I buy from New Directions Aromatics and I have all the oils you love and I add bergamot or petigrain to my citrus soaps. I love this company's oils and they are affordable. They all work so well in soap.
I have a very bad cold and just feeling so tired and sick. You two keeps me company and entertained while I recover. I just want to say thank you for shearing and all the vlogmas
I love the Bramble Berry orange 10x. It is so good and it stays in soaps for years! My first soap I ever made was with the orange 10x and you can still smell it. It is amazing! I highly recommend it next time you order from Bramble Berry. I agree with the Lime too. Lime is delightful!
The lemon Euc is very strong in the bottle, the tree leaves are great fresh from the tree. There's some other Aussie oils i think you would love eg lemon myrtle (smells like lemon lollies), honey myrtle, and euc peppermint and so many more. Ribs from the box yum! Cale cooks similar to my style, don't you love a man who can cook?
I love essential oils in CP soap. You can add 3.5% 5 fold orange with 1.5% cedarwood atlas / Texas as a fixer. Will last and create a beautiful citrus only smelling soap. I would assume lemon 5 fold would work also, but can't get it here in Australia unfortunately. If you can get some Peru Balsam essential oil, has very strong vanilla scent to it, dermal limit of 0.3% but sticks very well 🙏🙏🙏
I really appreciated the unboxing and talk on the essential oils…..I really had no knowledge of them….so fun to hear the favorites……I LOVE all of the broccoli stem…..cleaned up and prepared they are just as delicious and nutritious my Son…..loved the Jelly Jar Earrings….
I love your content. You make it seem so worth the effort and the frustration and the pure joy of the finished product! I'm a beginner in the soap world and I absolutely love watching you and your husband. You make it seem like it's not the end of the world if you mess up! Clean up, start again and enjoy the journey. God bless.
Your bath bombs are heavenly as are the essential oils in them! I was waiting for a bathroom renovation to be done before using them, now I can't get enough!
Love these vlogs....I enjoy peering (not in a weird way) into how people run their businesses. Also, there are recipes that use the broccoli stems...keep meaning to try but usually buy frozen broccoli. Happy Holidays!
Oven-Barbecued Spareribs: 1 Package of Costco uncut spareribs (2 in package) Line a high rimmed baking sheet with foil, place ribs in pan and cover with 2-4 sliced lemons and 2-4 sliced onions. The more the better! you can taste the lemons and onions steamed into the ribs. Put about 1-2 cups of water, eye it, in the bottom of that high rimmed baking sheet, cover with additional foil and steam for a good 2 hours at 350 degrees. Remove ribs from oven and cut into servings. Discard the water, onions and lemons. Place homemade barbecue sauce below on ribs and place back in oven, uncovered, for an additional 45-60 minutes. Homemade barbecue sauce made on stove: 1 cup water 2 cups catsup 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup ACVinegar 2t dry mustard 2t chili powder 1t pink sea salt 1t paprika 4 T Worcestershire Enjoy! Have with a side of summertime sweet corn-on-the-cob and a baked/mashed potato.
I guessed it right that the bigger container of essential oil was lavender. My favorite essential oils (actually the only ones I've been buying over and over) are lavender, lemongrass and tea tree. I always have to have those three... I'm watching this video to see other options of EOs to add to my products. Thank you!
Love New Directions Aromatics. I found them because I wanted a good deal on Shea butter for my hair years ago. Thanks for the recommendations on EOs. You pretty much have most of my favourites.
Broccoli stems are the best. I keep, cut, cook and eat them. None of that broccoli goes to waste. Lol they are slightly more firm than the flower so it adds texture.
As someone from Texas, I buy the Texas cedar wood from New Directions Aromatics all the time! I've found that if I mix about 10% of cedar wood with citrus essential oils, the citrus scent lasts longer in my CP soap - as well as other scents I use. I also have used their eucalyptus and I honestly can't tell the difference between eucalyptus and rosemary essential oil. Very strange...Enjoyed the video. Happy holidays!
Loving the Vlogmas series! Texas Cedarwood is actually a member of the Juniper family and didn’t work well for us since we have allergies to Juniper. New Directions Himalayan Cedarwood is our favorite. And Lemon Eucalyptus (while definitely a different smell) is wonderful as a natural insect repellent. Citrus scents do well if you include Litsea. You will like it!
We are definitely on the same page with essential oils!! And I love New Directions, too! You need to try Palmarosa EO. Its my new favorite. I think it smells like green tea. So soothing 🥰
If you peel the tough outer skin off the broccoli stems it can be grated into a really yummy coleslaw. I like to make it with a maple mayo/greek yogurt dressing and add in dried cranberries and pecans or pumpkin seeds. The Muskoka scent sounds so good! I need to try it.
Hi Jerika and Cale!! another awesome video. About eucalyptus lemon eo, yes it does smell weird. ThankGod I only got a small bottle. I love Eucalyptus spearmint.
I use patchouli and lime in my cp. it is so strong and my husband loves it so much! The orange 10x is a long lasting. I haven’t tried the 5x yet. I haven’t had good luck with the lemon eo. Let us know how it goes! Thank you for your recommendations! Merry Christmas!
It depends on time and mood. If it is during the work week, then I would prefer box that I can spice up myself. On the weekend I like all my meals to be from scratch. I am making a steak anniversary dinner from scratch while watching. TFS!
