We all, 100%, need the process for your Krieg and Imperial Guard!
Would love to have a guide on those infantries too.
Looks fantastic great job please please do us an infantry guide, when I saw your army all laid out made me wanna start an imperial guard army really gives off the old 3rd edition rule book vibes love it
That's all the praise I can ask for! 3rd edition Guard armies are life
@@cultcommissions4722 Agreed love to see and hear how you painted your troops.
Am I the only wondering why thank looked quite bright then when he started chipping it was way darker? Did you apply an all over wash inbetween & not mention it? I’m Slightly confused.
I have the same question. Im trying to apply same colors but the result is brighter.
Really reminds off ww2 styles and the original imperial armour book, a font of phenomenal knowledge. But that aside, I'm loving your work!
Thanks very much. High praise to be compared to those books.
That is an awesome scheme right there
Thanks!
I'll join the masses and request an infantry guide!
Gorgeous work.... truly stunning and grim dark.
Thanks very much
Damm, would love to see an guardsmen guide from Ben aswell here in youtube.
Ben, big fan of your painting style for the Guard. It really gives that sense of gritty realism with, as you said, relatively simple techniques.
Thanks! It's been a bit of trial and error over the years but ultimately, the less is more approach wins!
Your Cadia scheme is on point !
Thanks!
awesome work I love this Paintstyle
Thanks
Definitely need to steal this method! I'd love to know how you did the infantry, too.
Steal away!
oop, really inspired by your krieg force. using gaunt and ursula as the bases for krieg HQ's is something I just... never thought of doing.
Glad it's inspired you, make your own and let us know how it goes.
Ben your guard look fantastic. I love the scheme you have on the tank, its impressive how well it could fit in with either army. Seeing people use these more scale modeling style techniques on warhammer is the best.
Need to see how you painted your Krieg and Cadians! Love the look!
Fantastic work. This is similar to how I paint realistic tanks for my 28mm ww2 games. When I first saw this tank, I wasn't a fan. But it looks way better without all of the additional weapons and so forth. I'd probably alter the tow hooks to be more like the loops found on WW2 German tanks only because they extend beyond the treads and would likely catch on obstacles.
Thankyou, it's an easy kit to strip down so very achievable. Good point about the tow hooks.
Positively outstanding work. Thank you.
What a fantastic video! Such a simple yet effective technique! I'm glad I found this!
What a fantastic video. Really well articulated. Thanks for taking the time to share
I’ve got an ancient guard army poorly painted when I were a kid, this video has inspired me to get an airbrush and to start building up new plastic kreig and repainting my tanks. Would love to see and infantry video.
Awesome as always. Learned something new. Hate painting tanks as you know. Still not finishing my LR from 6 years ago. Can't wait to see what you're going to paint next.
Very simple method but it looks great. Nicely done.
Looks fantastic. May use this scheme on my tanks.
You may have just sold me on this army, love the scheme, really hits all the notes that I love in a grimdark army
Thanks! The miniature range is perfect for using all these techniques to get that style
It's amazing how much better the Guard tanks look without the side sponsons.
Love what you've done with this mate, esp with how you have built the kit
Thanks mate appreciate it
I agree, the removal of some of the extra guns has really brought the tank to the next level
Looks fantastic!
While Guard-i-mean-Militarum does not take my heart much, I always learn so much from this channel! I'm inspired to pick up an airbrush to expand my techniques and help with completing my golden Necrontyr army!
Thankyou, I'm pleased you get so much from the videos. Keep us posted on how your Necrons go!
Thank you for sharing your methods. I think you achieve a lot, with a lot fewer steps than i anticipated. Hope we’ll see a guide for your cadian infantry soon! :)
soon!
A nice quick project/methods with superb results✌️👍😊
I've not painted military vehicles for years - I have a small train load to do, that are to be lightly weathered. I'd been putting it off, now I'm looking forward to it 💜👍😊😊
Good to hear it, keep us posted on how it goes.
@@cultcommissions4722 I'll do my best, thanks✌️🤞😄😊
Using this method to paint a Primaris army. Walking human tanks. Grimdark. Thanks for the guide!
