- Why do you hear boss music?
Because, coming your way in Terraria 1.4.5 will be all new boss music for some of your favorite Terraria boss encounters.
Here's a sneak peek (listen) at the brand new track for The Twins!
---
The Twins - by Scott Lloyd Shelly/Resonance Array
Copyright 2023: Re-Logic, Inc. - Hry
If each mechanical boss gets a theme, then summoning them all at once should totally be a mashup of all three.
That would kick fucking ass! 🤘
Or better yet we get a mechdusa theme and that plays when we summon all three
The Destroyer already has its own theme... but it just so happens to share that theme with the Brain of Cthulhu when that boss was added much later along with the Crimson.
Genius idea
you mean like overlapping 3 tracks at once? that wouldnt sound good..
I like how The Twins new theme is more non organic and very metallic/mechanical, fit with The Twins as a Mechanical Boss!
Yeah, I love boss 2 because of how it really sounds like something that fits the wall of flesh (and because it's literally fire), and this theme for the twins works better for them (and is also great)
@@neoncat6820Agree
No way you listened to the twins boss music and thought that this sounds less organic.
its more organic with mechanical elements at the beginning, and then gets much more mechanical, which is a lot like the bosses themselves
@@poloniumpigeon I Agree
i think relogic is the only dev team that doesnt suck at their own game
if you mean the gameplay, that was chippy
@@AaronGaming1066 aww you ruined it for me :c
@@even_cooler_name_w_israel Don't worry buddy, the footage may be chippy, but the devs themselves definitely still outclass half of their playerbase in skill, that much we've seen from the trailers they occasionally show us. No way a dev team that isn't passionately good at their own game can create works with such amazing labours of love.
@greninjathefrog And thats why I honestly think they are some of the best game devs ever, because unlike big companies, they constantly play their own game. All the devs did a getfixedboi world to test it out, they know how the game is supposed to feel unlike other game devs that just make a game and leave it like that. Red, Cenx, and all the other devs are one with the community.
Unfortunately, play testing your own game is not a good way to tell if your game is good. It usually takes the perspective of a 3rd party individual who has no experience in the game. With the get fixed boi seed however, only experienced players would actually load the seed so the devs were free to test it themselves and fine tune it
The air might get colder, but this beat is keeping me warm 🔥🔥🔥

Exactly!
Yea it feels mechanical and calculated
Fitting for the predictable twins
The silent observers
Bruh, I didn't hear the beginning of boss 2 here 😒
the twins aren't half as hyperactive as you guys think when you really look at it. this theme kicks ass
This new theme fits then perfectly. Slow, but looming and threateaning. Which fits The Twin's being this rather predictable and slow, but incredibly deadly boss, especially if too early on hardmode.
Exactly what I'm saying bro, it will probably feel perfect while you're actually fighting them. All of you who are saying it doesn't fit should wait
the only time the twins feel hectic is when you dont pay attention and remember the patterns. this applys to duke fishron too, since people cried about his theme alot too

i'm now hoping that we get custom boss music for EVERY boss in the game hearing this.
like god damm this hits hard.
Edit: so what I mean by this is almost every boss gets a custom track, the original boss tracks get set for what boss it was made for, example EOC gets boss 1, The destroyer gets Boss 3 (yes boss 3 was made for The destroyer I didn't even know that myself TBH), but I'd like to think that they remix the tracks so every boss feels new, BUT there would be a setting in the sound menu that lets you toggle between the original tracks and the new ones.
please!!!!
We don't need custom boss music for every boss. But if re-logic wants it then okay. But I don't want to overwork them
Maybe every hardmode boss? Just so the old boss music stays relevant
The only bosses left are king slime, skeletron prime, destroyer and lunatic cultist (if the original 3 bosses all keep boss 1) so it is possible
@@meloneater4630 keep the destroyer, but just change the frost legion and torch god, + brain of cthulhu
This is insane if every boss got new music (but with boss 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 still kept for a boss) then this will be absolutely perfect.
If they were to keep the old themes, it would most likely be for pre hardmode bosses, it would only make sence
Or maybe each new boss music box can be shimmered to get the old version
Boss 1 for king slime
Boss 2 for eye of cthulu
Boss 3 for brain of cthulu
Idk remember what boss 4 is
Boss 5 for lunatic cultist

