About The Borgias:
Oscar® winner Jeremy Irons stars in The Borgias the saga of history's most infamous crime family. Conspiring with his ruthless sons Cesare and Juan and poisonously seductive daughter Lucrezia, the charismatic Rodrigo Borgia will let nothing and no one stand in the way of his relentless quest for wealth and power. Mercilessly cruel and defiantly decadent, intimidation and murder are his weapons of choice in his scandalous ascension to the papacy in Renaissance-era Italy.

• The Borgias Season 2: ...
We can hear you thinking, LOL.
Oh my 'lanta. The snarky conversational exchanges between Rodrigo and Cesare make me LOL! XD Just the way the lines are delivered in the scenes. Francois Arnaud and Jeremy Irons really play well off each other in scenes.
Lol
lucrezia's hair is so gorgeous
ye
I want my hair thick and pretty like her :((
Lady Adrienne Wish someone would make a hairstyle tutorías series about her.
her wig you mean lol
Her hair is beautiful in irl, but not like this, she's using hair extentions, also to make them thick.
Even Rodrigo knows that Cesare doesn't want her to get married haha Lucrezia and Cesare's love is so obvious!! Love them!
We need Lucrezia Borgia hair tutorials.
Step one: Get a professional wig made
@@Persnikity-yv3nh That or have servants whose sole job is taking care of your hair, like she and many other noblewomen would've had.
omg lucrezia is gorgeous!!!!!!!! just love her!
actually the whole cast is fantastic i love francoisi holliday and jeremy i just cant get enough of them !! their talents are incredible!
i just love borgias...
I loved how Rodrigo loved his grandson Giovanni despite that he was illegitimate and and not from a noble
They are all illegitimate 😂😂😂
All of his kids are…..
i will never forgive showtime for cancelling this show
Lucrezia looks absolutely gorgeous
this remains the funniest moment in the show 1:10
Lucrezia/ Cesare i ship them so much i don't care i know its wrong but fuck it.
They are so in love and the chemistry is maddening love the actors.
Go Lucrezia tell it like it is, defend your rights
She’s the daughter of a 15th century pope. She has no rights.
The pope knows Cesare is in love with the sister. lol
I love Lucrezia is good that she stood up to her father i wish she would just have said this.
father: this language does not become you..
Lucrezia: You where not the one that got raped time after time father i was!
Her second marriage did indeed have to do with Forli - indirectly. The Sforza's (remember the "bitch" at Forli?) were their enemies at this point, therefore they (the Borgias) needed allies. One way of securing allies is to have Lucrezia married off again (her first marriage was also a means of securing allies).
it was his laugh that got me! He minded me soo much of kenneth williams from the carry on films. The tudors wasn't exactly accurate...henry's sister who married charles brandon wasn't called margaret, it was mary, and she married the old king of france not portugal (even tho the french king was shown as young) henry did have a sister called margaret but she was married to the king of scotland.
Go Lucrezia!!!!
thats the one thing that annoys me about these shows, they're never historically accurate, most people don't know the truth then they watch these shows and then think they know history. Shame aswell, I can imagine Lucrezia and Alphonso's marriage would be amusing to watch lol
why did he say Forli? Lucrezia's second marriage didn't have anything to do with Forli...I would say who but it would be a major spoiler :-p
Hi
well I think Alphonso's dead so they basically follow their own plot...
they had a child together
Too modern words from Lucrezia. Normaly those women knew what purpose they had. And marriage into a noble family meant nothing more than a huge boost in wealth and status.
Although I agree with you that it was too modern for the time I still think it makes narrative sense within the plot of the show
During the first season Lucrezia was the way you describe, a woman who knew that her marriage was to provide political alliances and economic resources to her family and especially her father and she was perfectly fine with that and made it clear several times however, after having such bad experiences in her first marriage I think it is logical that she developed a rejection and a certain phobia of marriage and refused to marry again
Actually there were many accounts of women not wanting to marry💀 or getting rid of their spouses...ehem Aqua Toffana
@Chipmunk Park all i hear when u say aqua taffana is Bailey sarian 🤭
You can certainly pick apart the dialogue for ways that it sounds too modern, but the general sentiment is very true to the complaints that many Italian / European noblewomen had at Lucretia’s time. Lucretia lived in the middle of the Querelle des femmes, and discussions around gender relations, gender equality, marriage especially, and so on, was was very common and popular with aristocracy in that era.
Women’s rights generally in Italy also varied very much from city-state to city-state - in Venice afaik, noblewomen were often shut away in monasteries for much of their lives, in others they had a lot of freedom and autonomy in basically all aspects of life. Idk to what extent the real Lucretia would have been personally familiar with “proto-feminist” / pro-woman works like De Pizan’s and Bartolomeo Goggio’s, but she certainly would have been aware of them and the general cultural debate surrounding choice in marriage.
just meeting him would be hilarious!!! His perfect voice :D
The Tudors was acurate, The Borgias is crap in historical acuracy
I hate them in Assassin's Creed, lmao
#NerdMoment
I was heartbroken to have to fight against the borgias in the game
haha the pope educated her. Sweet!
