    Really appreciate you going out of the way and editing the video in the order most people come for. Most of us would watch the entire thing regardless, but knowing that the small touch of putting the sounds first opposed to the talk makes it more meaningful.

    On a 5.0 XKR I've gone a slightly different route to release the decibels.
    Swapped the centre section with it's resonators for an XKR-S X-pipe section from e-bay (£150) and then fitted some custom manufactured 200 cell Magnaflow cats (£750 fitted). Retained the original back box and valves.
    This releases an awesome amount of sound, doesn't drone or resonate within the car and still retains the option of stealth mode when not in dynamic mode. The exhaust system itself remains as a Jaguar OE set of parts so fit up is simple.
    On full throttle through a tunnel / underpass it's ear shattering ...... absolutely love it! Multi storey car parks love me!
    I believe Adamesh sell an X-pipe section and any quality custom exhaust manufacturer can make up the cat section.
    Car passes emissions without trouble although occasionally (every 2-3000 miles) I get a low cat efficiency error which is cleared with a basic Machine Mart code reader.

    Another great Video, thank you. I have a black 2007 XKR too, here in Australia and want to upgrade the exhaust. Its so hard to find any 'useful' info out there to help make an informed decision. Unlike yours, most other exhaust vids I see are short and uninformative. Keep up the good work!

  • @driverslineocsz4418
    @driverslineocsz4418 Před 3 lety +2

    Superb choice and again the resonance is so amazing. I reckon that Jaguar’s soundproofing basically asked you to change the exhaust as a testament of how well it’s done.Looking at your previous review I was expecting that.
    Definitely agree that upgrading the exhaust (properly) gets the car to sound how it’s supposed to sound, but econ rules are so strict (especially in the states, most imported cars are governor restricted and reworked because of safety). Hard to believe in places that have more straight roads with barely any elevation has more accidents than anywhere else, so the need to combat this, safer cars are needed.

    Did this to my XFR it now sounds like a thunderstorm when driven hard. Lost a couple of MPG. With the windows up cruising its not too noticable. I will get it set up and mapped on a rolling road after fitting a top pulley next. Which should get the MPG back and any lost performance, but to be honest I've not noticed any loss of power

    • @DanielSadjadian
      @DanielSadjadian Před rokem

      Does it not also depend on the person doing the MOT? I've had CAT-back exhausts on my cars in the past and they still passed their MOTs. I swear some testers are a little more lenient with exhaust mods, as long as it's not obnoxiously loud.

    As a guy who has deleted mufflers on both my '13 Tahoe and '18 Escalade (got videos on my channel), and before that on my 3l BMWs and stuff, I completely agree - muffler delete is the best option for awesome exhaust sound, as long as there is no drone. If there is - installation of a resonator is always a good fix for that.
    I'm currently thinking of getting a '96-'06 Jaguar XKR, and I will definitely go for a muffler delete if I get it. V8 needs to be heard, otherwise what's the purpose of it?)
    But currently I'm studying how to make the supercharger whine louder, because that's kinda the main reason I want to get an XKR (well, other than its looks, of course).

    • @HSGAutomotive

    Thanks for the video. I have experimented with a few exhausts on my 2012 5.0L XK Convertible. Initially I fitted an XKR backbox with the side valves removed (with XKR rear valance to allow for the quad tips). See: czcams.com/video/Q6PBMYGHSGc/video.html
    This was fine but it sounded 'flatulent' under power with a harsh note and I wanted a lower note altogether. I tried the Elite backbox which gave more performance but was too loud on long journeys, so I refitted the XKR box. I then tried the Adamesh centre X-pipes (with no muffler) and this droned at low speed, so I went back to stock centre pipes. I then tried the Spires backbox which was also too loud and 'flatulent' under power.
    I've just fitted the Larini backbox which sounds perfect - slightly higher volume than the stock XKR, lower note and no 'flatulence' under throttle - perfect 'notes' all the way up the revs.
    I'm now thinking of adding the Larini centre pipes...

      There are valves at the back end of the exhaust system which block off two of the four outlets to reduce volume at low speeds. If you remove the fuse between the rear seats, the flaps stay open all the time
