- I know. It sounds boring. I didn’t even want to make this video. But if you’re dreaming the dream of being a part time macadamia farmer, or just juggling your time commitments - have a look. It might help.
Another very informative presentation. Thankyou
Thank you @Nutkin Farm.
You really breakdown the work on macadamia growing to a level where all is made simple yet truly, the work is involving.
Glad you like it Zoe. Sometimes it’s anything but simple though!
Great information again, Daniel. Thank-you very much! It's good to hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak. That will help with our planning when the time finally comes.
Glad you liked it Jane. Sometimes it’s a bit personal to make videos like this one, but there’s a benefit to some people so I will, from time to time!
Thank you.
You're welcome!
rất hữu ích, chúng ta cùng phát triển cây mắc ca nhé
Congrats on hitting 1K subs.
Thanks Frank. Would you believe Bruce Chester snagged the prize of being my 1000th?
I’m a Margaret St farmer who can’t afford to outsource anything so right now nothing is being done. I’m heading up for a couple of weeks at Easter so I’m hoping it’s fairly dry between now and then and while I’m up there.
Maybe my strategy of planting the trees and then letting them fend for themselves while I work in the city, maybe it won’t. I hope the majority of trees will make it and those that don’t will be replaced. I hope the number of losses decrease as the trees get more established and bigger. At this point of time I’m glad my orchard is no bigger than what it is.
Honestly I’m really disappointed with this summer. I was really looking forward to a dry hot summer as I believe it would have done the trees a lot of good. Maybe this wet and hot weather is the new normal. However I’m sure there will be dry times in the future where everything is dead like it was five years ago.
I Karl I can not believe this summer, the grass and soil has even eaten the woodchips and the weeds that have taken over are 4/5 foot tall around the trees.
We need to have a coffee in Margaret Street and compare notes Karl. So that’s why you’ve been quiet on your channel lately. I miss your videos!
This has been a difficult summer for ground control. No doubt.
We finding that it's better to slash the grass as little as possible. It provides an alternative habitat for pests and beneficial insects in between the trees. The farms look untidy but once you realise that it's good for nature it doesn't worry the farmer so much. 😊
Untill you come to mow is and a billion moths fly out that end up laying eggs in your trees (twig girdler, nut borer ect)
Then comes with that the odd brown snake like I found out two weeks ago
@@mattikelby5571 Hi Matti, yes it's better for the moths and insects to have something to feed on in the long grass than have a mono culture of macs where pesticides have to be increased every year as they build up resistance to the chemicals.
@@mikewood6104placing micro bat boxes around the place is the next thought to cut down on the moth populations.
Thanks Mike. I can comfort myself with that view of it! My agronomist prefers regular mowing as a way of building up mulch material, but I see your argument for sure.
If you run a mulcher over it, it will slow the growth of the grass.
When are you doing your price video? I've heard 3.50-5.60
Thanks Trent
Hi Trent. Rumours are all over the place. I want something solid!!
