I’m curious as to why Kate asks Sophie to come travelling with her twice. Would Sophie ask Kate if situation was reversed and rana was still around? Are the writers suggesting through Sophie that her relationship with Paula is not as important or a phase? I find the question from Kate and Sophie’s responses irritating. Maybe I’m overreacting a bit.
Not at all, Kate never loved Sophie and Sophie loves Paula and vice-versa, it is the build up to Brooke's maternity leave, with hopefully a proposal from Paula!!

At first, I was curious to find out how the writers would portray the "Sophie and Paula" relationship. Initially, I thought the soap wanted to include representation from the growing group of younger lesbians seeking long-term liaisons with partners significantly older than them. Sadly, the writers (once again) disappoint. *Sigh. Differently from real-life couple Sarah Paulson (44) and Holland Taylor (76), who have demonstrated how big-age-gaps romances can be passionate and real, "Saula" has focused on the maternal dominance of Paula over Sophie. No doubt some real-life big-age-gaps in relationship may function as such. Nevertheless, I was hoping for soap-opera hot passion and more drama around how the difference in life-experiences may affect the couple. Maybe some other show may take it on some day. A girl can dream! ^_^
I think it will come but remember that Sophie's "Other" Relationships went down the drain. Also, remember that if Paula hadn't been hired by Sally and they weren't "Old Mates" Paula wouldn't have come to the Street. You are so right on about Holland Taylor & Sarah Paulson. I loved Sarah in "Carol". Also Paula is "Conservative" and Sophie is "Blue Collar". Remember in Queer As Folk (US) when Michael Novotny and his Boyfriend David The Doctor had Dinner with David's Friends there was alot of awkwardness. Also when Michael gave David Checks to Cash, he didn't cash them. Then look at Ellen DeGeneres and Portia Rossi. They are 15 Years apart but Ellen's worth "More" than Portia. What would have been "Hot" if Paula said to Sophie. "Let's Get Out OF Here, Let's Go Back To Mine, and Do Our Own Celebration In Private".
Beautifully written, I had the same hopes. Paula is the archetypal ,powerful yet nurturing, mature woman. Would have preferred her character to be lesbian rather than Bisexual though. Wish we had more happy endings for gay soap characters instead of them all being killed off 😪
They’re definitely building towards a split in a few weeks. All the comments about Sophie needing to enjoy life lately is leading to Sophie wanting to join Kate traveling. She still leaves even though Paula tells her she doesn’t want to go. Brooke will be gone until at least around 2020 Xmas. No way they’ll keep them together.
I would love for Paige Sandhu to go on Coronation Street and cause problems for Zeedan who will get to the bottom of what happened to Hashim. Play The Sister In Law. Paige was amazing as Meena on Emmerdale. She should teach a Masterclass in Acting. She could give these US Soap Villians a run for their money.
Sophie and Paula are so cute. I’m glad Sophie has someone to give her some gentles, but firm nudges. So basically they killed Rana off for no reason, because Kate is now leaving. They could’ve gotten married and swanned off.
