- What made me buy this nth copy of the WAVE+/SURGE is the never-before-seen copy of the LEATHERMAN bit. So the bit retention system is not the same and the bit is slightly shorter on the NEXTOOL. However, only some leatherman bits, not all, are compatible from LEATHERMAN to NEXTOOL. NEXTOOL has not yet gone so far as to offer a bit kit...
Otherwise, the CAPTAIN, a cross clone of the SURGE (awl/scissors) and the WAVE+, suffers from the lack of locking of the tools, the absence of the wire stripper on the can opener and of a pocket clip. NEXTOOL offers a sheath (but to be purchased separately). The replaceable wire cutter is not compatible and no one knows where to find the CAPTAIN's. Due to the spring-loaded pliers, the CAPTAIN has rulers (inch/mm) of limited lengths. For the solidity of the CAPTAIN, I invite you to go see the destructive videos of [@Multitools world].
Ce qui m’a fait acheter cette n-ième copie du WAVE+/SURGE, c’est la copie inédite de l’embout tronqué de LEATHERMAN. Alors le système de retenu de l’embout n’est pas le même et l’embout est légèrement moins long sur le NEXTOOL. Cependant, seus certains embouts tronqués, pas tous, sont compatibles de LEATHERMAN à NEXTOOL. NEXTOOL n’a pas encore été jusqu’à proposer un bit kit …
Autrement, le CAPTAIN, clone croisé du SURGE (poinçon/ciseaux) et du WAVE+, souffre du manque de verrouillage des outils, de l’absence du dénudeur du câble sur l’ouvre-boîte et d’un clip de poche. NEXTOOL propose un étui (à acheter séparément). Le coupe-câble remplaçable n’est pas compatible et nul ne sait où trouver celui du CAPTAIN. En raison de la pince à effet ressort, le CAPTAIN a des règles (inch/mm) de longueurs limitées. Using the bits similar to Leatherman bits very strange decision of Capitan's developers. Leatherman bits are very expensive in my country. Typical bits are better choice.
I don’t know just seems to mimic what leatherman already makes but at less expensive. Only has use value as I see .
That SAK you used to open the box is a great tool. I have one and use it every day. It is (as you know) designed for opening the back-plate of watches, but it is useful for so much more. Great for opening ring-pulls on drinks cans to save your nails, for example.
Excellent presentation and review! One of the best on CZcams far as I'm concerned, now I still think the Diacamping Dl1 with replacement cutters 3 extra bits and full scissors and all inside tools lock and when you add the 6×2mm magnet to the bit exchanger you can use any bits including all leatherman bits too, IMHO....
My opinion about the Diacamping DL1 being the best is strictly for the Budget world, of course Swisstool and Leatherman reigns supreme...
No locking for secondary tools again from Nextool. Now with proprietary bits. It's a shame.

Pliers close better than my Leatherman OTF. Bits, extensions and ratchets the same. Spring loaded pliers cuts ok. I think it maybe worth getting one for my collection.
A really nice tool, but sooo frustrating the inner tools aren't locking, especially the bit driver. That "bump" on it though... If you fold it against the other handle when the tool is closed with the driver out, is it possible that it kinda locks like that, diagonally kinda?
