INGREDIENTS:
1 cup red lentil (200g) (washed and soaked in water for at least 20 - 30 mins (or overnight) until the lentils are very tender)
(NOTE: Some lentils are more dry than the others and therefore need more soaking time. How to know if the lentils are soaked well? You should be able to cut a lentil piece with your nails, effortlessly. If not, then soak it longer)
1 inch of ginger (roughly chopped)
4 cloves of garlic (roughly chopped)
1 cup flat leaf parsley OR cilantro/coriander leaves
1/2 cup almond flour/meal (50g) OR bread crumbs
Salt to taste
1 to 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder (OPTIONAL)
1 teaspoon Cayenne pepper OR Indian red chili powder OR 2 green chilles OR Chili flakes (OPTIONAL)
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon black pepper powder
Juice of 1 lime OR 1 lemon OR to your taste
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Vegetables: (you can use any vegetable of you choice)
1 teaspoon cooking oil
1 medium onion (grated - about 1 cup approx.)
1 medium potato (grated - about 1 cup approx.)
1 medium carrot (grated - about 1 cup approx.)
1 cup cabbage (grated/finely chopped)
Salt to taste
1/2 cup cooking oil for frying

I made these today and it was not hard but it is tons of work. The prep is killer. Definitely not for lazy people.
2 years later update 😀: This has become one of our favorite recipes ever! Every time my vegan son comes back home this is the first welcoming meal I prepare, just love it! It is a breeze to make, and I serve it with cous cous and ratatouille. I also love your voice, thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Elizabeth Terry - Thank you!!!!❤️❤️
Fried or baked?
Did you use almond flour or cashews for binding?
@@radhasujana2916 almond flour
Hi, how long can be in the fridge? And in freezer? Thank you
I just made these for the first time yesterday, and I swear you guys are going to turn me into a freaking vegan! It was delicious! Now I'm hooked!
Thanks! So glad you liked it 😊
That Vegan Thought sounds Good😉
Vegan food prepared with wholesome ingredients can be delicious and healthful, and more humane.
I have never seen kebabs like this.
I was always under the impression that lentils must be cooked or boiled before making kebabs.
After reading the comments, I find that people do really enjoy these kebabs. I am definitely going to try this out.
Thanks so much.
I made them into round patties and omitted the oil. Baked at 425° for roughly 25 minutes, this worked for me just fine and they came out golden brown. They were delicious and Grandkids approved.
Damn straight As parents you have to be careful what you prepare and feed your children and you want them to be healthy you don't want them to be sick you did the right thing give them something that they think is really meat good job
Healthier! Thanks. God bless.
I will try it fried too! Thanks for sharing. God bless.
thank you!! I was just gonna ask how do I make this in the oven, but you answered my question for me. I lean towards being clueless in the kitchen, and need all kinds of help
Did you use parchment paper or straight onto a sheet pan ?
I made this two days ago. I doubled the recipe. Because I knew it was going to be great. Guess what?? It was great great and greater than great
Robin Tait thanks for trying this recipe. I am so glad you like it.
How's the taste?
Hah love your comment 👍

Okay am bought🙂👍
I just made this today, very delicious! I made a few substitutions, instead of the almond flour I used a 1/2 cup cooked quinoa, which I made on the dry side so it was very fluffy and not watery, did add smashed garlic to the cooking process so omitted more garlic when processing it later with everything else. For the vegetables I used carrot, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower and spinach (pan sauteed separately, squeezed out liquid, chopped then added to rest of vegetable mixture), all I had small amounts left in the fridg so chucked it all in, so skipped the potato. Seasonings I used were garam masala, cayenne, chili flakes, coriander, cumin, grated fresh ginger, salt & pepper and juice of 1 lime. Like other commenters, I chose to bake in a 425 degree oven for 25 minutes, and shaped in patties, which I flipped after 15 minutes. Came out great! Thanks!
Wonderful. I'll do the same. Thank you for sharing
I made these just as you described other than substituting mung beans soaked overnight in place of lentils, and leftover mashed potatoes in place of shredded. These are so amazingly flavorful! This will definitely become my new favorite way to use lentils. Thank you for sharing this delicious recipe ✌
Hey guys, read the recipe under the description, it has alternatives for the almond flour, I used bread crumbs and it turned out fine.
They absorb a lot of oil so use just enough in the pan, a couple of teaspoons were enough for me.
