I am 50, born in Bergamo, Atalanta fan since early ‘80s and we were far from dreaming any match in Europe (for my generation). I feel blessed to have witnessed this game. In 117 years of our history we feel it an honour and a privilege to play at Anfield with crowd. It might not happen again, we need to enjoy every bit of it. We would have cheered even if we had lost, because even if you loose very badly you need to be there and many clubs would have liked to be at our place. Not only we did not loose, we won, you might take a victory for granted at your level. We don’t, I am fully aware L.F.C. can wipe us put in the second leg, but it is no reason for not enjoying a historical evening (for us). Anfield is a temple of football to many of us, we grew up with watching legendary football in this station. I wish you might understand the immense respect we have for the club, its immense history, the record it has it is the reason why this is the most prestigious achievement in our own experience of fan of our squad which is from a small provincial town. You can only see the celebration outside us, not what we feel within us. I could not sleep this night! We probably will never win anything but these events are like cups on the shelves for us. I wish I could pass a portion of my vibe to you so that you would understand what I mean. It will be an honour to welcome you to Bergamo for the second leg even if we loose and will be out. Unfortunately I will only be able to see it broadcasted by a tv but I will enjoy every minute of it. You’ll have certain glory and awards in future, we can never be sure of that.

Can't get Allison back quick enough. Kelleher is a good keeper but he's not in the same league as Allison. I'm pretty sure Allison would have stopped both the 1st and the 3rd goal Atalanta scored, but no one could have saved that 2nd goal. That was a case of us playing way too open - yet again. Klopp still hasn't learned from the draw against Utd, or the defeat vs this same opponent back in 2020.
I blame Klopp for this defeat, the tactics gave our team absolutely no control over the game. Good players don't suddenly turn into bad players, this setup completely sapped all the confidence out of them.
It's almost like Klopp can't wait to leave and is not putting as much effort in anymore.
The players should be ashamed performing like that no effort no energy no hope to lose like that at home is unacceptable. First time iv said it I don't see us winning the league 😭😭

for me salah has been so awful, but Diaz should have started and for a game like this even salah with his bad form, the first team was the worst team we have put out all season.

Not a liverpool fan but I was wondering what the reactions would be on this channel cause of how big it is. As Liverpool have been competitive in every competition this season I have watched them a lot and the last few games I dont actually think they have played very well, they are missing a lot of chances and it’s coming back to bite them. I was so convinced their Keeper saved Nunez 1v1 chance, I could not believe, he missed the goal by some yards. I don't understand how Gomez stayed on the pitch, Elliott hooked even though him and Gakpo were the best players from the first half. Also it's on Klopp's for putting that line up, we were dead on feet and we never managed to control the midfield.

I know it seems a bit arrogant, but if we can play that utterly shambolically and still miss a 1v1, have a disallowed goal, hit crossbar/post, Jota miss 2 sitters, plus Kelleher threw 2 of their goals in, I hardly think it can be called a 'masterclass' from the opponent. Playing against man marking and having two slowest players in Elliot and Gakpo on the wings. Never questioned Klopp before in his Liverpool time, but what the hell was he thinking with that selection???
Elliott and Gakpo were our two most dangerous attackers today. Man marking is for buildup and stopping the ball getting into the final third, not about attackers being dangerous.

I didn't think they played badly, those two were actually quite decent you're right. But I still think you need a little bit of pace against that defence, especially when we try to go long or play 1v1 and both of them like to come for the ball and never take their man on.
@@amarthered For me the bigger problem was the fullbacks. We looked much more of a threat once Robbo came on (he was the reason we beat Sheffield too). Gomez just isn't a real RB. There were so many times he got the ball in a central position and had to play it wide for Salah when it should be the other way around!
Also when Gomez gets it centrally he can't cross like Trent so all he can do is either shoot poorly or hope someone else is out wide.
The fans in the stadium should also feel ashamed. No atmosphere tonight, you lot only sing when you feel like it, not when the team needs you!

@DaveSCameron Liverpool. It frustrates me because it's so hard to get tickets to watch games. When I go, I sing my heart out because it's a privilege to watch Liverpool live. Most of the regular match day going fans seem to have forgotten how lucky they are and take it for granted. I think there's no denying it might have lifted the team last night if the home fans were actually up for it!

Jones just came back from injury, plays two bad halfs of football and some people act like "he's a squad player at best!" You can't make this shit up. Before his injury he was playing like one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

First of all, the team selection by Klopp was poor today, this is an Italian team, they play physical so you don't play soft players like Jones and Harvey Elliott, Atlanta Midfield players would just run them over. Klopp didn't learn from the Man U FA cup game where he withdrew his key midfield players and Liverpool end up losing the game.
Liverpool spent all the time playing the ball at their own back end of the field, back passes upon back passes with few attacks.
Am I never a big fan of back passes, especially when Atlanta was playing so aggressive, sooner or later mistakes are going to happen?

