What is so puzzlingly is the way Candace is being attacked for her beliefs and what she wants to do with her filming career. While every other group is asking for the same freedom, that they are trying to take away from her. . She doesn’t have like or make exceptions for others beliefs as vice versa. Exactly I'm so tired of some people trying to stop people from living their truth because they want to be validated in there decision to live a certain way. While I completely understand, it's the fact that Candace is dog whistling with malicious intent by invoking the term "traditional marriage" that's the crux of the problem.
I agree EXCEPT when those thoughts lead to harmful behavior. We all have seen how certain words, phrases, and ideologies promoting a white heteronormative society can endanger the lives of anyone who doesn't fit under the "traditional" umbrella. And using the word "traditional" signifies that anything else is not normal, is alternative, is unacceptable. I am totally fine if she doesn't want to accept work that promotes gay marriage because it goes against her conservative Christian beliefs. This may be controversial to say but I would almost (ALMOST) be okay with them creating a channel featuring white heteronormative Christian relationships, if they simply stated it that way. However, that would still be a danger to society. Nothing good comes from being siloed into a group that holds power. White heteronormative (Christian) relationships are not a minority in this country or the world. They are the norm for a reason. It is the default in America. Most programming in America defaults to this relationship type. It's only in recent years that we've started to feature other types of people, relationships and families as the headlining story. White heteronormative Christian marriage isn't at risk of becoming extinct from US programming. I have no problem with anyone for providing conservative Christian content. Part of demonstrating and representing diverse ideas and beliefs includes incorporating those that are not your own. I can accept that we need to tell stories that are different than mine. Heck, I'm not Christian or conservative but I do watch a lot of Christmas movies that do tend to historically feature lots of white heterosexual couples. I love listening to Christmas music sung by Christian choirs. Some of my favorite holiday songs are the ones with more Christian lyrics. I even work for a Christian nonprofit organization that likes to pray over meetings and meals. I'm very open minded. But at some point, we have to take a stand. Creating a channel that features "traditional marriage" isn't on the same level of need or urgency as creating a channel that features Black stories or Indigenous stories or LGBTQ+ stories. Although, we will have truly evolved if all channels provided equal air time to all stories. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch anything that goes against your belief but it should be made available and accessible to those who do want this content. We're not there yet. Again, I can respect her for wanting to work on acting projects that go with her beliefs, and I can understand why she would choose to align herself as a creative director of a new channel that will only feature traditional marriage, but there's a responsibility to society that we can't escape. I think this is where we fail sometimes as individuals, balancing our own individual beliefs with the needs of society. It's not always about you, the individual, it's about the greater good. The cop out that the new channel will work with people of all types both in front of and behind cameras is just BS. Again, no problem with her picking her own projects to suit her own ideals. And I never had a problem with a Christian television network. It's the specificity regarding "traditional marriage" that for me reads a lot like "white heteronormative relationships". Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this channel will feature black heteronormative relationships or Asian heteronormative relationships. But, still, something wrong about excluding a whole bunch of relationship types. It gets kind of murky when it's this specific. It's not even niche because, again, heterosexual relationships aren't in the minority at all!!! If you assess the content that exists on TV, in films, and streaming platforms, heterosexual relationships are featured prominently.

However when it comes down to the truth, people have a difficult time grasping it because it goes against their standards. But what I have learned is that not everyone that is in your circle upholds what you believe, there may be certain layers that appeal to them but that does not mean that they chosen for you. They aren't really sisters. They were a good facsimile on a show, but they have very different backgrounds and beliefs. The problem is the way "traditional marriage" is being used incorrectly. What she really means is straight marriage. Traditional marriage can refer to cultures, ways of life, and even just taking family vacations twice a year. Family vacations are still considered as traditional and society centers around this ideal, but very few people can take even one 14-day vacation. Everyone's doing the staycation.

While I completely understand, it's the fact that Candace is dog whistling with malicious intent by invoking the term "traditional marriage" that's the crux of the problem.
I agree EXCEPT when those thoughts lead to harmful behavior. We all have seen how certain words, phrases, and ideologies promoting a white heteronormative society can endanger the lives of anyone who doesn't fit under the "traditional" umbrella. And using the word "traditional" signifies that anything else is not normal, is alternative, is unacceptable. I am totally fine if she doesn't want to accept work that promotes gay marriage because it goes against her conservative Christian beliefs. This may be controversial to say but I would almost (ALMOST) be okay with them creating a channel featuring white heteronormative Christian relationships, if they simply stated it that way. However, that would still be a danger to society. Nothing good comes from being siloed into a group that holds power. White heteronormative (Christian) relationships are not a minority in this country or the world. They are the norm for a reason. It is the default in America. Most programming in America defaults to this relationship type. It's only in recent years that we've started to feature other types of people, relationships and families as the headlining story. White heteronormative Christian marriage isn't at risk of becoming extinct from US programming. I have no problem with anyone for providing conservative Christian content. Part of demonstrating and representing diverse ideas and beliefs includes incorporating those that are not your own. I can accept that we need to tell stories that are different than mine. Heck, I'm not Christian or conservative but I do watch a lot of Christmas movies that do tend to historically feature lots of white heterosexual couples. I love listening to Christmas music sung by Christian choirs. Some of my favorite holiday songs are the ones with more Christian lyrics. I even work for a Christian nonprofit organization that likes to pray over meetings and meals. I'm very open minded. But at some point, we have to take a stand. Creating a channel that features "traditional marriage" isn't on the same level of need or urgency as creating a channel that features Black stories or Indigenous stories or LGBTQ+ stories. Although, we will have truly evolved if all channels provided equal air time to all stories. Nobody is forcing anyone to watch anything that goes against your belief but it should be made available and accessible to those who do want this content. We're not there yet. Again, I can respect her for wanting to work on acting projects that go with her beliefs, and I can understand why she would choose to align herself as a creative director of a new channel that will only feature traditional marriage, but there's a responsibility to society that we can't escape. I think this is where we fail sometimes as individuals, balancing our own individual beliefs with the needs of society. It's not always about you, the individual, it's about the greater good. The cop out that the new channel will work with people of all types both in front of and behind cameras is just BS. Again, no problem with her picking her own projects to suit her own ideals. And I never had a problem with a Christian television network. It's the specificity regarding "traditional marriage" that for me reads a lot like "white heteronormative relationships". Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this channel will feature black heteronormative relationships or Asian heteronormative relationships. But, still, something wrong about excluding a whole bunch of relationship types. It gets kind of murky when it's this specific. It's not even niche because, again, heterosexual relationships aren't in the minority at all!!! If you assess the content that exists on TV, in films, and streaming platforms, heterosexual relationships are featured prominently.

But what I have learned is that not everyone that is in your circle upholds what you believe, there may be certain layers that appeal to them but that does not mean that they chosen for you. I'm the only Christian in my family. I live alone, thank goodness (I could never live with them permanently). Anyway, I've unfollowed many family members because of either their language, posting filth, or drama... but I won't delete them because, even though I can't see their swearing or drama etc, I still wants THEM to my Devotionals and Bible Studies I'm always putting up.
I didn't see this video, but no doubt Candace was right in whatever she said. Homosexuality is a sin in God's eyes, and I'm obviously glad she stood for her beliefs, and unfollowing was no doubt a good thing, but I hope she didn't delete her.
