Kamo'oalewa is believed to have originated as ejecta from the far side of the Moon.
It is called the far side because it is always faces away from the Earth. Calling it the dark side is erroneous because the far side receives as much sunlight as the near side.
It is believed that the Giordano Bruno Crater is the origin of Kamo'oalewa.
Kamo'oalewa and the Moon are both tidally locked to the Earth in a 1:1 resonance meaning that both orbit the Earth once per rotation about its own axis.
