War of the Spark Lore:
Nicol Bolas has forced some of the greatest Planeswalkers in the Multiverse together on Ravnica in a quest to become a God. This quest requires the sparks of others, which Nicol Bolas seeks to steal! However, one Planeswalker in particular on Ravnica has already lost their spark once. This is the Demon Planeswalker, Ob Nixilis. With a new card in War of the Spark, Ob Nixilis, the Hate-Twisted, finds himself on a Plane with not real side in the conflict outside of his own. He has a long history of conquering entire worlds and trying to destroy Zendikar, now he's working with Karn and Dack Fayden to not lose his spark once again.

Ob Nixilis is my second favorite Planeswalker only due to Nicol Bolas being just crazy cool. I do feel that he will be the deciding factor in a later story so I can't see him working for Bolas.

They should use hedrons on Nicol Bolas to trap him on Ravnica, then the planeswalkers take control of Tezeret and use Planer Bridge on the eternals and Nicol Bolas to trap them on Amonkhet, and then throw the immortal sun on the plane for good measure

@@jesok3761 well the madness was from slowly turning into a demon. But to address the original question, the contract may be preventing the curse from taking hold, according to Vess.
She’s already been confirmed for a comic that takes place after war of the spark.

Ob Nixilis, was one of my favorite planeswalker. His cards have always been blah but I like his look.
Love the video, but it always makes me sad to see the Tibalt hate.
I would absolutely love to see a video about my favourite Planeswalker Sarkhan. He‘s one of the characters which fate is just unclear and he has a major connection to both Bolas and Ugin. He could just be killed by Bolas or maybe he could work as sort of a double agent? I mean, Bolas doesn‘t know he‘s with Ugin yet...

Whenever oath of ob nixilis comes into play draw 2 cards loose 2 life.
Whenever you activate a planeswalker ability, draw a card loose 1 life.

-10: Ob Nixilis becomes a 10/10 creature with lifelink, trample, and first strike until the end of turn. All planeswalkers your opponents control become X/X creatures and fight Ob Nixilis if able, X being the number of loyalty counters on each planeswalker. You choose the order in which the fights occur.
That would probably end in him dying because first strike doesnt effect the "fight" mechanic

Ob Nixilis is my favorite.
Ob Nixilis always reminds me of Megatron from Transformers, but a version of Megatron that went unchecked an was successful in his ambitions. I've always like Ob Nixilis though.
Can we please get a lore video on Parhelion? When I saw the spoiler card I went full on Timmy mode. Now all I want is just to force that big dumb spaceship in the next year of magic :D

Why Garruk isn't in War of the Spark is beyond my comprehension.
Cause he'd murder everyone, sans a few women planeswalkers 😉,
Short answer? Lore-wise, he doesn't give a fuck.
Outside of that, it's because the writers have plans for him at a later date.
Bolas doesn't want him on Ravnica, he can't harvest the sparks of Garruk's victims, and he might be strong enough to put Bolas down.
Garruks gonna be the one to pop up and slay bolas like a G
After the War of the Spark trailer and seeing Dack die, and possibly Liliana too, I came up with the theory that the planeswalkers from the Mythic Editions will die. I looked over it again and I feel that they all COULD die except for maybe Deretti and Dack as they seemed the most out of place to me, but now Dack is dead

Im planning already to use him for brawl or commander. Ive also already planned my cards to go with him. Its mostly artifacts right now that lets opponents draw cards which activate ob nixilis skill
How cool would it be for Ob Nixilis to run into Nahiri during her battle with Sorin (not like he needs it) and they team up to lay the smack down on her. Ob would then tell Sorin to join him in his plans of destruction and Sorin will tell him to fuck off but owes him one in the future, setting up a heel turn for Sorin at least temporarily.
They need to make a huge ass magic movie series
How powerful do you think these "beacons" are going to be that attract Planeswalkers? A thought had occurred to me. We get a new Angrath don't we? Like, he's gonna go to Ravnica? Well, I'm confused. After being trapped on Ixilan for so long and just recently being reunited with his daughters after so long, you'd think he would NEVER risk planeswalking anywhere else again unless there was a really major reason too.

So we get Khalni Heart Expedition, but we don't get the actual artifact of the flower itself, or perhaps a legendary plant. I feel this is a disservice and now I'm wondering what might have been. I saw this in my feed and just had to chime in.

Maybe as a result of Liliana Dying, Bolas will promise to turn Ob Nixilis back with the chain veil IF he would destroy the gatewatch from within. Kind of like a secret spy or something similar.

How do we know Dak was killed on the trailer? Maybe it was just his spark that was stolen?

Better is hard to say. He for sure has hundreds of years of experience to pull from which trumps Gideon. Ob has conquered several worlds through his strategies. That speaks a lot.
I feel like Dak isn't perminantly dead. They mysteriously left off with him going to the literal underworld of Theros. What was he doi g there? What did he take? An artifact of Athreos?
Also, off topic, but do you think we’ll see Garruk again? If so, how would you write him in? I kinda miss him
Jace planeswalks to some unknown plane for about an hour and then returns with Garruk. Garruk looks dead at bolas and smirks.
Showed Ob Nixilis' Cruelty to one of my friends, now she wants a copy to send as hate mail to her friend who plays Derevi. She specifically wanted to see the card because I mentioned he was torturing birds.
What exactly did he summon, a reiver demon? A dread cacodemon?

My far flung theory is that he helps kill Nahiri, becomes the acquaintance of Sorin (let’s be honest, even if they are kinda cut from the same cloth, they could never be friends), and eventually go on to ally with Garruk
After I finished watching this, I think I'm starting to like Ob Nixilis as a character
The moment I saw Ob Nixilis, the Fallen, I immediately thought he was Bo Levar. Just because Ob is Bo backwards. I thought maybe when he lost his spark, he did something to become a demon and he reversed his name out of anger/spite. Just my 2 cents.

No way in all of the multiverse is this Ob Nixilis better than the new Tibalt. Ob gives card advantage at the cost of a measly shock while Tibalt shuts out the plethora of life gain in standard.

He might stay passive in the fight, but he has no motivation to join Nicol Bolas and a lot to fight him.
