Borna "In Halle" Coric
Sousa was right tbo. He was only bouncing the ball while the ball kid was running, not serving, and coric keeps saying wait on break point. Wtf?
Coric was right. Don't defend one of the dirtiest players on tour.
Loving all your videos mate. I wish there was more behind the scenes pr things you may have missed sequences.
Also i wish coaches did press conferences alongside players and questions were 50-50.
Its a whole other industry inside of tennis which is crucial for player development so why are all but one or two coaches complete unknowns. Uncle Tony and imposter Mourotoglu

@@CountryCowboy008I think she felt Alize was saying it to sound more Italian, even though it is a Spanish word.
They’d make a perfect couple. Lol@“I’m his bitch or what”
There's no reason for Coric to say wait, he can just raise his racket and not receive the ball. The umpire will repeat the point if the receiver is not ready.
He was right
Not all people serving look over at their opponent once they start their service motion. As someone who plays tennis, having someone say wait before I bother going through with my serve is much more preferable than the person just raising their racquet and me serving for no reason. Tactically it's frustrating as well. So there was nothing wrong with what Borna did.
@@kntrmnd you don't give orders and say 'wait', it's just rude. If Coric had said 'sorry' instead and raised his racquet this whole thing would have never happened.
@@frankg.39 You say sorry if you're alerting your opponent because YOU are not ready, and therefore responsible for it. The ballboy has nothing to do with Coric. This happens routinely on tour and nobody reacts emotionally like Sousa - which, if you know him, is not out of character. Dude was up and trailing badly in the third and turned a non-situation into a situation.
@@frankg.39 And just to add, he's not giving him orders ffs lol it's just a null and void point if he serves. Did Sousa a favour for not wasting a needless serve and give away where he wanted to serve anyway.

Coric said "wait" when Souza was about to serve his second serve. According to rules that's a first serve for Souza.
He said wait becaue the ball boy behind Sousa dropped the tennis ball. What are you talking about, that is no first serve for Sousa. In the second one, the ball boy was still on the court when Sousa started to serve. Of course Borna is gonna say wait the ball kids can't just grab the ball and run back in 2 seconds.
@@tennisee10 Hi. This is not about loving Souza or hating Coric or viceversa. USTA Comment 23.1: What happens when the server is interrupted during delivery of the second service? The server is entitled to two serves.
@@miguelbarahona6636 this is the ATP not the USTA bro
That’s a terrible misinterpretation of the rules. He’s alerting him that a ball boy dropped a ball. The “interruption” was caused by the ball boy and Coric merely informed Sousa of it. And this is the ATP, not USTA
@@miguelbarahona6636 this is not how the rule is interpreted.
Borna was in the right. Joao acts like a brat on court when things don’t go his way.
what? a little bit of education was good... Borna must said please...
@@xixinskisport4771 I dont think so, saying wait because a ball boy is running is totaly acceptional
@@xixinskisport4771 why would borna need to say please? He stopped play because the ball kid was still running to his spot which is out of his control. If it were borna himself who was not t personally ready to receive then yes i would agree that he should say please. But this is not the case.
Dude shut up what do you know about this? xD
Ehrenamtlicher Ehrenmann yeah but he said it many times while Sousa was almost ready to serve
Would Sousa have said you must say please if Federer had only said ‘Wait’. I dont think so. So Borna is just fine here
Who cares about Federer, not relevant
federer would say please, plus he’s earned respect
coric is 7 years younger then Sousa and 15 years younger then Federer, they should have more respect for older players
If they throw down, Coric wins easily.

