- G'day Guys, This is the review of Harry... my 09 Suzuki Boulevard C50. This is not a technical review, but more of a personal review of riding it for the past 40,000kms. Hope you enjoy! :-) Cheers... Mark

what a great review!!!!! Bought myself a Boulevard, started with little adventures, bought a 3 men tent, packed the bike and camped down the coast, now I am planning the next adventure, cant stop riding the thing.....thank You Mark !!!!!!! from QLD !!
Great stuff Mario and Good Onya! :-)
Forgot to say... I’m in beautiful western North Carolina USA with beautiful twisty mountain roads. Biker’s paradise!
Hey Mark, I just bought a 2009 Boulevard C50T with 4400 miles. Thanks for the great review and vicarious adventure. Can’t wait to start putting the miles on mine!
i am in europe, got the same bike from 2009. i bought it last season, rided 7000 km, here in europe its called C800 or VL800 Intruder. This video shows me, you dont need a 1500ccm bike to get around with touring. Thanks for that nice informative story.
cheers from Austria/Vienna.
Riding a cruiser on dirt roads is not a very bright idea. The C50 is a pretty tough old bike that has been around for a very long time. All the kinks and quirks have been fixed over the years. I own one and the only thing I have ever done on it was change oil, filter, tires and adjust the valves. It runs like a dream and I plan on keeping her for a long time.
Just bought an ‘05 S50. Checking out every review video on these Suzuki’s.
This one is the best by far. Good work!
Thanks for your review. I just got my boulevard c50 a year ago, on my mom's bday, so Ludy she is. You showed me that I'm treating mine like a little girl and she will like to see the outdoors, and even better that she will not mind to let her have some fun and get dirty. I got it with 6k miles (some 9 k km) and I think I'll keep her for long time. I have in view some bikes to replace it but it might not be that soon. Thanks for making me discover the deep beauty in it
Thanks for the review on the Boulevard, I want to buy one and I have heard the drive shaft problem is common. I really enjoy your video's just a down to earth good bloke who enjoys riding adventures and your enthusiasm fir it is contagious.
Thanks for the video. This helped to to make choice for a first bike. I was originally going to get a honda shadow aero but after viewing your vid I am totally going to get the suzuki boulevard c50t. Can't wait to go riding.
Hey I notice this video is 2 years old. Might be time for an update of Km and mini review.
Thanks for your great video! What a great composition of shots, photographs, editing, and planning you did in here. Awesome bike! Awesome lifestyle!
I am deciding between Yamaha Bolt XV950 and Suzuki C50, and I like a lot more the look of C50. Nice Harry's mods.
Cheers from Mexico! You got a new subscriber :D
Man, that was awesome....I'm looking to get a 2008 C50T with low miles and thinking I want to do what you just videoed......much appreciated. I was hesitant on the engine size, coming off a 1200 Sporty...but this bike is exactly what I want! Thanks!:)
i looked at a S50 this past weekend and after watching this video im buying it ..thanks for the great review
Excellent review. I pick up my new C50 next week and now I know I made the right decision.
Im trading in one of my bikes and looking at the C50T or C90T. This is one of the best reviews of any motorcycle I’ve seen. Thanks for putting it out there and taking us for the ride.
Beware the C90's smaller tank. That, along with the larger engine and greater weight make for less range than the C50.
Great video mate.. loved it.. informative and entertaining, and reminds me of why I ride.. It's all about the overall experience, the relationship between rider and bike, the journey and the destination.
Exactly what i was looking for .. going to visit the showroom tomorrow for promotion. Cheers
Suzuki c50 here i come
Nice review. I’m inspired! I had a C50 that I bought new and rode for a couple years. It was my first motorcycle. I sold it 5 years ago and got a used C90 that I really like as well. Love your video.
Am thinking of purchasing an 09 the same is this and after watching this video I'm pretty mush sold, loved the video, was entertaining and honestly told me everything I needed to know, great work mate, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love my 06 c50t over here in the USA,tx just a little over 11,500 miles. I love this bike coming from sportbikes like the old nasty rc51, this bike is just fantastic with the fuel injection it is spot on. I have a lot of aftermarket parts like you. Cobra pipes, tune, kuyraken intake, 16"apes and mustang seat. I don't think I will ever let this beast go.
