Should F1 Bring Back Magny-Cours?

- So recently, iRacing added Magny-Cours to it's track list, I absolutely love this circuit, from watching F1 back in the 2000s as well as driving on this track on the old Formula One Championship Edition which was based on the 2006 championship. As well as this, iRacing has also very recently added the new 2022 Mercedes F1 car and it got me thinking, how would these modern, high downforce cars take to Magny-Cours? And should F1 bring back this legendary Circuit?
My wheel is the Fanatec CSL DD Boost Kit, buy direct from Fanatec:

Yes please I love this circuit. I drove it a lot and always looked forward to it from Formula One 2001 to Championship Edition. Lovely memories.
You fooled me with the Thumbnail i thought we were gonna get an assetto corsa video
Editor here, Assetto Corsa is prettier so I chose that 😅
@@BenjaminBauckham makes sense
Iracing is a pleasant surprise considering its significantly more realistic than the AC Mods.
@@BenjaminBauckham Seems that how prettier the game, how worse the physics.
F1 22 can look very good but its physics are utter garbage
iRacing looks alright but it has the best car physics known to the public.
ACC is an exception where the game looks very good and also has some rly good physics.
favorite 2k years track to watch during the old seasons :)
For ultimate laptime the 2020 Mercedes should be the quickest, right?
The excessive weight of the modern cars is what really hurts them. I’d like the wheelbase length to decrease too.
Also I’d Bring Magny-Cours back in a heartbeat over some of these awful street tracks we’ve got now. And absolutely wouldn’t be going to Paul Ricard if this track was available…
I want Charade back in modern F1!
Oh yeah it absolutely needs to come back. I miss T1-3, and the two high speed chicanes immensely. T1 is generally flat out as early as ~2001. Can begin T2 flat, then you have to lift to get the front end back in in order to hit the apex of T3.
Great video :) Looks super fun.
Yeah it used to be flat out through T1
Sadly this circuit is so "in the middle of nowhere" than it has nearly no chance of coming back to F1... And that's even before contemplating FOM's commitment to sell itself to highest bidders, in complete disregard for F1 fans
Maybe if you used softs it would give you more grip 😅
Hey Alex, what do you have to do to just hotlap around in iracing in these formula cars? Do I have to go through formula vee and stuff before or just buy it and jump right in?
for AI races and solo hotlaps you can jump right in after you've bought iRacing and the car + tracks you like
I think the only thing that can be changed to reduce weight on modern F1 cars without compromising safety is fuel. It's definitely not enough to bring back the lighter early '00 cars, but I wouldn't trade more fun in exchange for more deaths.
@MPG could you explain yourself a bit more? It seems logical to me that more weight equals more volume around the pilot that can absorb the impacts.
Alex do you remember the circuit of wales
Why are you not using the logitech wheel?
it was sponsored so he had to give it back to logitech
@@OMM.F1 it's sitting behind him on display
I’m assuming he just prefers the fanatec
Bring back refuelling and boom lighter cars
first
Yes