May I just ask your big three for zodiac signs? You’re organization skills are amazing. Right on up to how you list what we will need. It’s giving Taurus It’s giving Capricorn .. and it’s giving “Do You Have A Gay Sister?! Bc this is straight wife mode 😝🙌🥰”
It takes my husband about 10 mins on pressure cook any longer n they falloff the bone too much. We have a ninja foodi which is even better bc after they cook he air fry’s them a few mins to carameliza the bbq sauce. Mmm so yummy. With the Insta pot he had to put them in the oven to broil after cooking to get that crispy outside.
I've never made ribs! I bet I can find a recipe for it on Budget Bytes. That's my favorite recipe place ever. I wish the place I drop my packages off at had a cute puppy. Merry Christmas y'all
I put my ribs in the slow cooker. I first put down BBQ sauce. Then I put one part of the ribs and add put BBQ sauce on top of it. You can put as much or as little of BBQ sauce and ribs to your preference. Then I put my slow cooker on low and let it cook for 8-10hours. After that you can either grill it like I do in summer or broil it in the oven to your liking and add more BBQ sauce. The meat just falls right off the bone.
Love and have researched/used essential oils for about 40 years but they are tricky to use in soaps/body/candle products to get the best out of them. I make my own blends and regularly use them in our burners. I once used a combination carrier oil/essential oils concoction to rub onto my daughters rabbits leg after it got accidentally hurt badly and vet told us to put it down. 2 weeks later after much tlc/nursing, dat rabbit springing about again. 🤣🤣🤣🤣Frankinscence used sparingly is a fav of mine but def expensive and not everyones fav if overused. Cale...dins looked great as always. And oh yes Jerika, broccoli stems are delish and great finely chopped up in salads with a nice dressing.🙃😉
I LOVE blending essential oils! They are a wonderful ingredient and definitely worth reading up on to see their distant properties and to be able to use them to their full potential!
It's crazy, I have been looking all week at essential oils to add 1 soap to my line lol I would love to order sandalwood but it's just so expensive 😞 Tea tree essential oil is very tempting but so is Basil... Still can't decide!
I’ve been having so much stress because I’m a creature of habit, that’s my problem. So now I have to find a place who carries almost exactly the same fragrance’s. I finally did to spit a couple things but there prices well every ones prices were more expensive than they were the prices were the same across the board and over a $50.00 order shipping was from the pricing was exactly the same across the board. 2 Oz was $2.50 4 Oz was $7.47 the 8 Oz was $14.50. I’m surprised that they were not constantly sold out. I’m so worried that my wax melt’s aren’t going to smell the same. That will teach me. It’s so stressful when things like that happen. Dinner looked good and I love ur guy’s glasses.
I am LOVING this video. Could you make a video on how to create your own formulas using EO and FO. I want to give it a try but don’t even know where or how to start, and also make sure I’m following all the proper usage rates.
Hi Jerika! Would you mind telling me what size the bottle you ordered are please? Also i love watching your vlog 😁 Thank you for doing them i learn a lot from watching them.
I understand that your in Canada but I know Bramble Berry makes an Orange 10x, would you think this would be good or unnecessary to go that high in cold process soap. Just looking for your opinion. Thanks.
Hi Jerika You definitely inspire me. 😁 I have a very important question. I know you make request soaps. However, would you consider making soap for another brand. If so, how much would you charge the company per bar for labour if they provided all the raw materials, cured the bars, and labeled the bars themselves? That would be for a 100 bar order. I do hope you can assist me. Thank you for your time! 🤗
How does those essential oil perform in the cold processed soap making, does it accelerate trace (my wife is asking 😄) She recently got into making soap for home and out friends, but some of the oil she got from Amazon dont really work well in her soaps
I haven’t purchased from new directions yet and on the east coast. I notice Brambleberry is much more but closer for shipping. I have a question about the containers from new directions. On their site it states to store in glass containers. Are their containers glass or metal? And if metal, do you transfer your oils to glass?
Hey Jerika and Kale! I’m new to this channel, and so far I’ve been loving the content that the two of you post! I’m currently someone who’s been making soap and body scrubs for personal use, and I wanted your thoughts on something. From a business standpoint, is there a financial advantage in making essential oils in house versus purchasing them from a third-party? Especially if it involves making Cedarwood and similar conifer essential oils from scratch? Making everything from scratch has always been a part of my form of creation, but I have A LOT to learn about starting a soap business. 😅
Hi Gabriel!!! Welcome to the channel! Making your own essential oils sounds very cool! But from a business standpoint, you have to consider the time you’re putting into making them. Time is a very valuable currency and with my current business model I do not have the time to make my own essential oil. Now, if you think you can manage, I say 100% do it! It is definitely a selling point to be able to say you make your essential oils in-house.
@@JerikaZimmerman very solid points! I’ll definitely be considering this over the next few months while learning more as this whole process unfolds. And sorry for the delayed response. 😓

Adding bergamot or a touch of lemongrass oils are good with citrus. Also I do a citrus mint soap that’s pretty popular
That’s sounds like a good combo!

Bergamot should’ve earned a space in my honorable mentions! I do love it too!
I also order from them. 😊
Lavender is my favorite essential oil. When I saw the giant bucket in the video. I knew it was going to be lavender;)
Lavender is gentle on the skin as well
I love New Directions - I order the Lemongrass, a best seller for me. I also love their French Lavender fragrance oil.❤