Absolutely great video. and Harry looks gorgeous also. Great camera shots of the country side and at the top of the mountain. I enjoyed it all. Ride safe.
Hey mate! Floridian here wishing to thank you for your video's, stumbling upon your channel/videos about your 09' Suzuki Boulevard C50T made me realize that I infact made a great impulse purchase of a 19' Suzuki Boulevard C50T. I also learned about buffeting and how to fix courtesy of your videos! So, much love and thanks from this silly Floridian with the same cruiser. Safe travels and take care! - Medium Sauce
You Aussies are so chilled out! Love this channel!!
Hey Mark, great review. If all reviews were like this, then we would all get the really useful knowledge we need which helps decide us if the bike is right for us. Without intending to, I think you've given me a great insight into the quality of Suzuki's design. How its survived some of the shit you've put it through, and to be still performing !00% is enough of a recommendation for me. Many thanks from a Pommie!
Love you're videos mate, straight to the point. Iv got a VL1500 it's like a tractor, you convinced me on the c50 boulevard. Keep up the great work, love from England 👍🏼
G'day Guys, here's the "Harry" review! Nothing too technical, just an overview and my personal thoughts on him. Hope you enjoy! :-) Cheers... Mark
Thanks been thinking of buying one (I'm in the UK, known as the vl800/c800 I believe) just one question. Were the valves that loud from new? And have you had the valve clearances done at all? Thanks
Gratulálok a túrához! Én Magyarországon élek és nekem is Suzuki VL 800C van a tulajdonomba. Itt is nagyon elégedettek vagyunk vele!
I'm a firm believer that Australians are the craziest bunch! Your adventures are awesome! I just got a Suzuki boulevard s50. And I couldn't come close to treating it like that in the states. Lets me know I got a good runner. Keep it up bro!
Great video, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing pictures of your bike and especially, your country. It looks much different than where I live in Florida.
God created such a beautiful world!
Enjoy that coffee!
Loved your review. I had a m90 a few years ago but looking at the c50. You sold me on it, nice vid
Cheers mate😎
Your review convinced me to buy my c50t this year, and i'm loving it! Bought it august 1st and already got 2600 miles on it.
G'day mate, great stuff and good onya! :-) Cheers... Mark
Do you still have your c50 in 2021
love your vid my friend thank you for this I'm after buying a Suzuki intruder VL800 next year.
Greetings from Canada and a fellow "Harry" owner. Wanted to say how much I enjoyed your video. Great work and thanks for sharing.
Living life at the fullest, good for you! The c50 will get you there, I have one too, perfect day!
Well done and well said Mark, it's all about the bond between a person and their bike with two wheels travellin' down the road :) timeless.
G'day , thanks for your review. I'm actually thinking about getting the C50 also. Look like you had a good time with yours 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome down to earth review. Have been looking into picking one up.
When I first started watching I was like "There's no way I'm gonna watch this whole hour long video" welp I did. Really well put together video!
That would have to be the best review I've seen in a long time, bloody entertaining! You're a real Aussie in the true sense of the word and I found that very informative because you covered all the good stuff that we all want to know. Also taking us with you sitting down at the top of the hill and having a coffee was awesome. I bought the C50 boulevard about a month ago and absolutely love it and it's great to see that the bike can handle a lot more than I first thought. Nice work mate.
G'day Drew, thanks heaps mate... I appreciate the comments and good onya with your new Boulevard! :-) Cheers... Mark
Biker Bits No worries mate, I've subscribed now and watching all your other vids, some great tips in there. I'm looking forward to getting some of the accessories too. I live in Airlie Beach flying the seaplanes around the Whitsunday Islands and have just started to venture out to some of the back roads on the C50 and it's brilliant. Thumbs up!
On ya mate! That was unreal. I’m just about to go from an M50 09 model to a 2015 C50 with only 4K on the clock. It looks shmick, I think I’ll call ( her ) Megean seeing that you’ve got Harry . Can’t wait to start the long trips from Sydney to wherever. Cheers
It’s one of the best reviews I have seen on C50
Hi mark, without a doubt my favorite video you have done yet!...dont think that your boring to listen to and watch man, if people think that then dont bloody watch then right!...so, the bike is just awesome man...i just bought a m50 used with only 6700 miles and i cant wait to get out on it, but here in the us, pa to be exact, its around 10-20 degrees!....yikes, anyway man please keep doing what your doing cause at least one guy you can bet on loves watching!....thanks man!....
