Dostoevsky's Demons 14: The Murder of Shatov

Shatov is the nationalist of the story, and he is murdered. This video concerns his conversion to Christianity, brought on by the return of his estranged wife and her birth to a child; Shatov seems committed to establishing a new path as he will take custody of the child. Just as he announces this intention, the representative of the murderous gang arrives to take him to his doom. This murder is how Pyotr Stepanovich gets the ultimate submission from the intellectuals--as they are compromised in their guilty activity. Shatov's murder seems to close off a possible grounds for hope.
