    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  Před rokem +1

      You don’t want to use copper grease in the slides, just around the pads where the touch the calliper. Copper slip isn’t actually a lubricant but an anti-seize compound. In the slide you usually want to be using silicone or rubber grease

      @@186scott I use it around the ears of the pads but some mechanics argue you shouldn’t use it at all. Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than nothing, but there are much better things to use on the slides. I do use it on calliper pins though which some people call slides as the pad itself slides on them, but the actual slides with the rubber boots on, I use silicone grease.

    Did pads and discs on my c1 from new after about 40 or 50 thousands miles, I think it was, mine had a worse lip than yours, and more rust, so replaced, rather than grinding, but next time I service mine, If needed will bring the lip and rust, obviously only a limited number of times this can be done before the m.o.t tester notices they are below the minimum thickness for the brake discs, but out of interest, what grade was the flap disc you used in your angle grinder? 40, 80 grit etc? Did the self tapper sloppy knob fix and feels so much better changing gears now, not like stirring soup.

    • @StupidBlokeStupidVideos
      @StupidBlokeStupidVideos  Před 2 lety +1

      Yea if the discs are thin then it’s probably not a great idea, I didn’t measure these as could see that there was plenty on them, but as for the MOT discs have to be ridiculously thin/on the verge of breaking to fail for thickness/wear unless they have cracks in pretty much lol. They can pass MOT way below manufacturers recommend minimum thickness. I used 80 grit pad but it took a while. The gearstick fix is actually one one of best things I’ve done on this car! Lol

      Had that happen to my 07 plate c1, and actually lost the electric power steering, so was hard to drive, I just unplugged the ECU, left for a few minutes, plugged back in, and light went off, power steering back working fine, and had no problems ever since. When the light was on, I plugged in my Delphi ds150 vci and laptop, and real live data showed a few strange things, like it being left hand drive etc🤣, so guess the ECU got confused, and just needed disconnecting and rebooting.