We watched this as a 2 part video lol, Beautiful bike and the views were just amazing. That's a lot of kms to cover with the DR650 down there :) laughed when you took the apple. We love finding new lookouts when we explore, and bring some green tea and a bit of honey to sweetened it. You didn't bore us one bit, great video and a great way to somewhat visit Australia since we can't be there. Thank you again.
G'day guys, thanks heaps! Cheers... Mark
Just purchased my second Suzuki C50, another 2019 model. The first one was also a 2019 but the full-dress C50T which has the saddlebags. windscreen, etc. It was a great bike but I'm more of a purist and, thus, wanted to return to a Plain Jane. Now I'm once again a happy camper. Suzuki C50's are great motorcycles. Happy Trails, my friends.
I have had one for two years. It is wonderful and easy to maintain. The only thing I would want would be ABS as in the region in Thailand we live in there is sand and rain on the roads. I would have paid more if there were model with ABS.
Australians have a whole different meaning of cruising, when I had my sport bike I would never get in on dirt, now that I am getting this bike I was saying yay I can get it on dirt here in Texas hill country... while this guy takes it way off road... RESPECT!
A truly informative video as you stated correctly and boy what a view! I was considering buying a C800 and your contribution convinced me to make the final step. Now I need a name for it due to you😂 Kindest regards from the Netherlands.Tony
Happy 40,000th anniversary harry, keep on cruising. 🏍🎁🎈🎉🍰🙂
Great video Mark, I saved this and watched it on the big screen, very enjoyable and well over due! Keep them coming buddy, RSM8.
G'day Skeggy, thanks mate! Cheers... Mark
love your vids mate just picked up my 2012 c50t the other day beautiful bike.
G'day Rodney, thanks mate and great to hear you love the bike :-) Cheers... Mark
Best video review I have seen online ... thanks so much. Have been considering this bike, and you just about convinced me. LOL
Really enjoyed the bike review, I was not familiar with the C50 at all. It seems to be about the size of my sportster 883. Also, the ride to the mountain and scenic overlook was awesome! Beautiful country there! Your videos are always fantastic! Keep up the great work!
+Trevor Jameson Thanks Trevor! :-)
You are a legend for taking this THIC BOI of a bike offroad
Great practical review! Honest and pure. Thx mate!
+Cesar Recinos - My pleasure! :-)
Great video, very entertaining. It was a pleasure watching your work. The c50 is a great bike!
I just bought an ‘89 Suzuki 750 intruder . Always wanted one , just love . Never wanted a Harley. Always dreamed about the original 750 Intruder .Been riding Suzukis since 1971.
Excellent!! I want to buy one, but needed to check it out first. You did a nice job of sharing "Harry". Thanks
Great video. I bought a 2005 Suzuki C50T with only 7,000 miles on it about 4 years ago for only $4,000 USD. Best purchase I ever made. I have added a few accessories like driving lights, Cobra pipes and a Mustang seat and it is more comfortable than a lot of bigger touring motorcycles. It has plenty of power and torque for me. The only thing I wish it had was anti-lock brakes and cruise control. Ride safe.
FYI: my '05 had a recall to reroute some wiring to avoid chafing. '05 was the first year of the Boulevard refresh if their cruiser line.
I’ve got a 2003 intruder Lc1500 just rebuilt the carbs and it’s great so far! Great video mate great info!
The Lounge Chair
I love Australia and I've never been there. Thank you Mark for showing your beautiful country . This is a great video, I like the flash back clips, perhaps an entire video of mini clips of, funny ,bad, good ,and neat scenes from your past videos would be cool ,oh yeah and Harry is a winner lol. Dave .
G'day mate, thanks and yeah I should do the flash back video... just need the time to compile it :-) Cheers... Mark
Loved the video Mark. Nice job as always. Cheers from Wisconsin.