Cool
Thanks for the tutorial! I would love to also see one for the Cadian infantry, or maybe you can tell us which colours you used :)
The Dorn tank which I've now nicknamed "POLO". the tank with a hole.
You have to give yours some turret art with the name on
Need infantry!!! Tell me how!!!
Looks amazing - Can I ask how you painted the gun metals on the gatling cannon and end of the main gun please? Is it just drybrishing a metal colour over the base colour?
oh grat now I have to start an guard army 😅Pile of shame INBOUND!
This looks amazing and with such simple techniques. I would love to see how you paint the infantry
Given the amount of requests it looks like an infantry tutorial is on the cards for the future
@@cultcommissions4722 A colour overview for the Cadians would also be enough for now. 🙏
pls do one for the infanterie, looks very good
Amazing job!
Whats the step you did to darken the whole mini after airbrushing but before chipping?
Thanks!
Have you used enamel washes in this? It looks like the sponge chipping step really grimed it up, or is there an enamel or oil here too?
Would love to know what paints you use on the tracks for that dark steel look!
Did you use a dremel to cut the winged scull off the front gun shield? Makes the dorn look so much better great idea!
Looks amazing
I used a small razor saw and filed the Aquila off, before smoothing it all down with fine grit sanding paper.
The tracks were simply Death Korps Drab as a basecoat, then add a little medium grey to that for a highlight
Really enjoyed the video. This is the best rogul dorn that I’ve seen yet. Did the kit come with those headlights for the tank in place of the small hill machine guns or was that all you?
Yes headlights are in the kit
Can you please create a guide for the infantry? I'd really appreciate it!
Really nice Ben, can we get a tut for the Cadian Troopers please? And is it right on the tank you didnt use a wash? Only Chipping on the Panals?
Yep it was just a few passes of the sponge weathering. You can drag the sponge down the model as well as dabbing it to get a streaked effect
Hi Ben, great video! Love efficient techniques and realistic looking finishes and this tank definitely ticks both boxes.
Some C&C for the video itself. Hope you don't mind.
- You speak relatively fast and especially for us non-native speakers, it might be beneficial to slow down a bit.
- There is some static or white noise in the background when you speak. Reminds me of an microphone boost being active; could be something else. Hopefully the overall sound quality will improve over time. Henry's and Andy's voice overs sound a little bit better.
Please do an infantry and sentinel guide using this scheme.
I like what you have done with that model. I also think that an anti mine roller or mine flail mounted on th ehull front would look good.
Prahaps for a specialist Engineering vehicle.
At some point I want to add a few logistical vehicles to my army so that may well happen
@@wolfshead1978 I was thinking about the WW2 flail tanks such as the Matilda Scorpion and the Sherman Crab
@@alanwadey2848 yep, they were grouped together under 79th Armoured Division "Hobart's Funnies" and saw very specific, and limited use. There is a very good reason that you don't see them fitted to modern Main Battle Tanks.
@@wolfshead1978 I am awarre ;-), however that doesn't make them any less striking in appearance. I do recall seeing US M1 MBT's fitted with anti mine roller at some point in the last 10-15 years though. Certainly a very specific solution to a very specific problem, but one not entirely without merit.
Hey man looks awesome! Have a favor to ask, could you give the specific measurements of its dimensions? I need:
-Height with the Turret
-Width (Without Sponsons)
-Length
I want to Loot a few for my orks and want to ensure it's close to the measurements of what I want to run it as. Thanks man!
Ben!!!!
It is me!
@@cultcommissions4722 it is! I recognise your mouth sounds and mad skills!!!
@@drewrussell3721 cheers mate, I do have recognisable mouth sounds.
Why would you go for a high contrast coloring on the panels, and then do the weathering in a realistic fashion? It goes against the three foot distance mindset and just makes it look messy.
Those decals are great ! I tried to print my own dkok ones but forgot that printers don’t print white. How do you get yours?