You doing too much Sousa. 🤣🤣. Relax
As if saying please degrade your value? Like......????? I don't understand the basis for Coric's refusal to say "Please wait,"

To say please sometimes is not bad!!
If Sousa would take the energy he uses to scream with his volleys and use it to focus on every shot, to make winners, he would surpass his own expectations. jmo
If we bring our troubles to work, work suffers.
You don’t no tennis Richard. You say wait please in tennis. Go play futbol or cricket. Leave tennis to the rich
@@wrench9103 He doesn't have to wait even if his opponent says wait. So there's no problem.
@@ha-qg2ug yes you do. Go back to ⚽️. You don’t know 🎾
Shut up
Was waiting for some facial massage ... alas!
Man…. “Wait” “wait”… what is this? I would have served… and coric would be talking during the point… he was ready… why is he saying wait?? The umpire doesn’t say anything? Jesus…. Ridiculous
He said 'wait' because the ball kid behind Sousa was still running when Sousa was starting his service motion.
Agassi used to say... The returner needs to play at the speed of the server...
Well depends on the server they can be quick serving. Jankovic does this a lot.
Yeah but the server shouldn't be going into his motion with ball kids still running in the view of the returner. That's Coric's complaint here. He's actually ready to return, but the ball kids are still moving.
@@grimson probably but that shouldn't be enough to stop Sousa motion. It's reasonable to assume that the ball kid would be in position at the time of the actual serve. This happens in almost every match.
In any case even assuming Coric was right and Sousa was actual serving with people running in the court, he should have applied the magic word "please" offcourse or pointing that to the referee.
I don't know the rules of tennis but if someone says wait, can you just serve anyway?
no, you can start serving only once the opponent is ready, if the opponent takes too much time he can get time violation, but you always have to make sure they are ready
The thing here was that Sousa takes too little time in between the serves. The ball kids do not have enough time to grab the ball and return to their place. Hence why Borna is saying wait. Borna is completely in the right here.
USTA Comment 23.1: What happens when the server is interrupted during delivery of the second service? The server is entitled to two serves. According to rules, if Coric stops Souza when he´s about to serve a second serve, it´s first serve again. It´s the umpire´s fault.
@@miguelbarahona6636 Under normal circumstances you are right. However Sousa started serving before the ball kids were done, which is not allowed.
@@tennisee10 Coric had his assumptions which he said like Sousa was serving fast in Halle too. I guess if he had any issue, he could have told to umpire and not the opponent.
Borna also trains as a boxer. Sousa would be outmatched, I think.
Boxing is very limited. Not even close to real fighting
@@spiceup356 LOL
@@evdanker Ask any MMA fighter, they do train boxing but it's a very small part of their routine. So he's def not wrong. 90%+ of real fights have some form of grappling at some point. Reality isn't just flashy KOs. Now I have no clue if Sousa has a good RNC or not ;)
@@cicatrace It's a very big part of their routine, if talking about the fighting aspect of their training, not including strength and conditioning that is, there are MMA fighters who barely kick, so they must be training for something on their feet, don't you think? It's the base for anyone.
Yeah I'm sure joao is aware of borna's boxing so he will use his mean single leg to take borna down. lol
Who won ?
Yes You are lol
I like Borna Coric. But he is wrong here. It is polite to say please wait or just lift a hand. The other person has to wait. If not it's his mistake. But to say wait is not gentlemanly. Maybe there's a past history between the two.
I really hate when players casually break their rackets. One, It’s super bad for the environment, and two, rackets are fucking expensive and there are people out there who can’t afford them.
Players should be fined every time they break it… let’s say $10000/racket
If he breaks a racket it means one more racket gets sold, which is good for employment and the economy. Linking him breaking a racket in the heat of a moment to poverty and climate is pretty silly.
I really hate it when people comment on petty stuff in the comment section. One, it takes electricity, which is bad for the environment and two, there are people who can’t even afford the internet or a mobile phone. People should get fined everytime they post about petty stuff….let’s say $10000/post. (See how easy it is so make a big deal out of nothing)

Coric shouldnt say wait. Sousa can play based on his own serving timing according to the rules.
Ok but if the ball boy is still on the court he cannot serve, and that is the situation here..
The ballboy was still running in the middle of the court. Sousa was speeding things up to mess with Coric, which he had the right to do despite how unkosher it is (he's known to be unkosher), but certainly not when the ballboy isn't back in position.
