I appreciate that you didn't stretch this to a 10+ min video for 3 min worth of content & no loud obnoxious music. Just straight to the point! Thank you for posting!

This is by far the BEST video on this subject anywhere on the internet that I've found........! Thank you so much!

Thank you! Worked for my GMC Envoy. The locking mechanism on the right can be moved through the hole using your hand. Eazy peasy! Then use the screwdriver through the center "hole" and move it to the right to open the door. From there, at least you can get to the panel for removal and repair. My Envoy panel is very different, so Im going to need another video to remove it. But this video saved me soo much aggravation! Thank you!

2:30 You don't need to cut the interior trim in order to get the liftgate open or the plastic panel off. There's a small circular access hole on the bottom of the interior plastic trim of the lift gate which allows you to use a screwdriver to manually open the liftgate. Once the lift gate is open you can lift it up and then easily remove the interior plastic trim panel without any cutting.

Thank you for this video summary of your efforts. I appreciate the tips on the lube points. I had my hatch open, plastic panel off and the pivot points lubed within 10 minutes of watching this video.

Thank you Mark! Like you, I am a graduate of the CZcams School of Auto-mechanics. My envoy has been cranking a little longer than usual lately before starting....I’m not sure what the issue is, but will first try replacing plugs and running some fuel injector cleaner through it and then move on to more expensive and / or simply time consuming options like crank and cam position sensors and the fuel pump. Hate to throw parts at it, but these are parts that are going to fail at some point soon in my vehicles long life so I usually don’t mind doing them before that catch me on the road and far from home. Have a great day and rest of the summer. 👍

Great Video, however at 37 seconds you can see a part with a red nylon plug, that whole part may need to be bent slightly toward the driver side( or to the right when looking at it) for the lower rod to engage to open the tailgate. Over time it tends to bend to the left because of the cheap material its made out of. Its held on by 2 torx screws so can be done on a bench if needed.

Thanks Mark. I tried the other idea first also and I am glad i returned to find your video as I had the same issue with that third lever being stuck. Gate is now open, no to clean up the rust so it works smoothly.

There is a major flaw with these year models. You can pop off the exterior lift gate handle trim and pop the trunk open by a switch on the left side of the handle mechanism. Access from the outside within 15 seconds

Someone suggested I remove that little plastic circle and spray PB blaster inside it because the hatch may be rusted. Going to try when I return home

    Question
Did yours show rear access door open? On the cluster panel mine it’s showing that even tho it’s close and I can’t hear it lock when I press lock on my key.

Thank you! I got my trunk to open with that piece after it was stuck being locked but not shut all the way but now it will not unlock/lock with my remote and my key fob keeps beeping saying my trunk is open. Usually when I open/close the trunk I hear a little lock noise and I do not hear that anymore. Any ideas?