They were good eaten immediately after frying, but I actually found the texture even better after they sat for ten or so minutes.
Great recipe, I'm going to make burger patty sized ones next time for vegan burgers.
I made this recipe today. It was absolutely delicious! I made a bunch of adjustments based on what I had at hand, but the main recipe (procedure/tips) were followed. I baked them, as some in the comments suggested (425F for about 25 mins). I used an AirBake baking sheet. They were crispy and delicious!
I was thinking of a fresh avocado salad in the side :)
thank you!
I was dreaming about making this dish and saved it to my library until I buy a food processor. Finally I bought one and made this , I am amazed how good it turned out. It was tender from inside and crispy from the outside. I replaced the cabbage with cauliflower. I made it in the air frier with a spray. I think almond flour adds richness
Hi, does your food processor have like a grater setting? Because mine doesn't, so I'm wondering if the regular chopping/mixing setting will be ok for this recipe.
@@ng5976 Shes using a regular blender blade not grater.
You can freeze those in an airtight container, after shaping, placing pieces of parchment paper between them. They'll last for up to three months and you can bake them straight from the freezer, at 200 C or 180 C fan, for about 40 minutes.
Just made some for the family. They are fantastic and very easy to make. Thank you for the recipe!
@@genetreiley8092 You are welcome but the recipe is not mine. Just the tip on Freezing. I know it's important for busy people to have something homemade in the freezer, ready to bake. You should thank the channel that posted the video and the recipe. But thanx for the feedback. Tested recipes are less risk.
Or at maximum temp for just 5 min in an air fryer
@Christina Reynolds Corrected. : D)))))
Its always better to eat freshly cooked😊
This is by far the best recipe I've tried in months, even my husband, who loathes anything vegan, tucked in. Thank you so much.
People get turned off by the word vegan, but once they indulge they're hooked. Love me some lentil burgers also.
Eventually, all words become politicized and hijacked by ideology. Vegan in cooking simply means “no animal products.” Nothing to be afraid of. It’s the same as reacting to the term “Russian” or “Japanese” or “German” in front of the word recipe. If you like the ingredients, that’s all that matters.
@@sarahloffler1872 The term Plant Based seems more acceptable to the masses.
Universal Vibes TV, that’s true. But the masses shouldn’t always be relied upon to make good decisions on nutrition...or ethics. Vegan carries the full weight of the ethical dimension of nutrition.
But it's ok the lentils go in raw ?
You have such a great voice and clear, straight forward instructions without rambling. Thank you for the video and healthy recipe!!
Made these yesterday... baked at 375 for 20 minutes each side...maybe 10 minutes too long but they were delish...only had a zucchini and onion and green bell pepper& small potato on hand...excellent! We loved it!
I love how simple these recipes seem 😍
thank you so much for putting up the recipe also!! they look amazing!!
Made these yesterday, they were soooo good! I baked them and they were done in about 20 minutes (220°C). Definitely making these again!
Good point, I also usually prefer oven cooking to frying.
I made these using red cabbage instead of white and they came out so delicious!! Served in a pitta pocket with a yoghurt dressing. Yum
I have already made this recipe. Because I was trying for the first time, I followed the recipe step by step and never substituted anything. It came out to perfection. Absolutely delicious. I served with sliced red onions, sliced tomatoes and some picked gherkin in Pita with tahini sauce.
Are these spicy? Trying to work out if any good for the kids
@@peacelilly5074 You don't have to add hot pepper. The rest of the spices add nice flavors. Just eliminate peppery spices.
I tried it, loved it and my family loved it too. Please keep coming up with wonderful vegetarian recipes like this.
I must say- the best recipe for red lentil patties that I’ve came across you CZcams. These are my go to vegan burgers or kebabs whatever you wanna call it 😅. Thank you for the recipe!
I was dreaming about making this dish and saved it to my library until I buy a food processor. Finally I bought one and made this , I am amazed how good it turned out. It was tender from inside and crispy from the outside. I replaced the cabbage with cauliflower. I made it in the air frier with a spray. I think almond flour is very smart addition, it adds richness and flavour
Wow! This looks delicious! And super healthy! Thank you for taking the time to share your recipe! Blessings!
