  • 3rd April 2021 - Bangalore - Mangalore road trip
If you are planning a trip to Mangalore and Udupi, please watch this video till the end without skipping. In this video, I am going to share the details of places in and around Mangalore and Udupi which I covered during my 3 days trip from Bengaluru. We covered 1000 km in 3 days and visited 21 places. Less time more places. Let’s start. Welcome back to another episode of Tint & Travel.
First, in the list is Sringeri. Sringeri is a hill town in the Chikkamagaluru district. Located 320 km from Bengaluru and 107 km from Mangalore. It is the site of the first matha (Sringeri Sharada Peetham) established by Adi Sankara in the 8th century, located on the banks of river Tunga. This town houses very famous and old temples of Sri Sharadamba, Sri Vidyasankara, Sri Malahanikeswara, and other deities.
Second, in the list is Seethanadi. When we travel 40 km from Sringeri towards Udupi, after passing through the Agumbe ghat session, you can locate this place. The river originates near Narasimha Parvatha and passes through Agumbe forests and flows near Hebri, Barkur, and joins the Suvarna river, before joining the Arabian sea. This is a very beautiful place where you can pit stop for enjoying the beauty of Seethanadhi and clicking few memorable photographs. I found this place enjoyable.
Third, in the list is Varanga Kera Basadi. It is 54 km from Sringeri, 373 km from Bengaluru, and 44 km from Udupi. This is a Jain temple located in Varanga village. Kere Basadi is a 12th-century temple, considered to be unique for being situated in the middle of a lake. We need to take a boat ride to reach this temple. The other attractions are Jain Math and Neminatha Basadi, a 1200-year-old temple.
The fourth attraction is St. Lawrence Basilica. This is also called Attur Basilica. It is located 27 km from Varanga, 365 km from Bengaluru, 41 km from Udupi, and 58 km from Mangalore. It was built in 1759 and is supposed to be the site of many miracles. There is a holy pond behind this church said to have been produced many healings, hence most of the pilgrims make it a point to visit this pond.
Fifth one is Padubidri beach, located 391 kms from Bengaluru, 32 kms from mangalore and 26 kms from Udupi. The beach is clean and well kept. This beach is not crowded like the more popular beaches in Mangalure and Udupi. This is also a perfect place for individuals and families who look forward to a pleasant evening watching the incredible sunset.
Six in the list is Padubidri End Point beach, located near to the Padubidri Beach. Recently won blue flag rating. Blue Flag is a certification by Foundation for Environment Education (FEE) which evaluates beaches, waterfronts for certain facilities, quality standards and eco-friendliness. Only 2 beaches of Karnataka are blue flag certified right now- Padubidri and Kasarkod in Honnavara. This beach is one of the 8 beaches in India which got blue flag certified recently.
Seveth one is Suratkal beach located 365 kms from bengalurur, 16 kms from Mangalore and 42 kms from Udupi. This beach is also called NITK Beach.
The eighth attraction is Panambur beach. This beach is credited as one of the safest and best-maintained beaches of India. It is the most popular, well-connected, and most visited beach in Karnataka.
The last one from Day 1 is a famous restaurant in Mangalore - Fish Market.
DAY 2 starts from Malpe Beach. Malpe Beach is known as a destination for holidays and picnics. This is the 10th attraction on the list.
We tried Bumper Ride from Malpe Beach. .
Parasailing is another attraction in Malpe Beach.
The 13th attraction is St. Mary’s island. We need to take a 20 mins boat ride to reach St Mary’s Island.
This is Fisherman’s Bay and Sea Food Restaurant in the Maple Beach. From here we can enjoy the beauty of Sea and have delicious food.
15th Attraction is the Malpe Sea walk. Malpe Beach has a Sea Walkway with a view of St. Mary's Island and other islands.
16th in the list is Delta Point, also known as Kodi Bengre Beach. Located 412 kms from Bengaluru, 71 kms from Mangalore and 18 kms from Udupi.
17th attraction is Kemmannu Hanging Bridge. Located 403 kms from Bengalurur, 64 kms from Mangalore and 10 kms from Udupi. Constructed to connect the two shores on the Swarna river. Built-in 1991
DAY 3 starts from Sri Venkataramana temple in Mangalore. This is located 350 kms from Bengaluru and 57 kms from Udupi. Built in 1868.
19th attraction is Milagres Church. The Milagres Church is a historic Roman Catholic Church situated in the Hampankatta locality of Mangalore. The church was built in 1680 by Bishop Thomas de Castro.
20th place from the list is Tannirbhavi Beach. Located 358 km from Bengaluru, 10 km from Mangalore, and 54 km from Udupi.
Last but not least, the 21st attraction is Tannirbhavi Tree Park. Located near the Tannibhavi Beach.
