Well mate that was first class. Ever part of video was so clear an very well explained. The last time I played with brake shoes was in the early 70s..But the only thing missing is how to adjust brake shoes to the drum .There used to be holes with a grommet in you could take out and using a screwdriver adjust them perfectly. How does the shoes self adjust to the drum..

Mate, $150-$250 to do a brake job at a garage, I rang one mob just for curiosity, $600 bucks Min, then the shop talk ABS etc, he finished with around $1200-1500 but that also depended on the model! They would have installed all the cheapest generic parts and tell the 'Customer' they used genuine parts! Thanks mate, for your vids, & uga duga, no need for a tourque wrench

Hi Mate, good to see Aussie blokes on you tube. Working on this identical Suzuki, just up to 100k, ,2015 model), is it necessary to replace timing chain, also cooling expansion tank is always at half level, no obvious external signs of coolant leakage or overheating, with cooler climate in Melb, temp gauge always shows good (half guage), any advice
    Thanks,
    Jerry

      Cheers JP for watching
It is best to replace the timing chain if needed .they generally don't brake but the adjuster wears out
Sounds like the header tank / overflow bottle is working fine if it's running hot from time to time or to cold change the thermostat
      Hope it helps

Did you just turn the handbrake lever down? Or do also have to loosen up the cable?

Try looking under the right back floor trim that's where all the wires run sometimes the wire might brake just re join them if so
Or replace the both right and left side the new ones always come with ready fitted brackets
      Hope that helps

Hoping someone can help me - the girlfriend had her Swift in for an MOT and Service recently, the print out after the service said the rear drum brakes weren't inspected.
Should they have been? I'd have assumed a service would need to check the brakes regardless of if they are discs or drums.

    • @grumpysgarage4387
      @grumpysgarage4387  Před 9 měsíci

Cheers most times service will check the handbrake adjustment,
The back breaks don't work 50.50 with front brakes some vehicles are 80.20 so no drama if they're worn-out

Take the cap of the brake master cylinder under the bonnet it .
Or the rubber boots covers might need replacing on the slave cylinder