I made this tonight and it didn't turn out the greatest so I re-listened to the video and think I should have processed it in the food processor longer than I did. Also, my food processor is 'medium' sized and I realized I needed to split the mixture into two in order to process it all. I baked some and fried a few in coconut oil. I will make this again and bake them all as I prefer to avoid the oil. I baked them on parchment paper and that worked well. I anticipate it will work better on the second try!
You can use red lentil flour from supermarkets
Just watched this again and love it thank you
I gave it a try by baking instead of frying. It was insane! I'm gonna make again.
Thank you for the great recipe. Looks delicious and looking forward to making it. Thanks also for the great tutorial.
Update, I have made these a number of times and it's always wonderful. I sometimes make it with thyme and sage, so it tastes more like a rissole.
I had this recipe saved on my tablet for a while. I decided to try it yesterday and it was fantastic. I did not have parsley so i used basil. I like it and will sure be making it again and agai. Thanks for sharing.
I made these today for the second time and they were so delicious. I love them and will keep on making them. Thankyou so much for the recipe and for providing the list of ingredients. ❤ from Australia !!
Red lentils are so healthy. Can't wait to try this recipe. Thanks so much. Oh, and very clear instructions.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. Especially it's vegetarian. May God continue to bless you and your entire family,.Good morning.
Oh wow! Mmm. Looks scrumptious. Well presented...clear, concise, perfect! Can't wait to try this.I will use coriander and add yellow lentils.
This is a really excellent recipe from the lady - full of flavour and they stay in one piece! Thank you Madame!
I made these this week and they are delicious! Thank you for this!
Ooh these look absolutely wonderful, looking forward to trying these soon. The comments speak for themselves. Thank you for sharing this lovely recipe :)

Making again! My family can't get enough
Wonderful! I used curry powder and grated zuchini which I left salted for 20 minutes and squeezed dry. Super recipe, Thanks
I can't wait to try it💙 the instructions seem very easy to follow.
Thanks! I hope you like it.
Thank you for posting this, it is a brilliant recipe.
Lentils might seriously be one of my favorite ways to get protein!!! They are so awesome. This dish looks awesome- might try it with baking the kebabs!
Best kabab recipe ..very teasty yummy 😋
I made them, they were really yummmy😋😋 great for fasting for Easter. Hope you have more vegan recipes. Love the vide short and not too much talk. 🙏🙏🙏
Appreciate you putting a list of ingredients below - great instructions - thx for posting - cheers from Canada
Wow very nice, so yummy and tasty recipe
Mine are in the oven now! Easy to make because of clear instructions. I like your cutting board!
My daughter is vegan so I want to learn a few good recipes. I’m so happy I found your site. Thank you!
This was so good. I didn’t have a food processor so I used my ninja blender. Next time I will grind it up a little more, a tad bit to coarse because I’m a texture person, but it was still good.
It works well with gluten free panko crumbs!
I will try baking it next time following another commenter’s recommendations.
Amazing recipe, thank you for sharing, just made some it was very delicious. Thank you!!! 👍❤️
Love this recipe I just did it today delicious thank you for sharing love your vegan recipes 😃
I lov red lentils so this will be great for me to try, thanks for sharing
OMG this looks amazing. I would love to make thissss💗
This recipe is really good. I made it once before with fresh cilantro and very little oil. I used it instead of ground meat to make a hamburger sandwich. My kids really like it too. Thank you!
Zahner Noriko I am so glad you like it. Thanks!
Thanks Zahner Noriki, I am happy to hear it will work with less oil. I'm all for high fat diet (because it's healthy) but not cooked oils.
I'm also glad to hear it's good without using that insane amount of oil... now I'm wondering why these need to be cooked at all - most of these ingredients are much healthier eaten raw. BTW Angie you will notice that getting more than 15% or so of your food intake as fat will start to make you feel sluggish, unless you're in ketosis.
@@TheRealHonestInquiry raw lentils wouldnt taste good;
I just bake in the oven .
Great video, helpful reviews. Made myself some today by baking them. Lowered the heat as my oven is powerful, I'd rather have it cooked at lower for longer than burnt quickly and undercooked. Substituted cabbage with brussel sprouts that I had lying around. Didn't have any potatoes or carrots on hand, so my mixture was more crumbly and didn't hold well. I pulsed some of the lentils to be more paste like and added about 2 tbs of olive oil, just so they can hold together. Tasted amazing, also suggest using fresh chillies if possible!
