Mahina Minute: Coconut leaf basket

The 3rd through the 6th phases of each malama are the 4 Kū phases: Kūkahi, Kūlua, Kūkolu, and Kūpau. The energy of Kū inspires us to be upright (both physically and morally), foundational, strong, erect, and established. On Kū phases, plant or build things you want to capture and manifest that Kū energy, like trees. The coconut tree is one of the kinolau of the akua Kū for just this reason.