Pretty sure they are either on the new vehicle transfer sheet but you can also get them in the plastic krieg infantry box
This has to be the best looking Rogal Dorn Ive seen!
Where can I see more of the infantry at 0:38 that’s the exact greys I’m looking for my krieg.
Do you mind if I ask how the tracks were painted?
Bases look great on Krieg Infantry? Can you tell us how you achieved that? Drybrushed up from Grey and same piment weathering?
Thanks, they are simple gaming bases on these so It was a layer of AK interactive Muddy Ground texture paint, then the Light Sienna powder from this tutorial applied over the top
@@cultcommissions4722 thanks - great work. Inspiring
Dude show how u did the kriegsman paint job I've bought a bunch and have been waiting since tgis video came out come onnnnnnnn pllsssss
Same
@1elaleman1 I gave up waiting. Started my guys, they turned out fine. I couldn't replicate the color tho
What is that krieg commissar! What is that massive tank thing!
The Krieg commissar is then plastic Ibram Gaunt with a face swap. It arguably would have been easier to do a hat swap but I didn't think that through
The tank is the Minotaur from forgeword and its bloody enormous!
It’s looks awesome, but I do wish some of these videos would help people that don’t have access to air brushes.
Nice to see a mature armour model effect on a GW tank - what did you paint the wheels and tracks with?
Thanks, the tracks and wheels are painted with a Death Korps Drab basecoat, then highlighted with a mix of that plus a little bit grey.
@@cultcommissions4722 Interesting!
So good! Are you doing an infantry guide as well?
Yep!
@@cultofpaint Best way to start the weekend ☺️✌🏽
The color of the tank is more dark after. How you reach that result? Only with rinox hide?
Just the rhinox hide. Also the lighting varies a little between filming and photos.
hey just asking again lol, i will be annoying as i have to be, show the Kriegsman plsssssss
Infantry tutorial WHEN?
We promise Ben will get one done, but currently the Commissions Studio is very busy. As soon as we can free him up we will.
@@cultofpaintAny updates on that timeline? =)
I actually really like the Rogal Dorn, its different enough from the other tanks but still fits right in with the other tanks.
The RD is bit busy in its looks and I think it has a few too many guns. But the guns are well placed and enough of the extras can be removed to make it look goo. The Taurox is needless busy and the guns are poorly placed There is no saving the Taurox althou there are some conversion that make it less of an eyesore, I'm very happy to see that Gamesworkshop is going back in the right direction.
The RD is also bigger the a Russ and with stats to back it up, a great center piece for an army, especially for smaller games where you would never field a Baneblade(I so rarely field mine). Unlike the new sentinel which is bigger just for the sake of being bigger in the end that are just bigger targets when you want the enemy to ignore them. While the new models do look good and fit into the army range, I do like the look of the old ones better. The RD being bigger than a Russ can be used to draw in enemy fire where you want it while it has increased suitability.
All in all I think the RD is a big win compared to the last two vehicles released for the IG.
Can't believe you made that clown car look good.
Thanks! I might have to convert a crewman with a big clown wig now....
Do you ever have anyone complain about the missing sponsons? Assuming you add them to your sheet for the extra damage.
Collected guard since I got into warhammer when I was in primary school and I really dislike the new models but I think you stripped off most of the really terrible design from the new russ replacement, probably the best looking I have seen it (those stupid hull mounted nipple guns wtf).
I do prefer the stripped down version. With all the upgrades and extra weapon systems on its just too busy for me
Shame about the audio for an otherwise great video
What's wrong with the audio? seems good on my end
That's Just how Ben talks
@@Marlerc11 I hear hissing
well looks good but me i get rid of GW antnas and heat up some whier and add new ones the botem bit that does nor come thats a humm be fun to drop an RC car in thare an ues that well to RC it but might be bit mutch when get one got do it yes got do as camo how hide this its beon me may be light with no botem thing yes platic card wil do just my think on it
why does the model suddenly get darker at some point?
Spent all that time weathering a tank with a hole in the bottom
Yes I did
@@cultcommissions4722 great paint job. Terrible model