G'day mate, thanks! :-) Cheers... Mark
Great and thorough review! Thanks!
This is a great video, really, really enjoyed it and helped me make the final decision. I was just in the cycle shop today looking at the C50 and the new Bolt. I had a 2001 Volusia (VL800) which is the father of the C50, and I loved it - moved to a Harley, then sold that and looking to get back on the road with something smaller and less work. I loved my VL800, but was taken by the slick style of the Bolt. After watching this video, I'm going back to the dealer and signing for that 2013 C50 - I can't wait to see where she'll take me, but this is inspiring - thanks for an awesome video!!
G'day mate, thanks heaps... much appreciated! :-) Cheers... Mark
one of the best videos i have seen!
Have the same bike also had the drive shaft fail. Was told factory did not grease components when in production. Same price to fix, was told was good forever now. Love my bike, put Unique Cycle Sounds amp and speakers on, love my tunes. Think I'll be riding this one until I can't do two wheels any more.
That was great Mark, this video sums up the reason I subscribed in the 1st place. Harry, you, tips about pleasures on the road (coffee, cooking, camping ) and all at a low cost. Showing the fun you can have, with out the big expence. I do the same thing here in Newcastle at Mt Sugaloaf. A great view, Fanchessca (Monster), me and sometimes my wife, a cuppa tea with some Arnott's Scotch Finger or Tim Tams mmmm. : )
G'day mate, thanks heaps! Cheers... Mark
They were having trouble with the shafts, some friends were taking them apart and finding out there was next to no lube on some, so started just taking them apart for people and lubing them up real good and have had no problems with the ones the lubed up. So good idea to check them out to be on the safe side. I did have two and never a problem with them. and put a lot of miles on the first one and gave the second one to my sun who is still riding it.
Great review mate, am seriously thinking of a mid size cruiser, I've had big cruisers and midsize vulcan 900,never had boulevard c50, might be time to try one 👍🎄👌
Loved the review mate. Spot on. I'll do a review like this on my bike one day. She's my first bike and despite being a LAMS model I don't have any intention of getting rid of her yet. I've got 52,000 trouble free kms from new with so many memories that I simply don't want to get rid of like my trip around Tasmania.
G'day mate, thanks and yeah they really grow on you :-) Cheers... Mark
VL800 / C50 is a superb bike.. I bought a 2009 model the same year, the only issue I had was a loose connection to the speedometer (fixed during regular service maintenance). Otherwise, the bike ran perfectly fine, having provided me with some 70k km of pure joy. I still pity the fact I had to sell it in 2020.
Last year I bought an older model (a 2003 one - carbureted), with a few inexpensive fixes (exhausts mounting system change) & minor visual updates (changing the turn signals, replacing passenger footpegs for floorboards, etc..), it was still perfectly fine. The big maintenance (in my favourite service shop) cost only 200 EUR (yet, tires need to be changed this season). And yes, the bike runs perfectly fine, despite being ~20 years old.
Right now I'm riding the C90T (a 2007 model - I gave the 2003 VL800 to my GF to ride it), but I'm already squinting at a few VL800sfor sale, as for me, this 805ccm beast is a much better bike than its bigger brother - easier to manipulate on the spot, easier to handle in city traffic, more suitable for daily commuting, easier & cheaper to maintain.. Yeah, I think I found the love of my life in this bike.
BTW the lubrication issue is typically related to shops NOT doing the pre-sales checks & maintenance thoroughly, as the lubriciation of the shaft drive is listed there (at least here in the EU) - but yes, I agree, not putting in a little bit of (if I'm not mistaken) lilthium grease at the factory is just non-sensical.
LbnL a very nice video 🙂
Ride hard & ride safe.
Mark thanks so much mate! I am a year in on my VL250 and looking for the next step up. Not any more. I knew I wanted a cruiser, looking at all the mid sized bikes narrowing my choices down to the M90, 50, C90 or 50. Mate your video has made my selection so damn easy. Going with the C50 - VL800. A straight forward review. Bloody sensational. Thanks again for sharing. Off to TeamMoto tomorrow. :-).
