks him around the waiting room n he rats out the people who need to test their blood sugar. 2yrs ago Cocco woke me up by dropping my cell phone on my neck. I was having a heart attack while I slept. My dog saves my life on a regular basis and I think he is a hero. N I am just lucky that Cocco chose me to love above anyone else. He is never more than 2feet from me. By the way he has a Stirling Silver fork. N a friend made him a special plate with a little ridge around the edge. A friend who makes her own pottery. Gave Cocco his dinner plate. He only eats food off of his plate. He has never been ruled by food n can't be bribed by food. He expects a thank you n a kiss n hug for every wonderful thing that he does. Sometimes I think that there is a human trapped in my dog's body. That's how crazy smart He is.
My Dylan loves to play. However, I have walked him near live music bands and the drums freak him out !!! No live music for Dylan …unless it’s super mellow 💟

If you want your Shih Tzus trained I would recommend you contact my wife for assistance. For 16 years ours was one foot behind there all day long. If he fell asleep and woke up and he couldn't see her he went into a panic looking for her. He thought he was the male with the most stripes in the house. He would jump in my TV chair and dare me to move him. I would gently lift him up and place him in his doggy bed and he would stare at me for an hour. She is a neat freak and deprived him of pooping on the grass. When he got into the position she would shove a pooper scooper covered with a paper towel, under his butt so she could easily dump it into the toilet. He was so confused that sometimes he would raise his front leg to pee. This is meant to be humorous but totally true. All is told with respect of my wife. She is a great wife and Mother but not much into doggy training.
My Kloe hates the doorbell with a passion! Whenever the doorbell rings she barks her head off until she knows who's coming - after that she's ok. She just loves people and is never aggressive to strangers.
My shihtzu was so afraid of thunder! We tried a thunder shirt, which worked for our maltese, but it didn't help. We ended up moving to a place with almost no thunder storms and it's been a huge relief
My two shih tzus love to be near me 24/7 they are spoiled beyond they get what they want they bring me so much joy they hate to be smothered

I have a rescue, with 16 breeds in her. (The shelter did the DNA test), among which one is the shih tzu. She def has many traits in common. Especially the touching. She lets us know though, in a sweet way.
I also have a rescue with 29% shih tzu plus at least 4 more breeds. She is so much like the video and the smartest and sweetest little dog I have ever had! She loves to be petted on the head and have belly scratches but only when she wants!

This is my 5th Shih Tzu and she loves to be rubbed a lot, when you stop, she scratches at your hand for more. Her major downfall is she anxious when a motorcycle goes by or a truck with a trailer and she spins, she will even lunge at noisy trucks, when we are out walking. I can distract her somewhat. She also hates rain/thunderstorms and fireworks. As soon as I hear the noise I give her 1/4 gravol pill and 20 minutes later she is calm. She weights 18 lbs.
They are the most beautiful natured dog.

My male Shih Tzu hates loud TV volume and goes to a different part of the house if the volume is too high. Thunder, banging (such as hammering) vacuuming, and yes, fireworks make him very anxious, and he usually gets as far away as possible.
My dog is a mixed breed between Yorkshire and Shih tzu (a shorkie) but when I watched this video my dog really related to all of this-

My little Muffin is a cuddle bug and we share a special bond. She will put her head on my chest and look up into my eyes with affection. She is not happy with noise, especially with referee noise on NHL games so we have to turn the volume down and read the Close captions! Yes! Do we mind- No- she likes to be with me all the time and loves my hubby , barking hello when he comes into the house. She will be one year old end of September 2022. Our 5th shix tzu, the only breed we look for. She gets all my attention and loves to go for walks.

My wife and I have two, 3 month old, black and white, males, Fonzie and Rocky. They’re very smart, super active, we give them their space and time but of coarse, my wife likes to pet them, cuddle with them etc. I’m more into training them and let them know, without yelling, who’s alpha.
Our main concern it’s that they like to rough house but can sometimes get aggressive. Should we separate them in separate crates.? They share one. We’re concerned that as they get older, they may be very aggressive. Help.

If I have to be there in heaven before my little Strudle I'll just sit there by the gate until Strudle comes along for you see..... Heaven just wouldn't be the same without him .
I have one And she actually loves hugs, she comes and give me them or let me know she wants one.
My dog is a Shih Tzu, my dog follows me everywhere and there r times he likes to be alone so we just let him be. He loves his toys and doesn't like it when u start taking away his toys he bites aggressively. Lol! He does come to me at times and pats on my leg and he wants me to carry him he loves it when I sing him a lullaby and falls asleep. He hates fireworks he doesn't hide or run away instead he barks a lot and like he is ready to fight. Lol!
My fur baby begs for pets and cuddles he hugs me..he is with me 24 hours a day and follows me everywhere I go even to the bathroom.He loves showers rather than a bath :) and tells me vocally when he want's something..I agree on some points but each one is unique and have their own quirks.

Mine definitely jumps on me when I walk . She jumps on furniture like a cat. Sleeps with me cuddles up. Plays ball. She has her favorite ball. She hates tennis -all. She loves to run and chase her ball at park. And I love her kisses. She's a joy to own.

She's right! When a dog/cat pee's in an inappropriate place it's to get your attention. Maybe they are ill or not. Negative attention is better than no attention at all.