@@TheNaper I thought so!
I had the same thought as most people, it feels slow. Feels like an event theme. I think it’d be cool if each twin had their own solos playing simultaneously, which get more intense in phase 2 and cut out when they die. It’d add a nice touch to the battle. Excited for 1.4.5 ❤️
This is exactly what I was thinking
Yeah I was thinking about that too. I'm like, it sounds creepy and Eerie like how the twins should be but still has somewhat of an epic feel so you're thinking about wanting to fight it, while still staying true to terraria's Classic soundtrack feel. But yes it is quite slow. I agree it would be cool as an event theme. Though I wonder why realogic never offered DM dokuro a job opportunity to write their music. Could you imagine if he worked on Terraria soundtracks as well
@@HaydenJohnski While his themes for calamity are amazing, they are sadly a bit over the top and not in the simple music notes that terraria uses
@@theultimatetrashman887 yeah, i guess you're right. Still it would be cool to hear what they would sound like if he did a redux of the ost.
it's not too slow,it's eerie and threatening,it fits perfectly. Don't know why y'all are expecting an adhd theme for them
3:58 to the end is, like, the best representation of the The Twins' speed, weirdness, and mechanical nature. Almost sounds like the theme to some creepy UFO that is chasing you.
The music is fire. My only issue with it is that it always sounds like it's building up to do a heavy drop, but it never happens. Would love if something like that gets added in post production.
I've noticed a lot of the terraria music is ambient in structure (Even tension, never drops) but it always feels like something is coming. I first felt like this when hearing the new underground desert theme.
@@vaukest5888I can remix them

I cannot believe how amazing this track is. I was excited for a twins theme alone, but this knocks it out of the park!
I like how they re-used some motifs from Boss 1 (Eye of Cthulhu) music, for example at 0:57
I’m pretty sure I heard some boss 2 motifs too
I love the brief drum loop around 0:28, really wish it was used more later on in the song to ramp up the pace in conjunction with how sporadic the Twins get
The double kick is amazing
You know it kinda sounds like a mix between boss 1, boss 2, and boss 3 now.

And a little sprinkle of hell theme.
I also kinda hear the goblin invasion too

This track is amazing! I think it’s a little slow and I was expecting a “phase two” where the song picks up in pace and the beat gets stronger once the twins change forms, but other than that I think it fits them perfectly
THIS
This song is great but it’s much slower paced than the old boss 2 theme, and the song speeding up for each phase of the fight would make it way more intense and just be incredible
I think that slowness makes it feel more like a biome music or event music than a boss music tbh. Still a great song tho
@@supercool_saiyan5670uuuh no many boss themes are like this if you listen closely

Boss 2 theme was iconic and fit perfectly, the rattle at the start really gave you a chill along with the "this will be a horrible night" text. The twins have always held a special place in my heart. Years ago I saw them as an impassable wall, I could never seem to beat them. I remember the feeling of bliss I had when I finally did. Also that fact that I myself am a twin has made it one of my favorites purely for that fact I share a similarity with it. The fact that they are getting new music makes me think we might see new music for some other bosses as well.
Does your twin brother/sister play Terraria too?
@@roman108 Yup! Although not as often as I do, or did. To be 100% honest I have not actually sat down and played for longer than 5 min in a few months. I have done pretty much everything so far. I have the zenith, I beat every boss on every difficulty, I have a rod of harmony. Heck, ive beaten Ocram, Turkor, and Lepus. I played back then, and to this day Turkor is still my 2nd favorite terraria boss of all time. Unfortunately I can only play on mobile, so I cant really play with anyone else besides my brother. Im currently saving up money to buy the game on steam (finally got a PC!) so I can play the game with my friends when the update drops. The Twins are a very methodical boss, attacking in sync and in a very defined pattern, not in a chaotic manner like skeletron or forceful manner like destroyer. This theme absolutely does fit with the Twins

