Watching this after Christmas. This year my sister came and stayed overnight with me. She said she is with her son, daughter in law, and grandchildren all the time. She wanted to be with her sister this year. I am so blessed to have her. She is 84 and I am 70 and our mortality is an ever present shadow. Such a nice Christmas. Looking forward to more content in 2024. Happy New Year.
I had a really bad december this year, loads of anxiety, mental breakdowns, relationship problems, etc. But every morning as I sat down to watch your vlogmas I felt like I was taken to a safe space. To hear you talk about your own mental health as something that in the past has been an incredible burden and a hard thing to come to terms with, but now seeing you deal with it in such a healthy way and talking about it in a way that makes it seem okay and (most of the time) tolerable. Its really inspired me. In these hard times you have given me a place where I can forget about my own anxeities for just a little bit. I will forever be thankful to you for that. Can't wait to watch more knitty content from you in the future.
So happy you were able to enjoy yourself for the whole Vlogmas in spite of some bumps in the road along the way. Hold on to the peace and beauty of all your Christmas smiles. You have worked so hard to accept yourself. Job well done, Laura.

Enjoy the journey because sometimes it’s not so good (valley) and sometimes it’s wonderful (peak) but it’s all the same journey. I am so glad to hear that this Christmas was so much better for you. And, I live in the United States, and I’ve never heard of anyone using any type of hot water bottle. I ordered one and knit a hot water bottle cover and now I use it when I sit and knit in my chair and even place it on my back when I sleep at night. Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day (does one say that?), Laura and all the Penroses! Sooo happy to see you so happy!! My mom the therapist would say that 2023 Laura wouldn't be 2023 Laura w/o 2022 Laura. We're all plied yarn of multiple strands of a variety of fibers, which gives us our strength, pliability, and resiliency. And I do love the way Laura Yarn knits up 😊. Tho thousands of miles apart, I'm so struck by how much we are all alike. Vlogmases from all over the world really underscore that. There's a beautiful chord of different foods, traditions, holidays, histories, etc., but these windows into distant families show that the rhythm and melody of our lives are so much alike, and they're all composed of the same notes of love. A lot of what you voiced about your anxiety resonated with me, I had such arguments with my husband about attending events where I was so worried about going, making conversation and most of all being judged. Tears are coming almost every day at the moment. Let’s hope you are right and 2024 will be a good one ❤
It gives me so much joy and hope to watch these videos and seeing how kind you are to yourself and how much you take care of your mental health. I really admire your journey and hope to one day come close to it! Spent half of christmas on the brink of overwhelm and then an hour hiding on the floor behind a bed close to a breakdown.. all because I didn't have the courage to tell my in-laws (didn't want to let them down and all that) that their 2 hour christmas morning walk triggers me a lot and stresses me out because I don't feel like we have the time for it and then I just have to stress until Christmas dinner because of the walk (especially with two kids under two, who need to eat, sleep, get dressed for a walk and celebrations and so on before Christmas dinner) Should have just taken those 2 hours to myself instead, gotten myself ready in a calm quiet house and maybe knit a little bit and then gotten the kids ready when they got back... maybe next year I will be as strong as you and as far along on the journey to prioritize myself over what I think my in-laws will think if I don't go on the christmas walk. Like I said, you are an inspiration and I really appreciate that you share your journey. ❤ Hope the rest of your Christmas celebrations and new year was lovely! 🥰

Except for no snow yet in Minnesota, Christmas was lovely for us. New kitten is a joy! We named her Molly Christmas! Adorable beyond belief, just over one pound. I sing in my church choir; this is always a blessing, especially on Christmas Eve. Your kids are such fun to watch, certainly at this special time. Dearest Laura, thank you so much for this year's vlogmas❤ you were talking about how you use vlogmas to kind of freeze in time cozy memories of you and your family, but maybe you don't know how much it means to us too😊 Really your vlogmases brought comfort, joy and fun to my december, and your videos felt like the coziest companions through happy times and meanwhile a safe space to go during harder moments. I also got a little teary at the end but it's just because I could understand really well what you said about being happy and grateful for the progress you made from the past year. We all should take a minute to pause, pat ourself on the shoulder and maybe have a little happy cry, if that feels good, because we did a great job and it's that job we did on ourselves that we'll make us be better and nail 2024! Except for no snow yet in Minnesota, Christmas was lovely for us. New kitten is a joy! We named her Molly Christmas! Adorable beyond belief, just over one pound. I sing in my church choir; this is always a blessing, especially on Christmas Eve. Your kids are such fun to watch, certainly at this special time. We enjoyed our "kids" and grandson (8) and are grateful to have family. Enjoy the rest of your holiday! 🎄

I am glad I was able to share your Christmas season. This is the first year I even knew about Vlogmas, and I have learned a great deal. I am honored that you decided to be the real you and you shared the good and the areas you have felt vulnerable. Laura, journeys are never on flat ground, but rather there are peaks and valleys that you will travel on through your journey of life. Enjoy the journey because sometimes it’s not so good (valley) and sometimes it’s wonderful (peak) but it’s all the same journey. I am so glad to hear that this Christmas was so much better for you. And, I live in the United States, and I’ve never heard of anyone using any type of hot water bottle. I ordered one and knit a hot water bottle cover and now I use it when I sit and knit in my chair and even place it on my back when I sleep at night. So thank you for bringing me my Christmas enjoyment of the hot water bottle. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
