You can find the link to download the HST cheat sheet in this post all about HSTs here -- prettysimplesa... Here's more about the quilt - prettysimplesa...
Thankyou for sharing.Im watching this video from SriLanka.Sometime back I sew a cushion cover 16" square using HST squares and got fed up trying to measure what size the initial square should be.Though I succeeded,Im delighted with this video.❤
HST's take wayyyy too long to make. The best way to make them, and I have tried ALL the ways, is with a program called *"Triangulations"*, which empowers you to print your own HST grid papers on your home computer. You sew up many multiples at once, they are fast, dead accurate, easy. The program is available from Bear Paw Productions.
They are machine specific so they fit up close to your machine. Sometimes manufacturers make them, but SewSteady.com makes them for all kinds of machines (you specify your brand and model) and have been around a long time. 🙂
@@prettysimplesara Yes. But I was joking about a twin size. I want to do imitate old Christian art. I'm going to do it over time as I accumulate scraps.
Use a washable Crayola marker to draw lines. It doesn't cause any drag on the fabric. 1/4" seam tape is much cheaper and way more accurate than painters tape 🤦♀️
@@hugg724 I’ve tried the 1/4” tape and found the painter’s tape method to be far quicker, easier, and more accurate. Very inexpensive too. To each his own, I guess! Whatever works. 🙂
What are you talking about? Masking tape is $1 and it's probably already in the house somewhere making it free. And the line tape isn't accurate if you don't have it on perfectly straight.
Me either because to sew straight keeping your eye on the line as the square feeds through, you have to sew SO SLOWLY it’s defeats the purpose of drawing the line. I just make my squares slightly bigger then square them up, or more often, use the make 4 or 8 at a time
It’s really that different for you? Huh! It’s just as fast for me. Have you ever sewn using tape for your edge of fabric for regular seam? Not negating your experience, just trying to understand so I can help others the best. @@janinenankervis9477
Wow. I know I don’t get my diagonal seam tape straight. This is great. I’ll be using painters tape from now on and drawing the line!! Thanks so much.
Brilliant! After first time sewing HSTs never wanted to do it again. Until now! Thanks so much for tutorial.
You are so welcome!
If you cut your squares about 1/16” larger than what the chart calls for, your HSTs will be slightly oversized and can then be trimmed to perfection.
Yup, the chart has two sets of measurements so you can decide to trim or not. 🙂
This is a simple and brilliant idea!!! Thank you! ❤
I just explain, I didn’t invent (it’s one of those osmosis things) but I’m so glad it is helpful!
Thank you, Sara! Drawing those lines is tedious and its not easy to be accurate.
Great video! Thank you!❤😊
You are so welcome!
This is genius and a huge time saver!!Thanks for this video!
Glad it helped!
Nice trick DEPENDS ON SEWING TABLE GOING TO THE FLAT OF THE MACHINE.
Yes-depends on how big your square is whether it fits on the sewing machine table.
🕺 happy dance, what a time saver. 😊
It really is!
Great idea!! Thanks for the information!
You are so welcome!
Other than new quilters, I'm shocked this isn't the standard for everyone.
Well, I’m here for the new quilters. 🙂

Yes, I do need the line! I have an eye situation that I was born with - I cannot see 3D!!!
Well then you keep that line! Use a nice soft pencil or oen to mark it though 🙂
Brilliant is what i say too. 🎉
Thank you for the video 😊
My pleasure 😊
Are those large flat desk-like surfaces that extend out from your sewing machine manufacturer-specific or can I buy any kind? What are they called?
They are machine specific so they fit up close to your machine. Sometimes manufacturers make them, but SewSteady.com makes them for all kinds of machines (you specify your brand and model) and have been around a long time. 🙂
Oh, because of this video i see of yours, I'm going to end up doing the most difficult quilt for my first quilt. 🤣
I don't even know what an hst is.
No!!! 😂. But really, start small even if it’s an easy one 🙂
Oh, and half square triangle. 😉
@@prettysimplesara Thank you. So, small, like twin bed size?
@@tabandken8562 are you going to quilt it yourself?

Do you mean the tape with all the lines? I don’t understand how those line are more accurate than drawing a line?

Cool! 😊
I don't dig my fabric when I draw the line maybe thats where your problem is.
That doesn't work for me😢😢😢

No one draws lines like that, get real!
