- This video is about the two most popular hikes in Mecca Hills Wilderness, Ladder Canyon and Painted Canyon hikes. These two can be done in a loop in about 5.4 miles and with some Class 3 rock climb through the slot canyon and climbing some ladders on both sides. David and myself took on this one a few weeks back when the weather was cooler and right before the storm. The drive from LA will take around 3 hours to the town of Mecca, North of Salton Sea. From the pave road, another 4.6 miles of wash/dirt road to the trailhead. There are some low clearance vehicle made it all the way there but a high clearance vehicle put away some of your worries. Bring hat, extra water and food and dress for the occasion. Could be windy up in the ridge. Please avoid vandalizing the place, it's a hidden gem of Southern California.
Thanks to David for some of the video clips used in this video. Tagay!

That is such a fun hike. On your way out on the left side of painted canyon is another canyon with some wooden ladders.
Yeah we saw a ladder towards that. Next time I’d see the Grottos.
Wow, beyond beautiful, thanks for the views.
Thank you for watching, amazing hike indeed!
At 11:33 - I'm so glad you pointed out these human rock stacks. I'm heading up to Painted Canyon tomorrow, 12/13/22 and will take GREAT PLEASURE in knocking down every single one of them. "Leave No Trace" means exactly that! I'll also be taking those Werner ladders and donating them to the oppressed hispanic family in my neighborhood.
Mission Accomplished! DONE! Felt so good to knock those piles of human reminders down.
what a hike!! those narrows were scary, way too tight especially with the mud/sand composition of the walls wow... neat you saw that couple up top the lady was funny " sure you see a wedding dress on the trail every day" haha// you noticed the guy first... .. painted canyon also beautiful, more my kind of hike those slots really scare us haha // thanks for taking us with you
Thanks, Andrew.
Such a different adventure, if I’m solo I’d be scared in those slot canyons.
Nice video Robert. Those slot canyons were amazing! Thanks for suggesting that we do this hike. Tagay!
I’m glad you tagged along, such a jewel of SoCal. Tagay!
That definitely looks like a two person hike. I don’t think I would go alone just because
Most people go in groups actually. It’s fun either way.
@@20robertang I had the chance to go with a group but didn’t end up going and missed out. Definitely making plans to do this trail
Hey Robert, out in the desert looks like fun it is time to be hiking out here. Stay safe my friend
Thanks, Mike.
I hope I can visit Whitewater sometime soon..
There's a canyon out near Barstow called spooky canyon that is on my bucket list. I think it's similar to that hike but more closed off and darker. Cooler temperatures make desert hikes enjoyable and amazing. Tagay .
That’s an interesting spot to see, great for Halloween. Tagay!
Yup. Because it's really SCARYYYY! ZOIKS!!!😱
Do u think a regular car can handle the soft gravel driving up?
I've only been once! We traveled in a jeep
Yes, we saw some regular sedan at trailhead. When we went, the dirt road was in good shape. Storm came in after that.. so that’s the question.
@@20robertang thank you! I remember a car got stuck in the loose sand. Was a small One. I wanna go back so bad haha
Thank u for sharing the video adventure!