I like this song, but the slower pace of it doesn't fit the twins that well in my opinion. The twins are FAST. They move fast and shoot fast, and the fight is very frantic since you're fighting two bosses at once. This theme is deeper and slower, which I feel like would fit the destroyer or even an event perfectly, but I think the twins deserve something else.
Put it on 1.25 it fits so much better when sped up.
@@DaHypnotik I was just about to say this lol
I think it would still work if you were actually fighting it, we don't know for sure if its fast or not compared to the twins, because we aren't actually fighting it.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if the lunatic cultist got his own theme
"this is gonna be a terrible night" proceed to show a banger music
Terraria soundtrack never misses. I love a feel this one gives. I know everyone got used to boss 2, and the twins to them are associated with something fast and aggressive but let me explain why is this also fits.
When you're first time facing twins, you remember your first boss - the eye of ctulhu. The twins seem to be some kind of eoc species? For now they are the same as eoc, just a bit projectiles and a bit different attack scheme. Music is giving a throwback to boss 1 (the sounds from the end of boss 1 for example), a bit mechanical vibe (especially if the twins are not your first mech boss) and also the dreadfull crimson from your first and even late days (or similar EOW ost part). You are waiting for something to happen. This is a hardmode boss afterall. Music keeps you feel like you're facing something dreadfull, yet the twins doesn't seem to be too hard? And then the 2nd fase kicks in and you understand that NOW shit got real. You are entering a sweaty gamer mode, cuz you need to dodge n stuff, you get it, and the music still keeps you tightly focused with its tension. You now understand what was that all about.
Can't wait for other new boss themes. The more bosses getting unique soundtrack, the better
[There are probably grammar mistakes here, I'm fixing them sometimes]
It's not bad but its too slow
@@DylBro101if it was faster, it wouldn't give that tension and feel that something menacing is against you in the way it does now
Nice comment!
i hope they added for skeletron prime that will be sick.
@@rly__Lwg That's not true at all. There is tons of boss music that is both gritty and fast paced. Being menacing does not mean it has to be slow. The feeling of something being menacing is caused by dissonance in the music, it's easier to hear it if the music is slow and you have more time to process it but not at all necessary. This song is objectively slower than average boss music in tempo and doesn't really have fast short notes to compensate.
It's good but like others have said it doesn't really match the tension you have when you actually fight these bosses. Even though it may not look fast paced, it feels like it when playing
Feels like it could stand to have a bit of a higher bpm in my opinion given how sporadic the twins are in the first place, just to give the sense that you're fighting something intently aggressive, while still being coordinated and unpredictable at the same time.
At the very least give it more of a sense that you're technically fighting two bosses at once, unlike every other boss in the game where, it's just one boss and that's it, so it makes sense for them to have one consistent theme, where here it would make sense for the twins to have conflicting, merged, or differing sections of the song. Of course it should sound the same overall, but it should have parts that signify both Retinazer and Spazmatism individually, like harsh, rough, slightly uncoordinated tones and instruments, with a rock or metal theme to it for Spaz, while also having light and constant, predictable and uplifting sounding instruments in other parts, maybe something akin to classical or jazz to give a sense of control and coordination, and of course a mashup or mixup of the two to very clearly show the idea that while they are two different bosses, there is no single better one, while at the same time still prominently showing they both have their upsides and downsides respective to each other.
I dunno I mean it might just be me but it just doesn't really give off the sense of fighting two similar but completely different bosses at the same time, plus just the fact that it doesn't feel energetic enough to represent both of them. Which, you would at least expect compared to their organic counterpart(s) given they are literally mechanical and with seemingly unending power until they die.
@@awereliayour idea is way better
@@awerelia yeah it's weird they didn't do more with this considering how unique and experimental Terraria's soundtrack is in general

This song really does fit more with the feeling of seeing, "This is going to be a terrible night"
It took me 2 months but I finally found it - segment that starts at 00:21 - its so damn uncanny similar to Pony Island OST "Enter Pony". Part of me wishes this ain't a coincidence.

i really like this song, but i think its missing the same fast-paced intensity of boss theme 2, which i think suited it the best. this is still great though, really excited to see other bosses finally get their own theme.
100% agree, the first minute is perfect but the rest is a bit too slow
The song should speed up with each phase of the fight
I’m gonna miss having Boss 2 blast in my ears while tightly evading the twins attacks but OH MY GOD THIS GOES SO HARD

sounds much better at 1.25 speed, it really fits the twins as you're fighting not only something that is fast, but unpredictable and can easily break your balance
Yeah, read it on another video and it's true
It better fits the chaotic nature of the fight.
I agree with it being faster fitting the twins. I'm playing this at a custom speed of 1.15, In my opinion that speed sounds better, but 1.25 fits too.

