Three minutes in and Kit is already having PTSD from the army's incompetence.
I'm looking at him knowing he was in the marines and I just feel so bad for him, he looks depressed and empty, and righty so cause fuck me, the amount of stories from the early 2000s of the militaries incompetence was just outrageous. I understand this it's still common, but not as bad as before.
Mind you, I'm still not and and probably will never be in the military
@@CyberShink Neither will I, but holy fuck we've all heard horror stories from someone that's been and it just makes you say "How the fuck is it still working if it's this incompetent"
@@krakixel I know right, my guess is just they silence so much from the media to not hear about any of it (perfect example the entire conflict of the Vietnam war) and the stuff we hear are from individual veterans and not say an entire company, battalion or even a high ranking general
@@CyberShink Nothing has changed. I was in from 15-18 Active Duty. from 18 til now with the NG, got one month left. The entire time I was active duty, leadership was fucking incompetent. Made life hell for us, morale was low, and leadership would throw anyone under the bus. And if they ever fucked up, they were never held accountable like low ranks are. Sad part is, my time in the National Guard, my unit has had more discipline, more morale, more structure and leaders gave a fuck because they didn't like playing stupid games like my old unit did

It’s been awhile since I could feel such “I could run you down in the street and not shed a tear” contempt and hatred for someone I’ve never met, but this Chief fucker qualifies. People need to know who the hell this chucklefuck is, seriously.
Part of me hopes that something as stupid as what happened to E-4 Zach is only exclusive to Fort Polk and no other United States Army installation/training post.

Fun fact - it was stated by Mr. Ramsay that the reason he honed such a load to bear that he'd utilize to come down on the contestants falling behind in that show, though there is undoubtedly some amount of playing it up because hey, it's a *show*, is that the things he's haranguing them about are the absolute basics. This is simultaneously why he's so golden-hearted on the kid-contestant show. Kids are kids, they are literally learning. It makes no sense to be mad towards them.
The full-bore, however, takes in professional chefs. Professionals. Put simply, they have no right to be committing these mistakes if they have the competency they claim to have. Stress, fear, misplaced ingredients, none of that matters because the premise of that show is to not only put them under the spotlight and see what mistakes are there that shouldn't be, but let a viewer-audience see it all and learn what not to do.
All in all, obviously Mr. Ramsay is angry at mistakes, but he is wise and does speak sense.
I love how Kit had the exact expression that Zack described on the faces of the folks at anger management from the moment Zack started talking.
12:45 Man, in my last year, my office asked if I wanted to go back to MOS school for additional training. I told them no because I was getting out in less than a year and it would be a waste of money. Fair enough, they said, and decided to send a sergeant who planned on reenlisting. That sergeant - after it had been decided he was going - decided to take leave that overlapped. So his leave was approved and they sent me back to the Defense Information School instead of any of the other Marines who planned on staying in with another guy who learned how to write news articles from me.
So at one point, one of our assignments was to look at these packets of information and quotes and use them to construct a news article. The instructors looked at these basically pre-made articles constructed from the usable parts of these packets that were half-full of unusable garbage and went, 'Hmm. Well these two from the guys who came from the same unit and likely use the same unit-specific rules look alike. We should send this up the chain.' So the school looked at these two articles constructed by two guys who came from the same unit and went "Well they know each other. This must be plagiarism; they clearly cheated," and kicked us out. And the rest of that year was not fun.
Two words: Camp Lejeune.
It isn't Fort Polk bad, but it's up there.
Any time I hear Camp Lejeune I immediately think of Regular Car Reviews and I don't even remember which video it was in.
Glad you reacted to this one, it’s one of my favourites, high-speed. If there’s one thing these campfire stories have taught me, it’s that Fort Polk is the dirt worst.
Edit: also Kit slowly losing it over the course of the story is a thing of beauty.

It seemed to me like Camp Lejeune was his Fort Polk.
From what I have heard, I’m very sure that when the chief discovered that you cannot put humvee parts into those cabinets he would be blaming Mikeburnside for “ordering the wrong cabinets.”
What is more likely is that he saw the cabinets, wanted the cabinets, knew he could not simply order an underling to relinquish the cabinets for personal use, and came up with the “humvee” parts bullshit on the fly to make it halfway-official.
In the words of the NCR soldiers "Killing you would be worth the court martial".
Those cabinets he stole ended up getting used as target practice on the firing range. Because it wasn't completely corruption in motivation, it was also pure stupidity.

I'm like one of the nicest guys, I'm understanding, try to see things from other perspectives and I'd have absolutely snapped. Forget the innocent wall locker, I'd have hit the Chief Ash ole.

I have a funny military-related story.
So my brother was in the US Army Rangers for, like 8 years or so, I think? Anyway, he only got injured one time, and that was when they were on a firing range. A ricochet hit him in the throat, right above the collar bone, dead center. He was fine, he was even talking to his buddies while they waited for the ambulance. But the little jackass told our mother in the worst way possible. He just sent her a text that was something like "Got shot in the neck, lol. On my way to the hospital."
I think my poor mother aged 10 years right there.
My brother was really bad about telling us anything at the time, so we were frequently unsure if he was in the States or overseas at any given time. That text was probably the first thing Mom had heard from him in months.
I like how the marine gives off the look of relatable dread and sympathy
So far, every single Vet I’ve seen react to Zach is like
“We understand your pain, brother. We understand it so bad.”

I like the campfire stories. They help me fall asleep just listening to them.

A company is usually at least 100 enlisted, divided into 3 platoons. Hmmm each platoon is usually commanded by an Lt under a company commander who are under a battalion commander... 6 companies is usually TWO battalions. A battalion is at least two companies... so six companies, he was probably supporting TWO battalions... BY HIMSELF!!!

So when I want to military school the personnel breakdown was a company was 4-5 platoons, a platoon was 3 units, and a unit was 3 squads, a squad was 3-4 men... So 6 companies would be Minimum of 648 people and a maximum of 1080 people. That's a lot of firearms to maintain with no help, advice, or guidance.
When I got out of highschool I would have nightmares about the school calling me and saying that I didn't get all of my required credits, and I would have to go back. The first dream I had of that I laughed and just hung up on them.
Kitchen work ain't no joke I used to be a Dishie at a few kitchens literally 5-8 hours of constant dishes, and God almighty the pots THE POTS!!!!!
I got called by the company clerk a week after I got out of the army. 🤣

at the end kit was talking about the fact that humvee parts wouldn't fit in a weapons cabinet and the thing is is that there are alot of very small parts that would fit in one of those cabinets just go into any vehicle and look under the hood and you will see that most of the bigger parts are just made up of alot of smaller parts for example (just off the top of my head) belts would easily fit as well as any of the nuts and bolts that are needed though there should of already been more than enough bolt bins and other spaces to store what little there was needed to be stored so that guy who took the cabinets wanted them for something else and it had nothing to do with storing the parts for a humvee

One customers are needy if there ice needs to be remade and bitchin so much on were there ice cream and there chocolate shakes are and sometimes i would want to say go make it yourself and I can't do it because of customer service and reasons. And I get blame all the time it's not my fault . It's kitchens fault and it's Sunday bars fault plus my current boss doesn't no anything

Just learned today that Fort Polk was renamed quite recently in this the year of our Emperor of Mankind 2023 to Fort Johnson, after a Harlem Hellfighter from WW1 instead of Polk who was a Confederate general and I totally approve. No wonder that place was a pisshole. Maybe with a better name the installation can become one iota better than its been 😅 but I wont hold out hope