G'day Steve, no worries mate was my pleasure :-) Cheers... Mark
Iv'e got a 1998 Suzuki Indtruder...1400...best bike ive ever owned...It got stolen in San Francisco....found by my wife 2 weeks later in the Tenderloin...I was so happy. It took a bit to fix but i nutured her back to health...Still riding her....
Gday Mark, just got back tonite from echuca, bloody great spot to spend 4 days with the goldwing club, for the agm, thanks for you great video as usual bloody fantastic, Harry is very cool, Dave
G'day Dave, yeah Echuca is a bloody good spot! Thanks! :-) Cheers... Mark
thank you for this video. i recently bought a Suzuki Marauder m50 , a pretty similar bike, and have been wondering about its limitations on gravel and mountains. i was hoping to use it on camping trips, but didn't know if it would handle well in some of the out of the way places i was hoping to go. seeing what you are riding it on has alleviated my doubts.
Nice Video. I have always loved Suzuki. Had my 1st one @ 5yrs old ! Be safe and as you say Keep on Riding !!
G'day mate, thanks mate! Cheers... Mark
Bloody great vid. Thanks Marko. Good on ya.
Howdy Mark
Thanks for a real user review. I was considering purchasing this bike, and you convinced me it won't be a mistake. Definitely buying it now, and looking forward to cruising our little island that might just give your country a run for the money in scenery and "twistys".
Cheers
Al
G'day Alan, thanks mate and good onya! :-) Cheers... Mark
Good work mate . i picked up a vl 800 6mths ago, great bike
I remember it well!
Right around the time it was rolling 19000 miles. I felt it jumping on the ride home from work.
I got home and googled it and it's all over the Volusia forums about 19000 miles and the shaft failing.
And like you it was a big selling point for me I bought it brand new. 100,000 miles, no maintenance. Nothing in the manual.
But love my M50.
Mines black and white and I just put a batwing on. Good little bike.
19000 miles, about 30000 kilometers. No coincidence mate!
Hello Mark, I want to say that I enjoyed your video very much! Next saturday I'm going for a test drive on a new Intruder C800B (type here in the Netherlands), wich I like to buy. You've helped me a lot with your personal advice, very convincing and entertaining!! I hope that I'm going to have such a great time with mine too. Best regards, Guud
G'day mate, thanks and good luck on Saturday! :-) Cheers Mark
thank you from Saudi Arabia. really enjoyed the video 👍 keep riding
Really enjoyed this review thanks mate! Thinking about getting this bike 😁
Thanks Mark. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. Quintessential Aussie. Mate you could be the next Leyland Bros.
Love the video, I have been looking at these bikes but now have to look into the drive shaft issue , buy the way I'm into gardening indoors and outdoors and know that there are a lot of plants, shrubs and trees have sap that is poisonous make sure you know for sure if a plant is safe before using it !
A counter anecdote: my '05 C50 has 44,000 miles on it. Mostly on road, all weather in all seasons. I give 'er all she's got plenty. No driveshaft issues.
Couldn't help but watch the whole thing!
Thanks Mark.
:-) Cheers... Mark
Nice. I need to make a trip like that soon... there's too much city around here.
This is an excruciatingly thorough record of your trips on the C50. Thank God you didn't have a dump.
GREAT VID! I'M DOING FLORIDA TO ALASKA ON THE 2005 C50. IT'S A SOLID BIKE,NEVER MISSES A LICK! RIDE SAFE AND ALL THE BEST.PATRICK-FLORIDA,USA
Patrick O'Donnell , how was the trip? I'm planning a trip for the spring from Delaware to Kentucky. How did the bike hold up?
Excellent review mate. 1st class!!! Thanks.
Thanks Ian! :-)
G'day Mark, great name btw :)
Loved ur video mate, found it while searching for info on the mid range Suzzie's.
I'm glad I did and subbed right away, it's nice to see local content for sure.
Really enjoyed your style and content but what impressed me even more is the extra effort you put in to make the final video more entertaining and engaging for the viewer.. for instance... setting up the camera down the hill and climbing back up to get that in the climb down the rocks.. Also the extended side shots while riding, you have gone to a lot of effort to make it all look more professional after the final edit.
Well done champ, I look forward to meeting up some day, I'm not that far from you.
Mark.