Nice to hear new music!
hope this means all the mechanical boss tracks get some love, modern terraria music is insanely good
SPrime might get its own theme, considering the fact that he shares Boss 1 with 4 other bosses. my guess is that the destroyer is keeping Boss 3 for itself because Boss 3 was made specifically for the destroyer at first, and the brain of cthulhu and frost legion are each getting their own new theme. as for Boss 1, i think the eye of cthulhu is keeping it because it just fits so well. king slime, eater of worlds, and skeletron all seem like they could use some unique themes.

this new twins theme song is amazing, for some reason it really becomes something that suits them
I love how you can hear hints of boss 2 and moonlord theme mixed in there with the new mechanical/techno sounding track.
The more techno focused remix of the original Eye’s theme was a clever move. Fits the harder robotic variants perfectly.
I have this song in my playlist and I get jump scared each time the song starts with that roar.
I honestly find that Boss 2 theme fits better. It always felt "jumpy" and "rough" with a nice ominous bit that fits the twins tomfoolery perfectly in my opnion
Yeah but like... Having a mechanical boss have the same track as the wof is kinda weird (mechanical and flesh) and also lazy. Like no offense to re-logic, I'm sure they had very low budget, or no and it was just them making the music, producers to make the songs originally. Glad their going back and adding tracks. Makes each boss more unique.
Boss 2 is simply to much very ultra iconic to the twins, you get in the midset of "damn, something hard is aproaching" it almost scares you boss 2 but this thing simply feel weird
thats why the wall of fresh flesh and the 2 goffy eyes are my favorite bosses@@HyperDash47
@@HyperDash47imo Boss 2 is not a theme centered around flesh nor mechanics, its a theme centered around speed. Wall of Flesh actively chases the player down through the underworld, and the twins constantly dash forward and shoot projectiles at the player. With Boss 2, you always feel as if you need to go fast in order to survive. From 0:00 to 0:26, if almost feels like you are caught off guard. @@AmGaming-qd8vo I never said it was centered around flesh or mechanical. It's just weird that they are both the same. That being said, I would still like a new track. The music sounds awesome, but I think Boss 2 was a better fit for being a lot more fast-paced, something this new track is lacking. Still, I think these new tracks are going to be a great change. Keep up the good work!
Yeah, this would be better for something like Destroyer
You can swap the theme if you want
Exactly, this is a lot slower paced, but I do want every boss to have an individual theme
It would be so good if the song sped up each time and eye changed to phase 2, it would be way more intense than it is currently
@@hburners361Yeah but it feels more legitimate when the devs themselves picked the song
It's true that the beginning isn't as aggressive and panic inducing as boss 2, but that's because the twins aren't the gorey hellborn wall of flesh. Instead they are the Unstoppable mechanical menace, programmed to rip you to shreds, steadily approaching your approximate location, because why hurry when the outcome will be the same eitherway.
I won't lie, my favorite part of fighting the twins was getting to hear the wall of flesh theme (boss 2) again but this one still slaps.
also, apparently re-logic doesn't take out Spasmatism firts before targeting Retanazer. what a flex.
Lot of people are saying how theyd like if there were 2 melodies playing a top each other representing both twins but that allready is there.
0:21 starts with Retinizer fast based and calculative Lazer esc sounds. Being more focused and tactive than spasmatism. The song however isint slow for Retinezer for Spasma is agressive yes but especially in phase 2 when Retinizer starts to rabit fire you can tell the more fast phased one of the Twins is Retinezer.
and then Spasmatism Joins in at 0:27 being looming and raspier like slowly spreading fire. Being the main attacker and protecting Retinizer wich is why his instrument is infront of Retinizer.
Retinizers theme is giving Spasmatisms theme background suport just like retinizer suports spasmatism in the fight itself.
1:04 - 1:27 is Retinizers Phase 2 solo. Being Fast based and even more mechanical sounding with glitchy tecno sounds. The theme shows the hectic nature of Stigmatism, having to dodge and weave throw rabit fire lazers throw the fight. As it gets more and more desperate to destroy you.
1:34 - 1:56 Spasmatisms theme has gone from the looming ominous raspy force into straight intimitation and preasure. Forcing the player to avoid Spamatism or be burned and Shred to pieces. The Steam sounds represent Spasmatisms Core going into over drive due to its fast speed and creation of a powerful fire breath.

