Zombie and skeleton heads are really rare too. Unlike the wither skeleton skull you can’t just kill a lot of them to get one. You HAVE to use a charged creeper.
So unless you want to wait to get lucky with lightning. You would have to get a trident, get channeling, find a creeper, strike him(and don’t accidentally kill him), then you have to find a zombie/skeleton, then blow it up, and like you said, make sure that the explosion is the source of death.

is that was the case it wouldnt be worth the effort of getting the skulls (which in my opinion is way harder and more tedious than killing the wither itself)
no matter how good a beacon is, if its a 50/50 unless you have luck either with skulls drops or the star drop, it would just be frustating not getting it
There were a few times I didn't get any star for killing a wither.

A beacon is much harder to get as you need a nether star which you need 3 wither skulls and you need more than 9 blocks of either iron,gold,diamonds,emeralds to even make use of it
That's the required amount of blocks required to utilize the beacon, not just obtain it. Beacons are blocks you have to craft, which he didn't include.
Beacon aint that hard to obtain if you know what your doing.

As a side note, making lightning creepers is easier now with the trident with a certain enchantment (forgot name). You can even make witches and some other stuff with it.

Bruh I remember one time me and my little cousin were playing together in the nether to get 3 wither skulls and I said this is going to take a long time are u ready (cause he never did this) so we killed the first skeleton and immediately dropped a skull and I said wow amazing luck we went to the second one and I also dropped a skull and my little cousin was are u sure their rare and I said their supposed to be. And the third one also dropped a skull. Basically we killed 3 skeletons and got 3 skulls

correction: you can also obtain the totem of undying from a raid. evokers will show up in late waves of a raid and they’ll drop a totem of undying too. but it still is a rare item.

To everyone saying that totems of undying are easy to get, from raids, look at the upload date, of this video. It was made before raids were introduced, and you had to find an extremely rare structure, just to get a couple of them, and that was it. They weren’t farmable, at all, before 1.14.

3:18 you could make rails going from a nether fortress to your nether portal, get the wither skeletons back to the overworld, and use the trident with channeling in the rail to create a charged creeper. Much easier than what he said
