This temple car was built by a rich native of Srivilliputtur during 1845 in consultation with temple priests with beutiful carvings and with steps inside to climb up.

Andal temple is synanimous with Srivilliputtur. The other famous one in Srivilliputtur is it's ( Paal Kova ) Milk Kova.
Though Andal temple is sanctimonious, the caste system was prevalent during darshan especially during this month Markazhi early morning Pooja.
At present I am not aware that this practice is still in vogue.
When I was a young man, I used to visit the temple for the early morning pooja at about 4 - 5 am. in Margazhi month.
All visiting devotees would be segregated into 2 groups as bramins & non brahmins on either side of the iron grill.
Brahmins would be given the first preference in pooja rituals. Also, only the Iyengar families of Villiputhur Alwar's descendants would have the sole right to enter the sanctum sanctorum.
It was pure caste syndrome then. I wish that this pure display of caste in front of God is abolished since then.
