  • Michael Waddell gives step by step instructions on how to completely breast out a turkey with a pocket knife. Step by step guidelines for breasting out the turkey, cutting off spurs, and getting the tail feathers and fan off the bird for turkey mounting purposes. Keep in mind, there is also meat on the legs that is edible, this tutorial is just for getting the breast meat from a wild turkey.

    Today I got my first turkey. With my car. Hit a young hen and felt bad about it. Turned around and put her in the back of my vehicle then continued on to my shopping. After putting my groceries away, I watched your video, then out to the garage I went. Thankfully, none of my neighbors decided to walk their dogs past my house. HOA would've loved that. Thanks to you, I now have meat for tomorrow's supper in my fridge. Watching your video made it easy, and I sure do appreciate that. God bless.

    To anyone out there leaving legs in the field your shorting yourself out of some great eats. Look up hank shaw's Turkey leg recipies. I save mine and make carnitas out of them. They are now one of my favorite parts of the bird. Good luck to everyone this spring if you get one try a new recipe with the legs in your crock pot and you won't be disappointed.

    • @mikekupper6222
      @mikekupper6222 Před 4 lety +29

      JT 1200 I make my own game stock and chicken broth. Basically you take the bones, cut them into chunks, be sure and use the joints with some meat and cartilage and what all left on. I’m talking deer and elk that I have harvested and butchered myself, or chickens I use the backs after processing them. Then roast the bones in the oven a bit, get them nice and toasty but not cooked. Then put them into a large pot with root vegetables, whatever sounds good to you. And set that to a low boil for about 24 hours. This will cook the bone marrow along with everything else and make a highly nutritious and delicious stock. Filter out all of the stuff and pressure can the liquid stock. I use the stock all year anytime I need liquid for cooking. You can find CZcams vids on how to make it to. Thanks for your message

    These are honestly all the things that I have done since I started Turkey hunting several years ago. Glad to see that someone I look up to in the hunting world does the same! One thing I'd recommend for the legs though, Waddy...slow cook them for about 5-6 hours and you can pull the meat and make amazing pulled Turkey leg sandwiches! Throw in any kind of your favourite seasonings or vegetables into the mix too and maybe a tiny bit of broth. You'll be amazed how much tender the leg meat really gets. Little to no waste and no messing around with the bones and tendons inside the leg as the meat will just come right off. Turkey season here in Ontario, Canada in about a month or so. I cannot wait to get back out there. Best of luck to all the Turkey hunters across North America and the world. Let's all self isolate in the best way possible by sending time in the great outdoors! Cheers!