Try setting the speed to 1.25x and see how it looks better.

I'm so glad that "Journey's End" was not the final update, music in Terraria has always been one of my favorite parts of the game and oh boy this one is so good!
tbf, 1.4.1-5 are still part of journey's end, but true, it's nice they still keep on going
This is such a cool one. I love it a lot. Please do more
I did not know this existed until now. been missing out fr
OH MY GOD??? A THEME EXCLUSIVE TO THE TWINS??? GOOD LORD THIS IS AMAZING!!!
There's more. >:)
gonna be more**
Do you like a crimson music?
@@lovie_minor noooo....
I love this and it’s amazing, but it’s a little slow compared to the old song, I would LOVE if you could actually make the song speed up slightly when an eye reaches its second phase, and maybe even faster for the second one transforming? That would make it SO much more intense of a fight it would be so cool!
This 1000%!!!
But the old music was also kind of slow, it start fast but then slowed down. In this new version, the fast pace remains longer
i mean, i feel like the music getting faster as the fight goes on doesn't make much sense since, unlike something like the wall of flesh, the twins become a complete joke once one of them is taken out
it's like skeletron and skeletron prime, it starts off the hardest but once the arms are down it's easy
@@fortnitesexman it kinda does though, I mean when the twins reach its second phase it starts getting intense which fits boss 2 perfectly
This is absolutely fire, needs to be a bit more chaotic to really fit the double boss fight, would fit more in something like the EoC or king slime fight
I want to note that the song itself is divided into two parts. In the first part, the main role is taken by the Retinizer with its laser motifs, and later the theme changes to Spasmatism with a heavy deaf motif. The music in the Terraria will always be on top!
Absolutely love the change at 0:57, great work once again!
i really hope that with the new boss themes, brain of cthulhu gets a new track and the destroyer keeps the old one. i think it's super iconic at this point
yeah the theme really fits with the chaos of the destroyer fight, would be a shame for it to be replaced
brain of cthulhu could have this hypnotic vibe, kinda like martian madness or the lunar pillar music, just more focused on a trippy feeling instead tho.
I feel that this song sounds similar to the destroyer theme so that’s probably the plan
@@cogbait I'm not 100% sure but I think the plan is to give every boss its own theme (Frost Legion is probably an exception unless they plan on reworking it).
That theme fits perfectly with the destroyer, it’s like a straight up apocalypse theme and an enormous metal worm rampaging through your world and towns with all the drones flying around just fit with that theme SO well, it’s a slower paced fight and is really unique for the destroyer
Not so much the brain, the brain should have a song that feels like the crimson, though to be perfectly honest we need a mechanical brain boss or just any hard mode crimson (and corruption) boss
But yeah the brain should get it’s own theme and destroyer keep the old one
you made me create a new playlist for terraria
This theme really paints the twice in a more menacing picture.
Wow this sounds really good, glad more bosses are getting unique music (that's one thing I really like about Calamity bosses is how every one has a unique theme)
1:20 me in the bathroom

Are you okay?
@@bluehairedboy2010-iw4esI think he's not ok
sounds fantastic, great job guys!
Glad to see Scott Lloyd Shelly returning to the seat of music production. Somehow he always manages to make themes for the game that still compound with the old OST tracks (I get many vibes from the Volume 2 and 3 tracks in this one), but he also still manages to use new sounds that we haven’t heard in any other theme before! Refreshing and yet still in remembrance of the good old days.
Thanks Scott Lloyd Shelly. So happy to hear your work again. 😁
resonance array is his company lmao
