Have you experienced your speaker making poping sounds and the sound being faint and dull when water gets in? I called minelab for my 800. They said to me that adding silicone doesn't void the warranty. I did the same thing for the back. I still haven't done the speaker part. Can you still hear the sound coming out of the speaker when adding the cover and silicone? I was thinking of just adding waterproof tape, like flex tape for the speaker part.
Looks great for waterproofing the electronics... but how will this effect any future need to change the battery? Isn't the battery is located under all of that silicone?
that is pretty sweet. what is up with that paper hole minelab? its almost like its a moisture sticker that would turn pink on the old cell phones to mark if they got wet. i bet that paper hole will only withstand 10 feet pressure depth. any greater will make it rupture and flood the inside of machine
Can someone explain..i buy a new Equinox 800.first time i try put my md only 5 minit my screen slowly full with water i think its ok coz my md still working,but after 15 minute.my monitor shockly off and can not On...only three week i use this md.i got a new md not seconhand..why not waterproof.i check all cable is tight.now i claim my warranty..but i m scared right now to use at underwater
It is..and it will get hot. The problem is not the gore vent noor the o-ring...Excalibur II has the same o-ring!! The problem is tiny fissure or cracks, at the base of the handle.,,,around usb slot or around the coil`s connector. A piece of plastic can´t last forever...so, i suggest regulary mantainance with silicon grease (around usb slot, around cable connector, etc...) and try to sweep VERY SLOWLY inside the water, to avoid cracks on the 4 screws or in the middle of the handle. Although some machines could have problems with o-rings or speaker flooding....but this happens soon, not after some months of use.
i put some flex tape on the speaker hole day 1 an never had any issue,,,my hunting buddy bought a brand new one last week an already its leaking,,,there is some water on the display,,,,

Tengo un equinox 800 desde hace 3 meses se lleno de agua muchos peros para la garantia mal servio al cliente lo peor quieren que lo envie a estados unidos y no puedo por las baterias que lleva dentro nose que hacer de aver sabido nolo meto en el agua

This should be done immediately, especially if you are away from the minelab service
We should need to do any of this we pay 1000 dollars it should be proof

It is a GORE Vent, try searching with Google...

you should probably do the screen parameters too--with a clear sealing agent like the adhesive for the screen covers.
So after upgrade are you done try it at under water ..still leaking or not...

You can buy a silicone bung off eBay for about £7 they are specially made for the nox series 👍
do you mean a small plug for the paper hole, or you mean a tube of silicone?

You can remove the silicone without any problem, change the battery and put new silicone after that.
yes but he wont be a happy camper removing the 10 pounds of silicone from the battery door, I think he went a little crazy with it
first time I used mine in the water at the beach an water got in it will it dry out so I can seal with silicone or jus send it back?

The silicone is very soft and you can remove it without any signs.
has anyone asked minelab if this voids warranty just in case. or has there been any upgrades done by minelab?