Oh and give my regards to Harry, he's a trouper! :)
G'day Mark, thanks heaps mate and great to hear you enjoyed the video :-) Cheers... Mark
Love your video and review thanks! I have an 06 C50 and I love it! So much fun and reasonable to ride.
G'day mate, thanks heaps and good onya! :-) Cheers... Mark
Great vid as always Mark, and amazing mileage from those tires. I can't recall ever getting more than 6000 miles out of a rear tire, and it looked like those still had some good life left in them. You struck quite the manly pose on top of the mountain at 35:44, btw. LOL
G'day mate, yeah Joe just mentioned the tyres too and I double checked my figures and it should have been 21,130 kms (what a dick head) Sorry! Cheers... Mark
Your review was entertaining. Thank you, the view fantastic. Greetings from Florida, United States.
Thanks heaps mate! :-)
Biker Bits....Hello, good video. I have a 2006 C50 but the only thing I could never get used to were the foot controls (floorboards and toe heel shifter) so I'm swapping them out for a set of M50 foot controls (pegs and toe shifter). That should do it for me...
I love the heel shifter. I can wear polished dress shoes to business meetings.
That was a great review. I enjoyed seeing the bike going beyond asphalt roads. Here in USA many will scream in disbelief but cruisers are good for dirt roads too. Obviously not really bad ones but transitable ones. My C50T looks just like Harry. I also have an S40 which is a smaller one but powerful too for the freeway. You should do a longer composite of different trips to see Harry in action.
+arturothecook Thanks heaps mate! :-)
We absolutely love Suzuki, price is always right and easy maintenance for the most part and long lasting. We'd much rather spend the time on the road then in the garage fixing the bike all the time like other brands :) We completely agree with you on the speeding, very well said. We had a Suzuki Boulevard S83 2 years ago and then upgraded to the Suzuki Bandit 1250s and now my DR650 along with my wife's DR200. Great video as always Mark, hope you have a marvelous day :) T4S
G'day mate, great stuff and thanks! :-) Cheers... Mark
Another great video Mark! Picturace roads , scenery & review of 'Harry' (Suzuki Boulevard C50) .I can see 'Harry' being around for many more adventures in the far future. I thought you were actully going to eat the (freshly picked) apple & tell us how it tasted.? Great vid Mark ,I could of watched more ,but I know all good things must come to a end .Quinn.
G'day Quinn, thanks mate and yeah Harry will have plenty more adventures with me, that's for sure! Sorry about the apple :-) I should have done that!! Cheers... Mark - PS it tasted great :-)
Hi Mark, I've got an 09 C50 as well, but it's only got 6000k on the clock, I don't get out as much as you,
but I really enjoy when I do.
Your review was fantastic, non scripted, which makes it better.
I live at Endeavour Hills, near Dandenong Melbourne. Theres lots of hills and windy roads around.
Might start taking the gear to make coffee, instead of buying it all the time. Looks like you enjoyed it.
Cheers. Shayne......
G'day Shayne, great to hear mate and thanks! :-) Cheers... Mark
Maaaate - thanks for the bloody excellent review.
Great video mate, thank you. I’ve been looking for a new bike and I am taking a 2009 C50 (23,000k’s, windshield, floorboards, highway pegs, in great condition) for a test ride in a few days and have been doing a lot of research on a few different bikes. This video has really helped in my decision making and if the bike feels good for me on the test ride i think my search will be over.
It’ll be my first cruiser as I’ve always been on sports bikes, but I’m ready to make the change as I’m 41 now and my missus has always hated riding on the back of the sports bikes so this will give us the opportunity to go on some good rides together.
One question though - how much did the new seat and pillion footboards set you back and do you still have the same set up? I think that’d add some real comfort for my missus, plus I’ve ridden my father in laws Harley Davidson 48 Special and he has a similar set up and I love the back rest for the rider.
Do you also have any recommendations for luggage bags and how much can you comfortably carry on the luggage rack?
Anyway, thanks again for the great content!
awesome review! thanks
As always Mark a very entertaining video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences on Harry. Great to see him off road as well! I am curious as to where your next big ride will be? What a place for a coffee! Cheers
G'day mate, thanks and my pleasure! :-) Nothing planned at this stage but have some ideas on the table. Cheers... Mark