Ma'am you just got yourself a loyal follower! That was delicious, my son loved them so much💗 thank you!
I was a little intimidated by all the grating of vegetables these kebabs required (I'm lazy) but they looked so delicious, I broke down and made them anyway. I'm so glad I did! They turned out great, and I'm not even that great of a cook. I used cilantro instead of parsley and lemon instead of lime but everything else I did just like the video. Afterwards, I dipped them in store-bought tzatziki sauce. I'd thought I had died and gone to heaven! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe!
Made these today - came out great. Did not have Cabbage but instead used Brocolli. Everyone loved it. Served it alongside some Tahini Garlic Siracha sauce.
this lady is my favorite youtuber..she has made life worth living.
Thank you! You are very kind :)
Wow this is the healthiest ever seen , loved loved loved loved
When you run to the kitchen out of excitement cus you have all the ingredients 😂
These are SO good!
They look quite like hamburger patties once fried. If you've had them before, they are equivalent to Falafels. I didn't have almond flour so i substituted sesame seeds, which gave them a slight smoky nutty flavor. I bet they will be delicious with BBQ sauce.
Now i will say, i doubled the recipe so i was quite tired by the time i was and that's how my quarter sized balls happened. I will use them in my kale salad.
Thank YOU!
Epiphanie Alway
Thinking the same thing (except lemons/limes)
Woooowww Lovely food thank you for sharing. I will a try 2moro.
8 months later ... well, how was it?
They were delicious 😊 thank you for sharing your recipe ❤️
Wow, this looks spectacular. Will try it myself. Thanks a bunch!
Ok, could not wait: cooked them precise same technique, just substituted a leek for the cabbage. Brilliant, totally delicious!😀😍😘
Betty Boop : adding leak is a lovely idea.
Did you cook the lentils first? Is that needed or do you just blend it raw?
@@adeelarazak I cooked them first, about 30 mins.
betty boop Thought so! Thank you
@@adeelarazak Lentils are not pre cooked, they cook during the frying process (pre soak makes for less cook time needed). If anyone is pre cooking then they didnt follow the recipe.
Thank you. Very clear concise directions.
Tzatziki, the Greek sandwich spread, made of plain yogurt, dill, cucumber, garlic and lemon might be really good.
Thanks again.
I cant believe you shaped the kebobs with one hand, amazing. great recipe thanks
I just made them and they are sooooo delicious! I love them. Thanks for the recipe!
Just made the recipe this evening .It turned out great!
This looks amazing!!! Lentils are my favourite so i'm super excited to make this!!
So excited to try this recipe out! Thank you.
These look great - I will make these over the weekend. Thanks for sharing.
I made these today, they were fantastic. Definitely something to make again and again. Thank youvery much for the recipe!
Noelia Hernández thank you for trying it!
Just made it. Fantastic. I fried mine but saved some to grill in the oven to taste the difference. I was a bit worried using all the spices and used Kashmiry Chili Powder which I bought yesterday here in an Indian shop in South Africa. These patties/kebabs have a lovely spicy flavour. Not hot, just slowly lingering in your mouth. This will become a regular meal in my house. I'm a subscriber now. Thank you!
Ellen Pike thank you for trying this recipe. I am glad you like it!
WOW! I usually only use red lentils in dhal. I'll definitely try this recipe. Thank you for the inspiration!
I will make these tomorrow. They look amazing! Thanks for the great idea and presentation

Your voice is so clear, and your instructions are concise and easy to follow. Excellent video quality too. Best of all, it's a great recipe! Well done! 👌
Rita T Yes, the voice is very clear, though accent sound forced: but, the narrator should let the cook herself ( I think it’s a lady); also say something, so we know that the cook is different than the narrator.
The Kebabs though sound delicious and, healthy!
Seeing the cooks’ hands, I remembered myself, that even though I got arthritis in my hands, but I still did cook a lot.
Just shows arthritis or age doesn’t stop anyone do what they really want to do.
Good Job!
@@sukaynanathani7246 how do you know it's not the same person ?
I noticed something different in this video as well. Instructions are still clear, however the pitch in her voice is a bit different from the other videos...as if she tried to sound a bit more energetic..? Unfortunately, it was a bit annoying to hear as it was a louder/forced. Please don’t change your soft, soothing voice / communication style. I absolutely love your recipes, how objectively you explain them, and especially your soothing calm voice.