It started with the crowd and ended with all the players and the manager. The ground is supposed to be a fortress and the crowd let us down. I worry that this is start of players looking to the next manager and next season

we have been this awful since fa cup game against utd, but then it was the attack that was an issue cus we did create chances, now, it was every part of the pitch that was the issue. I have not seen a game in a while where I didn't see us scoring except for something lucky, like we can't create even convincing chances right now, let alone finish them off. We play like we did in the beginning of the season when we were still quite awful but somehow got over the line. How are we crumbling right now at the most crucial part, and the crumbling started with the utd defeat, we have been shite since, especially our attack. The first 11 selection killed the game off. That half we threw away, I still don't know what the reason for that starting 11 was, it makes no sense. We had some awful performances this season but this was a cowardly and immature performance at best.

Hearing the home crowd chant Nunez' name as he came off was infuriating to me. The level of adulation he gets is absolutely beyond me. One purple patch in two seasons, no real progression as a player, same mistakes time and again. I think we have to accept that it's just not working out for him at LFC and we need to move him on. And, yes, plenty of criticism to go around over the last three matches, but he's just not the one, folks. Cut him loose.

This is Liverpools problem. We have strikers who cannot finish. Check out all our stats after or during games. Shots off target is always way more than on target. Mostly by about 3:1. Nunez, Diaz utter shite! All the missed chances during games and we have to go till 90 mins plus to get the win. Exerting all energy even to beat the bottom teams. We never win comfortable coz the top 3 cannot finish. Mo is unfortunately past his best almost. Hes been brilliant this past 7 years. 👏🏻💪🏻 Its up to the young lads and both Nunez and Diaz cannot finish. The wing backs then push all the way up forward trying to help the failing attack score and then we get caught out on the counter with 4 on 2 at times. All this effort every game and we are then gassed out end of season. Look at the 2020 team. Salah, Mane, Bobby. Goals galore! Proper finishers! Games won by half time most weeks. Then make the subs and rest the lads. Overall its a worse squad than 2020 in terms of finishing and defending Vvd and Mo's age saddens me too. Not long left. Another rebuild looming for the new manager 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Gomez, Nunez, Gakpo, Diaz Tsimikas out!!!

Maybe this bodes well for the next manager. If we have a crap end to the season, it will arguably make his job easier. I can't see an Amorim team defending as badly as we have done the past half dozen games or so. Defences win Leagues, which is why my confidence level that we'll win anything other than the cheaplagercup is medium to low.

Atalanta basically just did exactly the same as when they won 0-2 in the covid season of course that result didn't matter it was a dead rubber match, but it seems Klopp learned nothing from the tactics Gasperini would employ. One thing the new manager needs to have is a plan for low block counter attack teams....Because Klopp sure as hell doesn't have one.

MacAllister is the best player Liverpool have ATM, Salah has been great but now he's obviously done, Szobo maybe?, TAA could become something special - we'll see.... Robertson always puts in a shift but he getting on.......and that's about it. The defence is not fit for purpose and neither is the front 3. Don't get me started on Darwin Missalot - with a conversion rate of 11% (Haarland is 26% by comparison).....and you can't get far without a decent striker. I like Jota, but he's never fit.The rest is really bench material - good, but not THAT good. Klopp kept it together with match tactics and planning, but tonight you saw what was really there......I hope Amorim gets some money to buy some class.....

Watching the game again, I think the lack of athleticism killed us. Endo in particular was targeted. He's so slow its painful. He is a squad player, that's it. Jones was rusty too. Both full backs (Tsimikas and Gomez) were asleep for the first two goals. First signing for the new fella in the summer has to be a top (mobile) DM. A quality finisher would be another priority.
I might sound ungrateful but sometimes I can’t stand this team. After talk of a quadruple, it’s looking increasingly likely that we’re gonna end up with nothing but the league cup. Too many draws, missed chances, not beating a poor United team once all season (those two draws in particular could cost us the title), bottling it when it really matters. All these things are gonna turn what could have been an incredible season into a very disappointing one!

Man when we had all those injuries our youngsters stepped up and we actually played better. Maybe bring them back. I think the elder players are under pressure trying to win everything for klopps send off. If they can just relax a little and just enjoy each game our performance will naturally improve but I'm now thinking it could be too late for that 😢
You need to look at what happens in the final third, from what I see is Diaz and Nunez are so erratic that it breaks down, mane and firminio were so clinical. Liverpool need a clinic incoming

Yes you're correct with everyone up front not being clinical enough but I think they all go through phases and dips in form. Liverpool have won once against a top 6 side this season, they can beat mid table teams but can't do anything against teams who are a similar level. The players are too comfortable and the last 4 weeks has been awful, talk about urgency and a hunger to win there is none, its so casual and has been for the last year or so relying on clutch goals or individual moments, DIaz, Gakpo, Elliot and Nunez's output as forward players are terrible and unfortunately Jota is injury prone, the people wanting Salah sold need to be looked at. Yes he has had a bad few games but no one else apart from Macalister has actually turned up, Szoboslai and Gravenberch do not fit the system, since Edwards left the transfers have been sub par. Yes Macallister is a good buy and Julian Ward did that deal but apart from Endo the rest have not improved or done much and these players don't turn up in high pressure moments, yeah its good to beat Sheffield United 3-1 but 2-2 vs United when Bournemouth beat them 3-0 at home....yet fans still play oh its a hard game rubbish, just like Everton, yeah they are big games but play the game not the occasion. I said last summer there needs to be Salah depth on the right and a clinical striker bought in Jan and everyone laughed at me. Now, Liverpool are at the business end of a season once again and on the verge of throwing two more titles away.
